QUEEN'S BIRTHDAY PARADE AT QUEEN'S PARK
12TH JUNE, 1958.


BY virtue of the powers vested in me under
Section 79 of the Motor Vehicles and Road
Traffic Ordinance, 1938, I hereby order that after
8.00 am. on the 12th June, 1958, until 11.00
a.m.:-
(i) All vehicles entering Queen's Park shall
proceed by way of Emboucherie Road and
enter the Park through the Western
Entrance;
(ii) All vehicles leaving Queen's Park shall
proceed by way of the Wooden Bridge;
(iii) All motor lorries and motor omnibuses will
proceed direct to the parking area allotted
to them on the open space lying to the
East of the Race Track where they will set
down and take up passengers. The setting
down and taking up of passengers elsewhere
in the Park is prohibited.

ORDINANCE, 1q45 (No 3 f 1945).

In the matter of a Declaration by the Governor
in Council that certain lands situate in the
Parish of Saint Andrew in the island of
Grenada are to be acquired for a Public
Purpose

DECLARATION OF ACQUISITION OF LAND
(First Publication)

W HEREAS it is enacted by Section 3 of the
Land Acquisition Ordinance, 1945, (No. 3
of 1945) that if the Governor-in-Councl considers
that any land should be acquired for a Public
Purpose he may cause a declaration to that effect
to be made.
AND WHEREAS it is considered by the Governor
in Council that the land mentioned and described
in the Schedule hereto shall be acquired for a
public purpose to wit for the erection of a VHF
Radio Station for the purpose of operating aeron-
autical telecommunication services and naviga-
tional aids.
Now THEREFORE IT Is HEREBY DECLARED
by His Excellency the Governor acting after
consultation with the Executive Council of the
Colony of Grenada, that upon the second publi-
cation of this Declaration in the Gazette, the Land
Mentioned and described in the Schedule hereto
shall be acquired for the above mentioned purpose
and shall vest absolutely with the Crown.
AND IT Is IIEREBY FURTHER DECLARED
AND NOTIFIED that a plan of the above ment-
ioned land may be inspected between the hours
of 9.00 a.m. and 4.00 p,m. on Mondays to Fridays
and 9.00 a.m. and 12.00 noon on Saturdays at the
Public Works Department Offices in the town
of St. George.

St. John's, Antigua, has been removed for general

to mark the position pending replacement of the
Bell Buoy.

NOTICE.

Re-organisation of the Supply Control
Department.

I is hereby notified for general information that
as from the 1st June next the Supply Control
Department will no longer function as a separate
Department but will be merged into the Ministry
of Trade and Production where the following
duties will be performed by an Administrative
Assistant under the direct supervision of the
Principal Assistant Secretary:-
(i) Licensing of (a) Imports and
(b) Exports.
(ii) Price Control.
(iii) Bulk purchase of Rice, and distribution
(-ale) of.
(iv) Control of local food supplies.
The Price Inspector will continue to be assisted
in effectively handling the. Pice Control Machinery
by the Police and will be included in the Ministry
establishment.
The release of Foreign Exchange, other than for
imports and exports, will be taken over by the
Financial Secretary.

Owners of such vehicles are advised to pay
inspection feesfrom now onwards at their respective
District Revenue Offices and then approach the
Inspector of Motor Vehicles at the Traffic Branch,
New Fire Station, in advance with a view to
effecting any alterations that may be necessary
to comply with the provisions of the Motor Vehi-
cles and Road Traffic Ordinance, 19.;8, and of the
Regulations made thereunder.
Vehicles must be presented in a thoroughly
clean condition, and must have been recently
overhauled. The body and wings, axle, chassis,
frame, steering arms, springs, trackro is, brake
connections, shackles, bolts, nuts, split pins, engine,
engine shield and case, clutch, gearbox, m:rgneto

or coil, air filter, carburettor, and all working parts
must be cleaned in order to admit of proper
examination. Dust covers, if used, must be
removed before presentation in order to admit of
an examination being made in full. All split pins.
etc., must be clearly exposed, also chasis and
engine numbers. Drivers' seats must be securely
fastened so that the driver can have proper
control over the vehicle. Spot lights, musical
horns and whistles are strictly prohibited. Each
vehicle must have its tare and maximum gross
weight painted in white figures not less than 2-
inches in height upon a black ground in a
conspicuous place on the right or offside of the
vehicle.
The Registered Identification marks on all
vehicles must, conform to provisions of Regulations
7, 8 and 9 and the Second Schedule to the
Regulations, No. 35 of 1938, and be in such a
condition as to render each letter or figure readily
distinguishable. The attention of owners of Motor
Omnibuses and Goods Vehicles is specially directed
to Regulation 23 (11) (a) regarding the position of
front lamps. Spot lights will not be allowed
except with the written approval of the Licensing
Authority.
The attention of the owners of Hiring cars and
Motor Omnibuses is directed to the Motor Vehicles
and Road Traffic (Amendment) Regulations, No. 6
of 1944, as amended by the Motor Vehicles and
Road Traffic (Amendment No. 2) Regulations, No.
70 of 1946 which require that printed copies of the
Tariffs of Maximum Fares be displayed in such
Vehicles. These are now available and may be
purchased at the Treasury, St. George s, and at
any District Revenue Office at 4 cents per copy.
Vehicles which have been found by the Inspector
to have defects must not be used on the roads until
they hava been issued with a Certificate, certifying
that the vehicles may be duly licensed.

