in Council thatmertain hands situate in the
Island of Carriacou, a Dependency of the
Colony of Grenada, are to be acquired for
a.public purpose.

WHEREAS, it is enacted by ,.section 3 of the
Land 'Acquisition Ordinance, '1945 '(No. 3
of 1945),r that:if the Governor in Council considers
that any land should be .acquired for a public
purpose he may cause a declaration to that effect
to be made:
AND WHEREAS it is considered by the,Gov-
ernor in Council that the lattd mentioned and
described in the Schedule hereto should be
acquired for a public purpose, to wit, for a
cemetery for internment of the dead.
Now THEREFORE, IT Is HEREBY DECLARED
by His Excellency the Governor, acting after
consultation with the Executive Council of the
Oblotiy 6f Grenada, that upon 'the 'Second Pub.
licatidnn of this Declaration in the Gazette, the land
menrtiondd arid described in the Schedule hereto
shall be acquired for the above-mentioried purpose
and shall vest absolutely in the 'Crown.
AND IT' IS HEREBY FURTHER DECLARED AND
NOTIFIED that a plan of the above mentioned land
may be inspected between the hours of 9.00 a.m.
and 4.00 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays and 9.00
a.m. and 12.00 noon on Saturdays at the District
Office, Carriacou, and the Public Works Depart-
ment Offices in the town of Saint George.
AND IT Is HEREBY FURTHER DECLARED
AND NOTIFIED that Mr. D. K. Samuels, Land
Settlement Officer is appointed Authorised Officer,
for the purpose of the acquisition of the said land.

to effecting any alterations that may be necessary
to comply with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles
and Road Traffic Ordinance, 1938, and of the
Regulations made thereunder.
Vehicles must be presented in a thoroughly clean
condition, and must have been recently overhauled.
The body and wings. axle, chassis, frame, steering
arms, springs, trackrods, brake connections,
shackles, bolts, nuts, split pins, engine, engine
shield and case, clutch, gearbox, magneto or coil,
air filter, carburettor and all working parts must
be cleaned in order to admit of proper examination.
Dust covers, if used, must be removed before pre-
sentation in order to admit of an examination
being made in full. All split pins, etc., must be'
clearly exposed, also chassis and engine numbers.
Drivers' seats must be securely fastened so that
the driver can have proper control over the vehicle.
Spot-lights, musical horns, and whistles are strictly
prohibited. Each vehicle must have its tare and
maximum gross weight painted in white figures not
less than 21 inches in height upon a black ground
in a conspicuous place on the right or offside of
the vehicle.
The Registered Identification marks on all
vehicles must conform to provisions of Regulations
7, 8 and 9 and the Second Schedule to the Regula-
tions, No. 35 of 1958, and be in such a condition
as to render each letter or figure readily dis-
tinguishable. The attention of owners of Motor
Omnibuses and Goods Vehicles is specially directed
to Regulation 23 (11)'(a) regarding the position of
front lamps. Spot lights will not be allowed ex-
cept with the written approval of the Licensing
Authority.
The attention of the owners of Hiring cars and
Motor Omnibuses is directed to the Motor Vehicles
and Road Traffic (Amendment) Regulations, No. 6
of 1944. as amended by the Motor Vehicles and
Road Traffic (Amendment No. 2) Regulations,
No. 70 of 1946, which require that printed copies
of the Traiffs of Maximum Fares be displayed in
such Vehicles. These are now available and may
be purchased at the Treasury, St. George's,. and at
any District Revenue Office, at 4 cents per copy.
Vehicles which have been found by the Inspector
to have defects must not be used on the rods
until they have been issued with a Certificate,
certifying that the vehicles may be duly licensed.

Vacncies in the Federal Services-Assistant
Meteorologists, Meterological Service.



PPLICATIONS are invited from candidates
suitable for training to be Assistant Meteoro-
logists in the West Indies Meteorological Service.
Selected candidates will be required to attend a
prescribed course of instruction and thereafter to
undergo in-service training at the Main Meteoro-
logical Offices in Trinidad, Jamaica and the
Bahamas. On completion of their training,
officers may be required to serve at any station
maintained by the Service. During training only,
officers stationed outside their home territories
will receive an appropriate subsistence allowance

All appointments will be on three years' pro-
bation in the scale $4,080i240-$6,480 per annum.
Univeristy graduates enter this scale at $4,560;
per annum; other candidates enter at the mini-
mum. After training, officers stationed in the
Bahamas receive an additional non-pensionable
allowance. During the period of probation t~e'
appointments are subject to termination at one
month's notice, for which no reason need be given.

be conditional upon a satisfactory i medical;
examination.

degree in Mathematics and/or Physics or at least
the equivalent of the Higher School Certificate in
