from 1st April, 1957, rentals for the lPest
House at Grand Etang and the buildings at
Quarantine Station will be under the control of
the Ministry for Social Services.
2. The Rest House at Carriacou will remain
under the control of the Administration, and all
bookings for the Carriaccu Rest House will con-
tinue to be made at the District Office, Carriacou.
3. This notice supersedes G zzette Notice pub-
lished 23rd March, 1957 in respect of the said
buildings which notice is hereby cancelled.

Towns Administration Ordinance- Cap. 225.

X OTICE is hereby given that Assessment Lists
Sin respect of the Town of St. George may
be seen at the Treasury, and in respect of the
other Towns at the respective District Revenue
Offices, from the 1st day of February, to the
30th day of April next, and that attendance will be
given at such offices for the purpose of receiving
the rates mentioned in the Assessment Lists.

NOTICE.

THE public are hereby notified that due to the
dry season a water shortage now exists in the
St. George's, St. Paul's, Morne Jaloux, Piedmon-
temps, Belmont and Grand Anse areas.
Owners of motor vehicles are therefore asked to
desist from using pipe borne water for washing
their cars, buses, etc.
The co-operation of householders is requested
in an effort to conserve the general supply by
avoiding all waste and careless use of water for
domestic purposes in kitchens, baths etc, and com-
plete cessation of watering gardens.

NOTICE.

Vacant Post Federal-Government of the West
Indies.

Federal Architect.

PPLICATIONS are invited for the post of
11 Federal Architect on the establishment of the
Federal Government of the West Indies, to pro-
mote and supervise the development in Trinidad,
of the new capital of the Federation of the West
Indies.
2. Appointment would be on contract for a
period cf five years with salary at the rate of $12,
000 B. W. I. (2, 500) per annum.
3. Passages: Free passages would be pro-
vided on appointment and termination of contract
(not exceeding five persons in all) for the officer,
his wife, and children who are under 18 years and
unmarried and dependent upon him.
4. Leave: Vacation leave would be granted at
-the rate of 45 days per annum.
5. Leave passages: Eligible for return leave
passages, not exceeding the cost of three adults
fares to the United Kingdom after completing a
tour of not less than 22 years.
6. Quarters: If quarters are provided, a rental
of 10 per cent of basic salary would be payable for
them and, if furniture is provided, a rental of 5 per
cent of its assessed value would be payable annu-
ally. If quarters are not provided, an allowance
equal to the amount by which the the approved
rental of quarters exceeds 10 per cent of basic
salary would be payable to the officer.
7. Medical: Free medical attention would not
be provided but free operative treatment, X-Ray
examinations and bacteriological service would be
provided for the officer only.
8. The development of a new capital site will
include the preparation by nominated specialists of
a Master Plan for the site; the promotion of archi-
tectural competitions for the principal government
buildings; the supervision of building contracts;
and the setting up of Town Planning Control of
development in the Federal District.
9. Applicants should be qualified Architects
(Associates of the Royal Institute of British Archi-
tects or- other internationally recognized bodies)


with experience in physical planning and preferably
experience with either the New Towns, the
London County Council, or other public or Gov-
ernment Authorities having large development
programmes or in an office with an established and
progressive practice.
10. It is desired that the post should be filled
at an early date, in order that the preliminary work
in connection with the Capital site can be com-
menced as early as possible after the selection of
the site in Trinidad in April, 1957.
11. Applications, giving details of age, qualifi-
cations and experience, should be submitted to the
Secretary, Public Service Commission not later
than the 30th April, 19-57.
They should be accompanied by the names and
addresses of two persons in the capacity of personal
referees and of two other persons in the capacity
of referees for professional experience.

Vacant Posts-Federal Government of the
West Indies.

4 PPLICATIONS are invited for the following
IL posts on the establishment of the Federal
Government of the West Indies:-
(a) Senior Economist, salary $10,800 per
annum;
(b) Economist, Salary $8,880 per annum;
(c) Two Research Assistants, Economics,
Salary scale $4,080 by $240 to $5,520.
(d) Two Research Assistants, Statistics, salary
scale $4,080 by $240 to $5,520.