Distribution of Economic Plants for Planting
1959.

PERSONS desirous of obtaining the following
plants :-rooted cocoa cuttings, citrus, mango,
avocado pear, coconut, coffee, and miscellaneous
fruits, for planting in 1959, must apply on the
forms provided for that purpose entitled,
" Application Form For Plants Propagated For
Distribution by tho Department of Agriculture for
Planting in 1959".
Application forms must be forwarded to the
Cocoa Agronomist, Mt. Horne Cocoa Station, St.
Andrew's, on or before 30th June, 1958.
Applications for plants received after the 30th
June, 1958, will neither be acknowledged nor
considered.
Application forms can be obtained from the
Agricultural Department, Agricultural Stations
and from members of the extension staff of the

Vacant Post of Assistant Master.


SPPLICATIONS are invited for appointment to
the post of Assistant M aster at the Montserrat
Sdcondaty School, Which is a co-educational
mi'stitution.
Duties: The Officer will be required to teach
History and English up to Cambridge Higher
Sci'obT Crtificate Standard, and to undertake the
teac'i d'g of General subjects in tl6h middle and/or
lower sclioo as the Principal may direct. He will
also be required to assist, with extra curricular
activities-Games, Debating and Dramatic Society
and Glee Club-and to assist in the preparation of
schemes of work in the principal subjects taught
by him.
Qualification : The Officer should be a grad-
uate of a recognized University.
Salary: The Salary of the post, which is
pensionable, is in the scale $2,750.40x 129.60-
$2,880 x 144-3,456 x 144- $4,032. The point of
entry into the scale will be determined according
to the candidate's qualification and experience.
Passages : Free passages for person selected,
his wife and not more than three children under the
age of eighteen years will be provided. Vacation
leave and leave passage grant are earned in accord-
ance with General Orders.

EASTERN CARIBBEAN FARM INSTITUTE TINIDAl
THE WEST IIfIES.

Principal.

PPLICATIONS are invited for the post of
iiincipal of the Eastern Caribbean Farm
Institute, which is maintained by thirteen Govern-
ments in the regiofi to train the subordinate staffs
of Departments of Agriculture and others in the
pra'dtice and theory of agriculture at sub-University
level: The Principal is a member of the Governing
Body and' the administrative and academic head of
the Institute, charged with full responsibility for
the training of sixty-four students (male) in
residence, at present, for a period of twenty-one
months: he has wide scope for initiative in'pro-
posrig developments in this relatively new in-
stitution.
The 150 acre mixed farm has been established'
over the last five years as a self-supporting teach-


iing iinit and has i balance of money available to
extend practical teaching facilities.
The post is pensionable for personal and Widows'
and Orphans' benefits under the Overseas Super-
annuation Scheme administered by the Crown
Agents for Overseas Governments and Adminis-
trations, to which the Principal, if eligible for
membership, contributes approximately 4% of basic
salary, and the Institute 22%: if he is ineligible,
an allowance is paid in lieu of pension rights.
The salary offered, subject to consideration for
upward revision n accordance with any recom-
mendations which may be made for the Trinidad
(G government salary to which it is linked, is 1,050
(basic) plus 200 per ainnnm non-pensionable duty
allowance, 50 per annual entertainment allowance,
and mileage allowance for all official ravelling.
Comfortable self-contained furnished quarters
are provided at 8% of salary subject to a maximum
of 10. 8. 4 per month plus 5% per annum of the
value of furniture supplied. Free approved
passages for the Principal and his wife and children
under the age of 18 years who are dependent
upon him up to a maximum of five persons in all
from his place of domicile or recruitment will be
granted on appointment. Vacation leave at the
rate of 45 days for each full year of service, with
,approved leave passages to a maximum of three
full fares, if applicable, to place of normal dpmicile,
are allowed after every two and a half years'
residential service.

and experience, together with the names and

tant Secretary, Department of Agriculture,
Whitehall, Maraval, Trinidad, (who is acting on
