IN THE MATTER OF THE LAND ACQUISITION
ORDINANCE, 1945 (No. 3 of 1945)

And

In the matter of a De:laration by the Governor
in Council that certain lands situate in the
Parish of Saint Andrew in the island of
Grenada are to be acquired for a Public
Purpose.

DECLARATION OF ACQUISITION OF LAND.
(First Publication).

HEREAS it is enacted by Secticn 3 of tie
SLand Acquisition Ordinance, 1P45 (No. 3
of 191:), that if the Governor in Council considers
that any land should be acquired for a public
purpose he may cause a declaration to that effect
to be made :
AND WHEREAS it is considered by the Governor
in Council that the land mentioned and d, scribed
in the Schedule hereto should be acquired for a
public purpose, to wit fcr the erection of a new
Visiting Station:
Now, TBEREFOIE, IT IS HEREBY DECLARED
by His Excellency the Governor, acting after
consultation with the Executive Council of the
Colony of Grenada, that upon the second publica-
tion of this Declaration in the Gazette, the land
mentioned and described in the Schedule hereto
shall be acquired for the above mentioned purpose
and shall vest absolutely in the Crown.
AND IT IS HEREBY FURTHER DECLARED
AND NOTIFIED that a plau of the above-mentioned
land may be inspected at all reasonable hours at
the Government Office in the town of Saint George
in the said Colony.

SCHEDULE.

A lof of land situate at Paradise in the parish of
Saint Andrew in the Island of Grenada reputed to
belong to the Estate of one SPENCER GORDON,
deceased, being in area approximately 10,000
square feet, English Statute Measure, and abutted
and hounded on one side by the Paradise Main
Road and on the remaining three sides by other
lands of the Es.ate of the said SPENCER GORDON,
deceased, or howsoever otherwise the same may
be abutted, bounded, known, distinguished or
described.

MAINTENANCE OF GOVERNMENT LANDS IN THE
MORNE ROUGE AREA.



TENDERS are invited for the maintenance of
the undermentione l areas of Government
lands in the Morne Rouge Area on a monthly
basis :-
(1) That reclaimed area of land bounded on the
North-West by the Se.i, on the Scuth-East
by the Mlain Road to Quarantine Station,
on the South-West by lands occupied by
Win.iw.,rd Islinds Broadcasting Station and
on the North-East by area (2).
(2) Approximately 16 acres of land cultivated
in coconuts and bounded on the North-West
by the 'ea, on the South-West by area (1)
North-Eist hy area (3. and on the South-
East bv Grand Anse Road and part of
Area (1).
(3) Approximately !6 acres at present uncleared
and bounded on the North West by the Sea,
on the North-East by lands of George
Banfield, on the South-East by Grand Anse
Road and on the South-West by Area (2).
The Contractor should in-lude in his tender for
grass-cutting and clearing, drain-cleaning including
sea heads, clearing of blocks, control of weeds,
undergrowth and defective or overhanging trees,
prevention of grazing, and any other matter
necessary for the proper upkeep of the area except
maintenance of roads and buildings.
The Contract for 1958 will commence on 1st
January, 1958, and may be terminated by one
month's notice on either side.
Tenders should be addressed to the Chairman,
Tenders Board, and should reach him by noon on
Monday 16th De-ember, 1957.
The Government does not bind itself to accept
the lowest or any tender.

T HIS notice does not purport to give more than
a very general indication of the main purposes
of the above Law, copies of which may be obtained
either from Bundesanzeiger-Verlag G.m.b.H.,
Bonn (Bundesgesetzblatt Sect. 1, No. 32 of 23rd
July, 1957-price 40 pfg. and postage), or trom
Interbook Ltd., 12 Fitzroy Street, London, W. 1.
If in doubt, persons interested aie advised to con-
sult a lawyer practising in German Law. Advice


may also be obtained from the Federal German
Embassy, 21/23, Belgrave Square, London, S.W. i,
or from any Federal German Consulate, from
whom the necessary application forms and an
explanatory leaflet concerning the submission of
claims may be obtained.
The Law deals only with monetary restitution
liabilities of the former Reich and certain other
specified legal entities. It does not cover physical
restitution of identifiable property. The Law pro-
vides for the filing and satisfaction of claims and
(1) creates certain new categories of monetary
restitution claim;
(i) in respect of effects-mainly house-
hold effects-of emigrants or intend-
ing emigrants which were seized in-
transit outside the Federal area, and
(ii) by bringing the restitution legisla-
tion applicable to the former French
Zone into line with that of the re-
mainder of the Federal area makes
possible c'aims for compensatory
payments.
(2) re-opens the filing period for monetary
restitution claims:

Any persons who were entitled under the legisla-
tion for the restitution of identifiable property in
force in the former westernn zones of Germany
and Western Sectors of Berlin and who become
entitled under the provisions of the new law to
claim either the restitution of a specific sum of
money or damages for the failure to restore iden-
tifiable property restorable under that legislation
may now file a claim for the payment of such sum
of money or such damages. This applies both
when no claim has been previously flied under the
restitution legislation hitherto in force and when
claims which had been filed were rejected or were
withdrawn or renounced by the claimant.
Claims, including those in respect of categories
now possible for the first time, must be submitted,
in quadruplicate, before the 1st Apiil, 1958 to the
competent Central Filing Agency as under

Owners of such vehicles are advised to pay
inspection fees from now onwards at their respec-
tive District Revenue Offices and then approach
the Inspector of Motor Vehicles at the Traffic
Branch, New Fire Station, in advance with a view


to effecting any alternations that may be necessary
to comply with the provisions of the Motor vehicles
and Road Traffic Ordinance, 1938, and of the
Regulations made thereunder.
Vehicles must be presented in a thoroughly clean
condition, and must have been recently overhauled.
The body and wings, axle, chassis, frame, steering
arms, springs, trackrods, brake connections, shak-
les, bolts, nuts, split-pins, engine, engine shield
and case, clutch, gearbox, magreto or coil, air
filter, carburettor, and all working parts must be
cleaned in order to admit of proper examination.
Dust covers, if used, must be removed before
presentation in order to admit of an examination
being made in full All split pins, etc., must be
clearly exposed, Also chassis and engine number.
Drivers' seats must be securely fastened so that
the driver can have pr;oer control over the vehicle.
Spot lights, musical horns and whisiles are strictly
prohibited. Each vehicle must have its tare and
maximum gross weight painted in white figures
not less than 21 inches in height upon a black
ground in a conspicuous place on the right or
offside of the vehicle.
The Registered Identification marks on all vehi-
cles must conform to provisions of Regulations 7,
8 and 9 and the Second Schedule to the Regula-
tions, No. 35 of 1938, and be in such a condition
as to render each letter or figure readily distin-
guishable. The attention of owners of Motor
Omnibuses and Goods Vehicles is specially directed
to Regulation 23 (11) (a) regarding the position of
front lamps. Spot lights will not be allowed
except with the written approval of the Licensing
Authority.
The attention of the owners of Hiring cars and
Motor Omnibuses is directed to the Motor Vehicles
and Road Traffic (Amendment) Regulations, No. 6
of 1944, as amended by the Motor Vehicles and
Road Traffic (Amendment No. 2) Regulations, No.
70 of 1946 which require that printed copies of
the Tarrifs of Maximum Fares be displayed in
such Vehicles. These arc now available and may
be purchased at the Treasury, St. George's, and at
any District Revenue Office, at 4 cents per copy.
Vehicles which have been found by the Inspector
to have defects must not be used on the roads
until they have been issued with a certificate,
certifying that the vehicles may be duly licensed.