2. Posts will eventually be pensionable on the
Federal Establishment and arrangements would be
made to preserve existing pension rights of serving
government officers by secondment. Selected
candidates would he required to serve in Trinidad
when headquarters are established there and
initially and at any stage in any of the West
Indian Islands Free passages provided on first
appointment and termination for officer and family
up to five persons in all. Leave at the rate of 45
days a year. Leave passages up to three adult
passages after tour of 2 years.
3. Senior Economist would be required imme-
diately on assumption to initiate and direct a
programme of preparatory work of collating data
and of economic assessment of Federal area in
order that interim Government and, by April 1958,
Federal Government can be presented with studies
and base plans on which economic Planning can
be formulated. He will be attached to the
Federal Economic Planning Unit and will work in
collaboration with the Federal Statistician. The
post must be accepted on the understanding that
it may later be decided to appoint another Econo-
mist or Economists of equal or higher rank or
salary.

4. For the Senior Economist an honours or
research degree in economics is required with at
least five years experience in the field of applied
economics, i.e. in economic planning organisation
or Ministry or Department of Finance or Trade
and Production or comparable experience else-
where in economic research, investigations or
surveys of practical nature. Practical knowledge
or economic problems of under-developed territories
desirable, also ability to apply theoretical know-
ledge to their solution. Administrative experience
essential and capacity to set up and run economic
planning organisation as a department of Federal
Government.
5. Economist will work under the direction
of the Senior Economist in carrying out the above
duties. Honours or research degree in economics
required with at least two years experience similar
to that required for the Senior Economist.
6. For the Research Assistants degree in
economics required preferably with some post-
graduate experience as research assistant in
economics or statistics. Research Assistants will
work under the direction of the Senior Economist
and the Federal Statistician respectively on the
normal duties of these appointments.
7. Applications, giving age and particulars of
qualifications and experience together with the
names of two persons to act as personal referees,
should be submitted before Avril 6th 1957, to the
Secretary, Public Service Commission, Govern-

APPLICATIONS are invited from suitably
qualified candidates for appointment to the
post of District Medical Officer, Dominica,
particulars of which are as follows:-
Appointment: The post is pensionable but
an appointment may be made on a temporary non-
pensionable contractual basis for a period of 3 years
in the first instance. The appointment carries
with it liability to transfer to any medical post of
comparable status within the Windward Islands.
Salary: The salary is at the rate of $3,840
(800) per annum in the scale $3,840 (800) by
$120 (25) to $4,800 (1,000) per annum, plus a
pay addition of 20%.
Allowances: Travelling a n d subsistence
allowances are payable in accordance with local
regulations in respect of approved travel on duty.
Private Practice: Private practice will be
permitted so long as this does not interfere with
the proper performance of the officer's duties.
Quarters: Quarters are not provided. Should
Government quarters become available at any
time rental would be charged at the rate of 10% of
salary or 5% of the assessed value of the quarters,
whichever is less.
Passages on Appointment: Free passages
to the Windward Islands will be provided on first
appointment for the officer, his wife and children,


not exceeding five persons in all. Children to be
under 18 years of age, unmarried and dependent
on the officer. In the case of a contract appoint-
ment, free passages will be provided on the
satisfactory termination of the contract.
Leave Passages : Leave passages are pro-
vided in accordance with the Windward Islands-
Leave Passage Regulations.
Duties : The officer will be required to perform
the usual duties of a Medical Officer, and will be
liable for service in any Institution or District of
the Colony in which' he is serving. He will also
be required to attei d to all patients who present"
themselves at a Dispensary or Institution, free of
personal gain to himself and in accordance with
the general directions of the Senior Medical Officer.
All fees paid for Medical attention at a Dis-
pensary or Institution will accrue to Government.
Leave : Vacation leave on full salary will be
granted in accordance with local leave regulations.
In the case of a contract appointment, vacation
leave will be granted at tle rate of one week for
each completed period of three months' resident
service: such leave to be taken or the satisfactory
termination of the contract.
General: The officer will be subject to the
Colonial Regulations, local General Orders,
Financial and Store Rules and subsidiary legis-
lation in force for the time being. All Govern-
ment officials are liable to taxation imposed by
local enactments.
Applications given full particulars of candidates'
qualifications and experience, and accompanied
by two testimonials, should be addressed to the
Chief Secretary, Windward Islands, Grenada, and
should reach him not later than the 30th April,
1957.

