NOTICE

A PPLICATIONS are hereby invited for the post
Sof Caretaker, Grand Etang Rest House, with
salary in the scale $633.60 by $43.20 to $892.80
together with free quarters.
2. The successful candidate will be required to
reside at the quarters provided, and to employ a
Housemaid, towards whose salary provision for a
contribution of $9.00 monthly is made.
3. Duties : To be responsible for the care and
control of the buildings.
Provide for those members of 'the public autho-
rised to use the Sanatorium.
To cater for the public, provided that due notice
is given by parties numbering more than
two persons.
To keep stock of whiskey, rum, beer and sweet
drinks to be sold according to tariff.
To carry out the provisions of Rules for Manage-
ment of the Grand Etang Sanatorium (See
Page 48 Vol. III of Laws).
To agree to and conform with any additional
Rules and Regulations that may from time
to time be enforced for the proper manage-
ment of the Sanatorium.
Caretaker not to lease the premises without the
approval of the Director of Public Works.
4. Preference will be given to a married person
whose consort is willing to )eside at the quarters.
.5. All applications must reach the Secretary to
Government by Satu.day, 30th April, 1960.

OPEN GENERAL LICENCE-JAPAN

N exercise of the powers conferred on him by
Regulation 2 (ii) of the Supplies (Control)
Regulations, 1959, S.R. & 0. No. 12 of 1959, the
Controller of Supplies hereby gives notice that
Import Licences shall not be necessary for
importation into the Colony of the goods enume-
rated in the Schedule hereunder provided that
such goods:-
(a) are produced wholly or mainly in Japan;
(b) are consigned from any country or territory
oi(ner than .Albania, Bulgaria, China, Czech'
oslovakia, Eastern Germany, Hungary,
North Viet-Nam, North Korea, Poland,
Roumania and the Union of Soviet Social-
ist Republics;
(c) are accompanied by a certificate of origin and
that the Comptroller of Customs is satisfied
as to the correctness of the particulars
contained therein;
(d) are paid for in an appropriate manner.

Schedule of Goods NOT requiring
Specific Licences
Foods of all kinds except rice, butter, eggs in shell-
fish (fresh and frozen), poultry meat, sugar and all
edible oils and fats (including manufactured pro-
ducts of which the principal component is edible
oil or fat);
Live Poultry (one week old or under);
Refrigerators and other household electric
appliances;
Sewing machines (electric and manual);
Harmoniums and other musical instruments;
Wireless receiving sets.
2. This Open General Licence on Japan comes
into force on 19th March, 1960.
3. Importers are warned that the publication
of this Open General Licence does not exempt
them from compliance with the laws, regulations
or orders of the Colony relating to Plant and
Animal Protection, Dangerous Drugs or any other
law of the Colony whatsoever. Nor is the' publi-
cation of this licence to be construed as authoris-
ing the importation of goods the entry of which is
prohibited or restricted by any law,. regulation or
order of the Colony at present in lorce.

COLONIAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION

CDC Caribbean Scholarship

1. THE scholarship will be awarded for an ap-
proved course of study at the University
College of the West Indies for the degree of
Bachelor of science (Economics) and will late
for the normal duration of the degree courses.
2. The Scholarship is open to candidates who
are citizens of the Federation of The West
Indies, or British Guiana, or British Hondu-
ras. Candidates must be unmarried and
under the age of 22 on October 1sb, 1960.
3. Candidates should possess qualifications to
enter the B.Sc. (Econ.) course at the Uni-
versity College of The \Vest Indies. The
requirements are :
either at least three Advanced level passes
at the General Certiticate of Education
or the equivalent, and
one Ordinary level pass at the General
Certificate of Education or the equiva-
lent
or at least two Advanced level passes at the
General Certificate of Education or the
equivalent and,
three Ordinary level passes at the
General Certificate of Education or the
equivalent.
4. The scholarship will cover the whole cost of
the University College course, including
maintenance, books, and pocket money in
accordance with the estimate of the cost of
courses published by the University College of
The West Indies. The actual sum paid will
be neciried in accordance with the circum-
stances of the successful applicant but there
will be no means test. The scholarship may
not normally be held concurrently with any
other award.
5. Selection will be made in consultation with
the education authority of the candidate's
home c untry and such others as the Colonial
Development Corporation may decide. Selec-
tion will be subject tc ccntirmation by the
University (ollo,e ct the West Indies.


6. Scholarship holders will not be tied to service
with the Colonial Development Corporation
nor does the Crorpcrtion guarantee an offer
of employment after graduation. It is the
Corporation's intention, however, that a
successful graduate will ho offered employment
with the Corporation or a(n .Qne.ci,,t.. d dfPrlnp.

will be expected to make a similar declaration
of intention.
7. The awarJ will be subject to the holder's

UNMANIFESTED PACKAGES-BAGGAGE SHED

IASTERS of intercolonial sailing craft and
t small motor vessels and owners of packages
which are cnt entered on the ship's manifest are
hereby notified that, all unmanifested packages
will he landed from ships and placed in the Baggage
Shed at the risk of the owners and \!asters of the,
vessels. Government will not accept any respon-
sibility for the safety of these parcels unless they
are manifested.

A PPLICk ilONS are invited for appointment as
Broadcasting Assistant in the Information
Divi-ion of the Prime Minister's Department. The
salary of the post is $1,080x$240-$5,520 per
annum, the point of entry being determined on
the basis of the candidate's qualifications and
experience.
2. Duties and Qualifications. The duties of
the post involve the preparation of news program-
mes and the production of talks and discussions in
in Federal affairs. Professional experience in the
preparation of radio programmes and an interest in,
and detailed knowledge of, current affairs are re-
quired. Applicatior.s with a degree in Arts or Social
Sciences will receive special consideration.
3. General conditions of Service. A state-
