HIS Excellency CM.M. DEVEIELL, Esquire, C.M.G., C.V.O., O.B.E., Governor and
Commander-in-Chief of the Windward Islands, left the Colony yesterday for
IN pursuance of authority conferred upon him by Letters Patent, His Excellency
the Governor has issued a Conmmission appointing Louis COOLS-LARTIGUE,
Esquire, O.B.E., Chief Secretary, Windward Islands, to be Governor's Deputy,
Windward Islands, with effect from 28th May, 1956, until further notice.
His Excellency's Commission is published for general information.

.Excellent Order of the British Empire, Governor and Comnmander-
in-Chief in and over the lWindward Islands, comprising the
Islands of Grenada, Saint Vincent, Saint Lucia, and Dominicla, and
their Dependencies, issued under nm hand at Governmlent House,
Grenada, and the Public Seal of the said Island of Grenada, this
28th day of May, One thousand nine hundred and fifty-six.

) PATENT bearing date at WESTMINSTER the twenty-seventh day of August, One
thousand nine hundred and fifty-one; I do by this Commission under the Public Seal
of the Island of GRENADA appoint you the said Louis CooLs LARTIGUE, Officer
of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Chief Secretary, Wind-
ward Islands, to be my Deputy within the said WINDWARD ISLANDS from
on or about the 23th day of May, One thousand nine hundred and fifty-six,
and until further orders, and in that capacity should the necessity arise for
so doing, to exercise, perform and execute for and on behalf of the Governor and
Conmmander-in-Chief of the WINDWARD ISLANDS during the period recited, but no
longer, all things that belong to the office of Governor and Commander-in-Chief
of the WINDWARD ISLANDS according to the tenor of such Letters Patent already
recited or in other Letters Patent adding to, amending or substituting for the same;
and subject to the Royal Instructions and other Instructions passed under the
Royal Sign Manual and Signet to the Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the
said WINDWARD ISLANDS of GRENADA, ST. VINCENT, ST. LUCIA and DOMINICA, and
during Her Majesty's pleasure :
II. AND I DO HEREBY DIRECT that you the said Louis COOLS-LARTIGIE shall not
continue to act as Governor's Deputy after the Governor has arrived at
Grenada or some other Officer having a prior right so to act or to administer the
Government of the WINDWARD ISLANDS has notified that he is about to assume it:
III. AND I DO HEREBY REQUIRE and command all and singular Her Majesty's
Officers, Civil, Military, Naval, Air and otherwise, and all others the inhabitants of the
said WINDWARD ISLANDS and all others whom it may concern to take due notice thereof
and to give their ready obedience accordingly.
