Food : There were increases in the retail prices of cornflour, cooking oil and small jacks which
resulted in an increase of 1.1 points above the figure for Decemb.r, 1959. The group index figure now
stands at 106.5.
Clothing : During the period under review there were decreases in the retail prices of Men's
khaki, long-sleeved shirts, panties, cotton print and flowered silk dress material which out weighed an
increase in seersucker and resulted in a decrease of 0.4 points below the figure for December, 1959.
The group index figure is now 110.8.
Fuel and Cleaning : There were no changes in the retail prices of the items in this group. Like
December, 1959, the group index figure remained unchanged at 100.
Drink and Tobacco: Due to an increase in the retail price of leaf tobacco the index figure
under this group rose by 0.7 points above the figure for December, 1959. The group index figure is new
100.7.
Miscellaneous goods and Services: There was an increase in the price of cinema fee (Pit) which
cause an increase of 2.0 points above the figure for December, 1959. The group index figure therefore rose
to 125.1.
