Small of the Automatic Telephone Exchange
Buildings in the island, listed hereunder :-
St. George's Main Telephone Exchange.

Sauteurs Sub-Station

St. Paul's Sub-Station
Morne Rouge Sub-Station
Copies of plans, specifications, conditions of
Contract and forms of tender may be obtained
from the office of the Public Works Department on
payment of a deposit of $25 in the case of the
St. George's Main Telephone Exchange and of $5
in other cases, all deposits returnable on the re-
ceipt of a bona fide tender and the return of the
plans and documents.
Sealed Tenders endorsed with the name of the
work as per the list above, must be delivered to
the Chairman of the Tenders Board to reach him
by mid-day on Monday 6th February, 1956.

Maintenance of Government Lands
in the Morne Rouge Area.



ENDERS are invited for the annual mainten-
ance of the undermentioned areas of Govern-
ment Lands in the Mornc Rougo Aret:-
(1) That reclaimed area of land bounded on the
North-West by the Sea, on the South-East
by the Main Road to Quarantine Station,
on the South-West by lands occupied by
A. 0. Seon and on the North-East by area
(2).
(2) Approximately 16 acres of land cultivated in
coconuts and bounded on the North-West
by the Sea, on the South-West by area (1)
North-East by area (3) and on the South-
East by Grand Anse Road and part of Area
(1).
(3) Approximately 16 acres at present uncleared
and bounded on the North-West by the Sea,
on the North-East by lands of George
Banfleld, on the South-East by Grand Anse
Road and on the South-West by Area (2).
It is intended to clear area (3) and this area
would be added to the area to be maintained as
and when clearing is completed.
The Contractor should include in his tender for
grass-cuttiug and clearing, dra;n-cleaning including
Sea heads, clearing of blocks, control of weeds,
nndergrowth and defective or overhanging trees,
prevention of grazing, and any other matter
necessary for the proper upkeep of the area except
maintenance of roads and buildings. The Contract
for 1956 to commence on 1st February, 1956.
Tenders should be addressed to His Honour the
Administrator and delivered to his office to reach
there by noon on R wednesday 25th January, 1956.
The Government does not bind itself to accept
the lowest or any tender.

Tenders for the Supply of Fresh Milk.

fresh milk to Government institutions in St.
George's during the period 1st April to 31st
December, 1956.

Officer.

NOTICE.
OTICES of Employers Returns have been sent
to all Employers and Heads of Government
Departments and the co-operation of these Em-
ployers is requested so that the Returns may be
received at the Income Tax Department not later
than the 29th February next.
The Income Tax Ordinance provides that it
shall be the duty of every employer to send in
such a return and this implies that employers
should make it their business to secure the forms
and submit the returns within the prescribed
period.
Failure to submit these returns within the pre-
scribed period carries a penalty not exceeding $480.

factory foundation level and width, the placing of a
concrete foundation and the erection thereon of a
stone wall and a parapet and the back filling behind
the wall.
Specifications and form of tender can be obtained
from the Public Works Department or from any
District Road Officer. Tenders shall be delivered,

year.
The entry fee for a subject at Ordinary level will
be ten shillings and for ;, suljoecl at Advanced

Supreme Court of the Windward Islands and
Leeward Islands at Grenada, in its Criminal Juris-

town of St George, on Thursday, the 2nd day of
February, 1956, at 9.30 o'clock in the forenoon,
when and where all concerned and bound over to
prosecute or to give evdience or summoned as
Jurors or Witnesses are required to give their
personal attendance, and all Officers who have
taken Inquisitions, Depositions, Examinations,

GOVERNMENT NOTICE.

Vacant Post of Chief Agricultural
Extension Officer.

Department of Science and Agriculture.

APPLICATIONS are invited for the post of
Chief Agricultural Extension Officer in the
Department of Science and Agriculture.
2. The post is pensionable and the salary is in
the scale $3,120 x 144-4,128 x 192-4,896 per
annum. A temporary non-pensionable cost of
living allowance at the rate of $155.00 per annum
is payable. Entry into the salary scale will be
determined according to the qualifications and
experience of the candidate. A loan is obtain-
able towards the purchase of a motor vehicle, and
travelling allowance is payable in accordance with
the Public Officers Loan and Travelling Allowances
Regulations. Appointment will be subject to medi-
cal fitness, and will be on probation for two years
in the first instance.
3. Passage expenses and the cost of transfer of
transporting personal effects by sea up to a maxi-
mum of 12 tons (on fir.t appointment) are payable.
Leave passages to England for the officer and
wife are payable at the end of 3T years service.
No quarters are provided.
4. The main duties of the post are those associ-
ated with agricultural extension, in all its aspects,
among small scale agriculturists, including the
supervision and direction of agricultural extension
officers.
5. The minimum qualification is the lDiploma of
the Imperial College of Tropical Agriculture or its
equivalent and several years experience in the
field.
6. Applications stating age, qualifications, ex-
perience and present emoluments should be ad-
dressed to the Director of Agriculture, Department
of science and Agriculture, P.O. Box 505, Bridge
town, Barbados, and should be submitted not later
than the 31st January, 1956. The names of two
referees should be mentioned. .


GOVERNMENT NOTICE.

Vacant Post of Physiotherapist,
General Hospital, Barbados.

PPLICATIONS are invited for the above post.
The post is pensionable with salary in the
scale $2,400 x 120-2,880 per annum, plus a
temporary cost of living allowance of $156 per
annum. No quarters or other emoluments are
provided. The pcint cf cnt:;y into the salary scale
will be dependent on qualifications and experience.
Applicants should be members of the Chartered
Society of Physiotherapists.


Appointment may be permanent or on agreement
terms for a period of three years. Vacation leave
is earned at the rate of 45 days a year. Leave
passages are provided for permanent officers after
a tour of service of three and a half years. Pass-
age expenses to and from Barbados will be paid up
to a maximum of $1,440 each way.
Applications stating age, professional qualifi-
cations and experience, and accompanied by recent
testimonials, should reach the Chief Secretary,
Public Buildings. Barbados, not later than 25th
January, 1956.


GOVERNMENT NOTICE.


APPLICATIONS are invited for the following
temporary posts in the Public Works Depart-
ment, Barbados:-
(i) Assistant Atrhitect.
The salary of the post is at the rate of not less
than $4,800 per annum, plus a temporary cost of
living allowance at the rate of $155; per annum. -
Appointment will he on two years' agreement
with passageo expenses of officer and family payable
on appointment and completion of agreement up to
a nmximum of $1,440 each way.
Applidants should hold the qualification of
A.R.I.B.A. or its equivalent.
The officer will be required to assist the Director
of Public Works in the design and preparation of
plans of public buildings and institutions, and to
supervise this construction.
(ii) Three Assistant Engineers.
Salary is in the range $3,000 to $3,456 per
annum plus a temporary cost of living allowance
of $156 per annum.
Appointment will be on a month to month basis.
Applicants should hold a recognized building or
constructional engineering degree, and should have
had wide experience of the supervision of 1.rge
building projects.
The selected applicant will be required to super-
vise the erection by direct labour of large building
projects together with the responsibility of
accounting for the necessary labour and material.
(iii) Two Architectural Draughtsmen.
Salary is in the scale $1,800-2,400 per annum
plus a temporary cost of living allowance at the
rate of $156 per annum. Initial salary on appoint-
ment will be determined in the light of experience
and qualifications. Appointment will be on a
month to month basis.
Applicants should be capable of producing work-
ing drawings and details from sketch plans
Applications should be submitted to the Director
of Public Works, Public Works Department, the
Pine, St. Michael, to reach him not later than
21st January, 1956.
