Vehicles and Trailers, are hereby notified that the
half-year inspection of these vehicles will commence
as follows:-

Owners of such vehicles are advised to pay
inspection fees from now onwards at their respec-
tive District Revenue Offices and then approach
the Inspector of Motor Vehicles at the Traffic
Branch, New Fire Station, in advance with a view
to effecting any alterations that may be necessary
to comply with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles
and Road Traffic Ordinance, 1938, and of the
Regulations made thereunder.
Vehicles must be presented in a thoroughly clean
condition, and must have been recently overhauled.
The body and wings, axle, chassis, frame, steering
arms, springs, trackiodls, brake connections,
shackles, bolts, nuts, split pins, engine, engine
shield and case, clutch, gearbox, magneto or coil,
air filter, carburettor and all working parts must
be cleaned in order to admit of proper examination.
Dust covers, if used, must be removed before pre-
sentation in order to admit of an examination
being made in full. All split pins, etc., must be
clearly exposed, also chassis and engine numbers.
Drivers' seats must be securely fastened so that
the driver can have proper control over the vehicle.
Spot lights, musical horns, and whistles are strictly
prohibited. Each vehicle must have its tare and
maximum gross weight painted in white figures not
less than 21 inches in height upon a black ground
in a conspicuous place on the right or offside of
the vehicle.
The Registered Identification marks on all
vehicles mu-t conform to provisions of Regulations
7, 8 and 9 and the Second Schedule to the Regula-
tions, No. 35 of 1958, and be in such a condition
as to render each letter or figure readily dis-
tinguishable. The attention of owners of Motor
Omnibuses and Goods Vehicles is specially directed
to Regulation 23 (11) (a) regarding the position of
front lamps. Spot lights will not be allowed ex-
cept with the written approval of the Licensing
Authority.
The attention of the owners of Hiring cars and
Motor Omnibuses is directed to the Motor Vehicles
and Road Traffic (Amendment) Regulations, No. 6
of 1944, as amended by the Motor Vehicles and
Road Traffic (Amendme-nt No. 2) Regulations,
No. 70 of 1946, which require that printed copies
of the Traiffs of Maximum Fares be displayed in
such Vehicles. These ale now available and may
be purchased at the Treasury, St. George's, and at
any District Revenue Office, at 4 cents per copy.
Vehicles which have been found by the Inspector
to have defects must not be used on the .roads
until they have been issued with a Certificate,
certifying that the vehicles may be duly licensed.

Secretary by section 21 of the Customs Ordir.-
ance, Cap. 58, T hereby reappoint the Warehouse at
Hillsborough (which was closed as a result of
destruction by Hurricane Janet' in 1955) for ware-
housing all goods (except such as fall within the
provisions of section 23 of the said Ordinance)
imported without payment of duty on the first
entry thereof, from the 1st day of December, 1959.

NOTICE TO IMPORTERS.

Open Lieence for Imports from the
Scheduled Territories.

N exercise of the powers conferred on him by
Regulation 2 (l1) of the Supplies Control
Regulations S.R. & O. No. 12 of 1959, the Con-
troller of Supplies hereby gives notice that the
following items have been added to the -'chedule of
Exceptions contained in paragraph 2 of the Open
Licence for Imports for the Scheduled Territories,
published in the Government Gazette of S1th July,
1959.
Explosives
Fireworks.
2. The effect of this notice is to bring the
importation of explosives and fireworks under
-import control. Tnese items will therefore need a
licence to import before the order is placed.
3. This notice comes into effect from 17th
December, 1959.

NOTICE.

Dark Crystal Sugar.

