United Kingdom Folyte.ihnic Courses fGr Women.

SIHE Secretary of State has advise i of two short
summer courses in Home Life and Activities
which ar' being organised fcr women from ove -
seas by the Borough 'olytechnic and the Regent
Street Polytechnic under the auspices of the
London County Council.

The Courses are suitable for women already in
the United Kingdom, or those who are going there
with their husbands on leave, or to join their hus-
hands who are taking educational and technical
training, or for women students themselves taking
educational or specialist courses.
The cost of the courses vary from E to 10
inclusive, and are intended for women who are
already in the U.K. or will be arriving there before
If the courses prove successful this year, it is
proposed to make them a regular feature.

Agricultural Rehabilitation-Extension of Final Date
For Submission of Applications Under Scheme B".

T is hereby notified for general information that
the final date for the submission of applications
under Scheme B" of the .agricultural (Hurricane
Rehabilitation) Ordinance, 1955, is extended to
30th June, 1956.

Procedure in connection with soil
conservation grants.

ANY farmer desirous of obtaining a grant for
soil conservation work should contact the
Area Agricultural Instructor. Grants in the first
instance will be restricted to $6.00 per acre of

farmer with a form, supplies of which he will obtain
from the Area Committee Secretary.
3. The Area Agricultural Instructor will assist
the farmer in planning the soil conservation work
which is to be grant aided and he will also assist
the farmer as may be necessary, in entering all
relevant details on the form.
4. The Area Agricultural Instructor will take
the complete form to the Agrcultural Assistant in
charge of his district for scrutiny and approval of
the proposed programme of work and costs.
5. The Agricultural Assistant in charge of the
district will send the form to the appropriate Area
Committee for scrutiny by and approval of the

C. From the Area Committee the form will be
sent to the Central Agricultural Rehabilitation
7. If the Central Agricultural Rehabilitation
Comm;nittee approves the application the Chairman
vi!l have three additional copies made and will
then sign all four forms.
8. The original form will now be returned to the
farmer, one copy will be sent to the Area Com-
mittee, one copy to the Area Agricultural Instructor
.and one copy will be retained in the C.A.R.('.
9. On receipt of the copy of the approved grant,
the Area Agricultural Instructor will render all
available assistance to the relevant farmer in the
carrying out of the approved work.
10. When a farmer wi hes to obtain an instal-
ment of the grant, the Area Agricultural Instructor
w;ll assist the farmer, as may be necessary, to
enter relevant details on the claim form and will
*certify that the work has been satisfactorily done
to the 'alue of at least twice the amount of the
installment for which application is made.
11. Grants may be paid in a maximum number
of four instalments which need not be equal in

THE public are warned to be on the alert for one
cent pieces gilted to resemble 25 cent pieces.
Some are now in circulation and shopkeepers partic-
ularly are asked to pay special attention to shillings
and 25 cent pieces and check on the milled edge.
The spurious coins are easily detectable as they
have no milled edge.
Anyone tendering such false coin should be
detained and the nearest police station informed.

Station, Carriacou on Mlonday, 4th June, 1956,
commencing at 10.30 a m. when the following

A Rehabilitation Loan Scheme for whom
amounts have been approved for the purchase of
fertilizers and other farm materials are hereby
requested to inform their Area Committees of their
requirements, and the name of the Firm or Firms
for whom purchases are to be made in order
that Government Local Purchase Orders may be
issued to these Firms to enable delivery of these
requirements to be made.

A vacancy exists for a Senior Crown Counsel,
pensionable, wvth fixed salary of $7,200 p.a.
Appointment is subject to medical fitness.
Duties: To conduct prosecutions at Assizes
and when required in the Magistrates'
Courts, appearing for the Crown in civil
actions and in revenue cases, as directed,
advising Government in matters which may
be assigned to himr by the Attorney General,
and drafting legislation.
Qualifications: Barrister-at-Law of some years'
experience at the Bar and should have a
good knowledge of criminal law and pro-
cedure; substantial experience in Crown
Counsel practice and legal drafting is

granted in accordance with the Leave and
the Leave Passages Regulations. On
appointment, passages for the officer and
family not exceeding five passages in all
from the place of recruitment are payable.
If appointment on contract fcr three years
is preferred, a gratuity of 22/-% of salary
will be payable in respect of each completed
period of three months service, and passages
to the place of recruitment on the satisfac-
tory termination of the period of service.
A candidate who is not in Government
Service and who is over 40 years of age,
will be appointed on contract.
