SIS Excellency Sir COLVILLE MONTGOMERY DEVERELL, K.C.M.G., C.V.O., O.B.E.,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Windward Islands, left the
Colony for St. Vincent yesterday.
IN pursuance of authority conferred upon him by Letters Patent, His Excellency
the Governor has issued a Commission appointing LouIs COOLS-LARTIGUE,
Esquire, O.B.E., Chief Secretary, Windward Islands, to be Governor's Deputy,
Windward Islands, with effect from 11th October, 1957, until further notice.
His Excellency's Commission is published for general information.

: Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Officer of the Most
SL.. Excellent Order of the British Empire, Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over the Windward Islands, comprising the Islands
'' of Grenada, Saint Vincent, Saint Lucia and Dominica and their
Dependencies, issued under my hand and the Public Seal of the
Island of Grenada at Government House, in the said Island of
Grenada, this 11th day of October, One thousand nine hundred

Y virtue of the power and authority in me vested by WINDWARD ISLANDS LETTERS
PATENT bearing date at WESTMINSTER the twenty-seventh day of August, One
thousand nine hundred and fifty-one; I do by this Commission under the Public Seal
of the Island of GRENADA appoint you the said Louis COOLS-LARTIGUE, Officer of the
Most Excellent Order cf the British Empire, Chief Secretary, Windward Islands to
be my Deputy within the said WINDWARD ISLANDS from on or about the 11th day of
October, One thousand nine hundred and fifty-seven and until further orders,
and in that capacity should 6he necessity arise for so doing, to exercise, perform and
execute for and on behalf of the Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the WINDWARD
ISLANDS during the period'recited, but no longer, all things that belong to the office
of Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the WINDWARD ISLANDS according to the
tenor of such Letters Patent already recited or in other Letters Patent adding to,
amending or substituting for the same; and subject to the Royal Instructions and
other Instructions passed under the Royal Sign Manual and Signet to the Governor
and Commander-in-Chief of the said WINDWARD ISLANDS of GRENADA, SAINT VINCENT,
SAINT LUCIA and DOMINICA, and their Dependencies and during Her Majesty's pleasure :
II. AND I DO HEREBY DIRECT that you the said Louis COOLS-LARTIGUE, shall not
continue to act as Governor's Deputy after the Governor has arrived at Grenada
or some other Officer having a prior right so, to act or to administer the Government
of the WINDWARD ISLANDs has notified that he is about to assume it:
III. AND I DO HEREBY REQUIRE and command all and singular Her Majesty's
Officers, Civil, Military, Naval, Air and otherwise, and all others the inhabitants of the
said WINDWARD ISLANDS and all others whom it may concern to take due notice thereof
and to give their ready obedience accordingly.