"Roy Haywood", alias "Matthew Haywood",
alias "Blows" of St. Pauls, Grenada, a labourer
and stevedore, wanted for Murder.

DESCRIPTION AS FOLLOWS:
About 5 Ft. 8 Inches in height, stout build,
brown complexion, round and wrinkled face with
high cheek bones, scar on left cheek, mole on left
forearm, black and curly hair, gold capped teeth at
front of mouth, little finger missing on left hand,
and walks with rolling gait and chest up.

Sub-paragraphs (1) and (2) of Paragraph
2 of the Agriculture (Hurricane Rehabili-
tation) (Amendment) Regulations, 1957.

T is hereby notified for public information that
by virtue of the provisions of the Agriculture
(Hurricane Rehabilitation) (Amendment) Regula-
tions, 1957 (S.R. & 0. No. 8 of 1957) the date for
consolidating the agricultural areas referred to in
paragraph 2 therein shill be Monday the first day
,of April, 1957.
The Area Coimmittees appointed for areas I and
II, III and IV, and IX a, IX b, and X. set out in
the said Regulations, shall be dissolved and those
appointed for the new areas shall stand in the
place of the said dissolved Committees from that
(late.

ECTION 399 of Chapter 55 of the Laws of
Grenada, 1934, is hereby published for the
general information of the public .-
Whoever, knowing or having reason to
believe that any person has committed or has
been convicted of any crime, aids conceals or
harbours the person, with the purpose of en-
abling him to avoid lawful arrest or the ex-
ecution of his sentence, shall, if the crime is
punishable with death or with imprisonment
for ten years or upwards, be liable to imprison-
ment for five years, or shall if the crime is a
felony other than aforsaid, be liable to im-
prisonment for two years, or shall, if the crime
is a misdemeanor, be liable to imprisonment
for six months. "

Islands, particulars of which are as follows:-

Appointment: The post is pensionable, but

medical post of comparable status in the Wind-
ward Islands.

of $6,000 (1,250) per annum plus a pay addition

ance are payable in accordance with local regula-
tions in respect of approved travel on duty.
Private Practice : Private practice of a con-
sultative nature only is allowed.
Quarters : Quarters are not provided. Should
Government quarters become available, the officer

Kingstown Town Board, Chairman of the Central
Housing and Planning Authority, and to perform
such other duties connected with the health and
medical services as the Governor may from time
to time direct.
General: The Officer will be subject to the
Colonial Regulations, local General Orders, Finan-
cial and Store Rules and subsidiary legislation in
force for the time being. All Government Officials
are liable to taxation imposed by local enactments

Duties: The duties of the Senior Medical
Officer are mainly administration of the Medical
Department and include responsibility for public
health work and the anti-yaws campaign and any
other suitable duties which may be assigned to
him from time to time by the Administrator. The
Senior Medical Officer is a member of the Central
Housing and Planning Authority and a nominated
member of the Roseau Town Council.

Leave: In the case of pensionable appoint-
ment, vacation leave on full salary will be granted
in accordance with local leave regulations. In the
case of a Contract appointment, vacation leave
will be granted at the rate of one week for each
completed period of three months resident service,
such leave will be granted on the satisfactory ter-
mination of the contract.
General: The officer will be subject to the
Colonial Regulations, local General Orders, Fin-
ancial and Store Rules and Subsidiary Legislation
in force for the time being. All Government
officials are liable to taxation imposed by local
enactments.