ICENCES have been granted for the importation'
of up to a total of 600 tons of dark crystal
sugar to meet the shortfall in local production.
With effect from 15th December, 1959, import-
ation of this type of sugar or the equivalent grade
of yellow crystal sugar will be allowed either duty
free or duty paid at such rate,. subject to further
check by the Collector of Customs, as will allow it
to be sold at the same price as locally manufactur-
ed dark crystal sugar if delivered ex wharf. That
is at $24.31 per bag of 234 lbs- To the extent
possible it would be preferable for manufacturers'
representatives to place orders in bulk in the
interest of economy.

elected member of the St. George's District
Board has become vacant by virtue of his breach
of Sec. 11 (2) of the District Boards Ordinance.
The vcaincy will be filled by a bye-election a
poll for which will be taken on Thursday the 7ti-

NOTICE.

APPLICATIONS are invited for a vacant post
of Student Surveyor in the Public Works
Department.
The salary is at the minimum in the scale
$792x$60-$996, plus 20 per cent. The post is
non-pensionable. The successful applicant should
be a resident of Grenada and must reside in the
area to which he is assigned.
Preference will be given to applicants with a
Higher School Certificate with passes in Mathe-
matics and General Science or Physics. Applicants
should not be over thirty years of age.
The successful candidate (or if minor his
parents or guardians) will be required to sign an
undertaking that they will not resign or discontinue
studies within four years of appointment.

Vacant Post of Headmaster (Graduate)
The Grammar School, St. Vincent.


APPLICATIONS are invited for appointment to
the vacant post of Headmaster, The Grammar
School, St. Vincent.
Appointment: The School is a Government
Institution. The post is pensionable. The officer
will be subject to Colonial Regulations and
Local General Orders for the time being in force
in so far as they are applicable. The appointment
will be subject to medical fitness, 'and will be on
probation for a period of one year in the first
instance.
Salary : The salary of the post is in the scale
$4,608 x $144-$5,472 per annum. The point of
entry into the salary scale will be determined
according to the qualifications and experience of
the candidate.
Qualifications: Applicants should possess a
Degree of a University within the British Common-
wealth, and must have had experience of teaching
in a Secondary School.
Quarters: Quarters are not provided.


Passages: Free first class passages to St.-
Vincent will be provided on first appointment for
the Officer, his wife and children not exceeding five
persons in all; children should be under 18 years'
of age, unmarried and dependent on the Officer
Leave and Leave Passage: Vacation leave
on full pay will be granted in accordance with
local regulations.
Medical Attention : Free Medical attention
and medicines are not provided.
Taxation: All Government Officers are liable
to taxation imposed by local legislation.
Applications giving full particulars, qualifications
and experience of the applicant, and accompanied
by three testimonials (which will not be returned)
should be addressed to the Chief Secretary, St.
Vincent, and should reach him not later than 9th
January, 1960.

Race Meeting Queen's Park 26th Decem-
ber, 1959, & 1st January, 1960.

Regulation of Traffic.

BY virtue of the powers vested ic me under
Section 79 of the Motor Vehicles and Road
Traffic Ordinance, 1938, I hereby order that after
10 a.m., on the 26th December, 1939 and 1st
January, 1960-
(i) All vehicles entering Queen's Park shall pro-
ceed by way of Emboucherie Road, and
enter the Park through the Western En-
trance, keeping to the left or near-side lane.
(ii) All vehicles leaving Queen's Park shall
proceed by way of the Green Bridge,
Emboucherie road (same as entrance) keep-
ing to the left or near-side lane.
(iii) All Motor Lorries and Motor Omnibuses
will proceed direct to the parking area
allotted to them on the opsn space lying
to the South of the Race Track where they
will set down and take up passengers. The
setting down and taking up of passengers
elsewhere in the Park is prohibited.
(iv) Vehicles will be prohibited from parking or
waiting on that portion of Melville Street
and the Emboucherie Road which lies.
between their junction with the River Road
and a point on the Emboucherie Road
situated 60 feet to the North of the West-
ern Entrance to Queen's Park.
2. Taxi and omnibus drivers are requested to-
avoid drawing up their vehicles for the purpose of
setting down or taking up passengers in the.
vicinity of the entrance to and the exits from;
Queen's Park after the hour of 11.30 a.m., on the:
26th December, 1959, and 1st January, 1960.
