Owners of such vehicles are advised to pay
inspection fees from now onwards at their respec-
tive District revenue Offices and then approach
the Inspector cf Motor Vehicles at the Traffic
liranch, New Fire Station, in advance with a view


to effecting any alterations that may he necessary
to comply with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles
and Road Traffic Ordinance, 1938, ind of the
Regulations made thereunder.
Vehicles must be presented in a thoroughly clean
condition, and must have been recently overhauled.
The body and wings, axle, chassis, frame, steering
arms, springs, trackrods, brake connections,
shackles, bolts, nuts, split pins, engine, engine
shield and case, clutch, gearbox, magneto or coil,
air filter, carburettor and all working parts must
be cleaned in order to admit of proper examination.
Dust covers, if used, must be removed before pre-
sentation in order to admit of an examination
being made in full. All split pins, etc., must he
clearly exposed, also chassis and engine numbers.
Drivers' seats must be securely fastened so that
the driver can have proper control over the vehicle.
Spot lights, musical horns, and whistles are strictly
prohibited. Each vehicle must have its ttre and
maximum gross weight painted in white figures not
less than 2? inches in height upon a black ground
in a conspicuous place on the right or offside of
the vehicle.
The Registered Identification marks on all
vehicles must conform to provisions of Regulations
7, 8 and 9 and the Second Schedule to the Regula-
tions, No. 35 of 1958, and be in such a condition
as to render each letter or figure readily dis-
tinguishable. The attention of owners of Motor
Omnibuses and Goods Vehicles is specially directed
to Regulation 23 (11) (a) regarding the position of
front lamps. Spot lights will not be allowed ex-
cept with the written approval of the Licensing
Authority.
The attention of the owners of Hiring cars and
Motor Omnibuses is directed to the Motor Vehicles
and Road Traffic (Amendment) Regulations, No. 6
of 1944. as amended by the Motor Vehicles and
Road Traffic (Amendment No. 2) Regulations,
No. 70 of 1946, which require that printed copies
of the 1 raiffs of Maximum Fares be displayed in
such Vehicles. These aie now available and may
be purchased at the Treasury, St. George's, and at
any District Revenue Ofice, at 4 cents per copy.
Vehicles which have been found by the Inspector
to have defects must not be used on the rods
until they have been issued with a Certificate,
certifying that the vehicles may be duly licensed.

Vacncies in the Federal Services-Assistant
Meteorologists, Meterological Service.



PPLICATIONS are invited from candidates
suitable for training to be Assistant Meteoro-
logists in the West Indies Meteorological Service.
Selected candidates will be required to attend a
presci bed course of instruction and thereafter to
undergo in-service training at the Main Meteoro-
logical Offices in Trinidad, Jamaica and the
Bahamas. On completion of their training,
otlicers may be required to serve at any station
maintained by the Service. During training only,
officers stationed outside their home territories
will receive an appropriate subsistence allowance.
All appointments will be on tlre; years' pro-
bat ion in the scale $4,080x240-$6,480 per annum.
Univeristy graduates enter this scale at $4,560
per annum ; other candidates enter at the mini-
mum. After training, officers stationed in the
Bahamas receive an additional non-pensionable
allowance. During the period of probation the
appointments are subject to termination at one
month h's notice, for which no reason need be given.
The posts aie pensionable and appointment- will
be conditional upon a satisfactory ii medical
examination.
Applicants must possess either a University
degree in Mathematics and/or Physics or at least
the equivalent of the Higher School Certificate in
these subjects. Before selection all candidates
will be required to pass a departmental examina-
tion in Mathematics and Physics.
A statement of the other conditions of service
applicable to the above post will be made avail-
able on application to the Government Office,
Grenada.

employment and details of qualifications and

THE WEST INDIA REGIMENT
OFFICER RECRUITMENT.



THERE is a requirement for three officer cadets
in the 1st Bn. The West India Regiment in
February, 1960. This affords an opportunity for
young men of good background, education and phy-
sique to enter a career which offers generous terms
of service and advancement in a young and grow-
ing organisation.

OUTLINE TERMS OF SERVICE

Eligibility
(a) Age Limits-Between I and 23 years.
(b) Elication-Possession of the General Cer-
tificate (or equivalent) in the English Lan-
guage and three other subjects.
(c) Nationality-British subjects.
(d) Residential-Candidates must belong to one
of the territories of the West Indies and
have resided in one of those territories for
a period of three years.

(e) Candidhtes must be single.
Liability of: Service-: Officers will not, nor-
mally, be required to serve outside the Caribbean
Area. except for attendance at courses in U.K.

NTOTICE is hereby given that the Wages Council (Minor Industrial Undertakings) intends to re-
i commend to the Governor certain Wages Regulation Proposals under authority of Section 10 (1)
(a) and (b) of the Wages Councils Ordinance, 1951 (No. 4 of 1951).
A draft of the Proposals is published in this issue of the Gazette and copies may be obtained from
the Labour Office.
Any person who wishes to lodge any objection with respect to the draft proposals should shbmit
to the Secretary of the Wages Council ;Minor Industrial Undertakings), C/o the Labour Department,
not later than 14 days from the date of publication of this Notice in the Gazetle, whatever representa-

Holidays with Pay-Other Industries
Each person shall receive three weeks' vacation leave annually except in respect of the
fifth year of service when he shall receive four weeks; in respect of the tenth year and each
subsequent fifth year of service he shall receive six weeks;
Provided that during the first year of service he shall receive only two weeks' vacation.

7. Sick Leave-Minor Industries
Each person shall be entitled to a maximum of 14 days' sick leave with pay on the pro-
duction of a medical certificate if he becomes ill after the completion of 200 days' work in the
first yeir of service and after the completion of 120 days' work in any subsequent year. Pro-
vided also that a worker shall be entitled to an additional 7 days' leave with half-pay, if he
continues to be sick for a longer period than 14 days.

8. Hours of Work
The hours of work in the Minor Industries shall be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one hour
break for lunch, provided that on one working day of the week the hours of work shall be
from 8 a,m. to 12 noon.
