Candidates for the Post of Nutrition
Ofiic3r, Windward Islands.

1. Appointment. The appointment is non-
poin.ionalhl, and will be for a period of two
yceir- in the first instance. It wili be subject
to Colonial Regulations and to the local
General Orders in force for the time being
in so far as they are applicable.
2. Salary. The salary is at the rate of 500
rising by annual increments of 1() to 0070O
per annum.
3. Allowances. Travelling and subsistence
allowances are payable in accordance with
local regulations in respect of approved
travel on duty.
4. Quarters. Quarters are not provided.
5. Leave and Passages. Vacation leave on

completed period of 3 months resident
service. The Officer will also b' eligible for

up the diets for all Government Institutions

the purchase, preparation and service of
meals in each. The officer may also be
required to organise school feeding and do
-,ome teaching of elementary nutrition and
cooking to adult groups sUCon as nurses and
teachers.
The officer will, subject to the general
direction of the Governor of the Windward
Isli.nds, be responsible to the Senior Medical
Officer of the Colony in which she is
we king.
8. Taxation. All Government officers are liable

Supreme court t of the Windward Islands and
Leeward Islands at Grenada, in its Criminal Juris-
diction, will be held at the Court House, in the
town of St. George, on lWednesday the 19th, day of
October, 1955, at 9.30 o'clock in the forenoon, when
n nd where all concerned and bound over to prose-
tute or to give evidence or summoned as Jurers
or Witnesses are required to give their personal

2. The duties of Repop t:rs are as follows:-
(i) attending meetings of the Legislative
Council and recording the proceedings
accurately in shorthand, or attending
at the Criminal or Civil Assizes of the

trial Judge, as well as such- other parts
of the proceeding s as le may direct
(ii) transcribing the notes taken and making
typewritten copies cf them either for
Hansard, or for the use ot the Court of
Criminal or Civil Appeal, as tie case

(iii) undertaking any Ather duties that may
hb assigned by ;-he Clerk of the Legis-
lature or by the Registrar of the
Supreme Court.
3. Applicants should not be under 25 or over 44
years of age, should have a good education and
must be capable of writing accurate shorthand at

a speed of not less than 15.) words per ruinute and
of typewriting at a speed of not less than (6 words
per minute. Previous experience in legislaaltir
and court reporting will be an advantage.
4. The successful candidate may be appointed,
according to his preference, either on a permanent
and pensionable basis subject, if the officer is not
already in government t einployment, to his serving
sati'fiacto ily as an Offic al or a Court Reporter
during a probationary period ,.f one year, or on a
three-year contract, renew\able by mutual consent
on such terms as may be agreed upon between the
Government and the person enggefd.
5. Vacation leave is earned at the rate of five
days for each completed month of resident service
up to a ml.xilmum of six months, subject to tlhe
completions of a minimum tour of service of two
years.

the satisfactory completion and renewal cf his
contract, would he eligible for the grant of assisted
leave passages in acccrdanco with t-he Public
Officers' Leave (Passages) Regulations No. 34 of
1952.

Guiana for himself, his wife and children (if any)
not exceeding five persons in all, provided they
either accompany him to British Guiana or join
him here within twelve months of his departure
for the Colony: (children to be under 18 years of

man, St. Lucia, British West Indies.

the non-pensionable post of Engineeiing

ST. VINCENT.

District Miedical Oflicer, St. Vincent.
2. Appointment till be on a three-ycar prcba-
tionary period for permanent employment with
pension (no',-c.onributing) at the age of 55, or on
short terms agreement fcr three years in the first
instance.
3. Salary is in the scale $3,840 x $120-$4,8(0.
Commencing salary will be determined according
to age, qualifications and experience.
4. District Medical Officers posted to Chateau-
belair will receive a duty allowance of pS i-i'.-0 per
annum and one of $1,500.00 if posted to Bequia.
5. Transport Allowance is payable in respect of
a motor car maintained by the Officer for official
'r-VElling.
Ft. Quarters are pr,.Ni led at a rental of 10% of
salary or 5% of the assessed value of the quarters,
whichever is less.
7. Free passages for the Officer, wife and children
under 18 years of age are provided on first
appointment as well as return passages on com-
pletion of agreement. In the case of an Oilicer
on permanent appointment, leave passages will be
provided for him and his wife up to a maximum of
$1,248 each way in respect of each 5 year period
of resident service.
8. Income Tax is payable at local rates.
9. Local leave is permissible and home leave

10. Candidates must possess medical qualifica-
tions registrable in the United Kingdom.
11. Appointment will he to St. Vincent in the
first instance, but the Officer is liable to transfer
to any post of equivalent status in the Windward
Islands.

the vacant pensionable post of Inspector of
Schools, St. Lucia.
Qualification : Trained Teacher, well experi-
enced in the work of Primary Schools and preferably
with External Academic and/or professional

Salary: $2,880 x 120-$3,600 per annum.
Travelling and subsistence allowance at the rate of
