old Government Launch "Doris", which may
be seen on davits in the Revenue Boat house near
to the St. George's Pier, together with the fittings
hereunder listed. Tenders will be considered lor:-
(a) The hall only, i.e. separately;
(b) The fittings as a whole or in lots,
as distinct from the hull;
(c) Hull and fittings complete.

NOTICE.
Government Savings Bank.


AVINGS Bank Depositors are hereby notified
that within one month from this date it is
proposed, in accordance with Regulation I1 of the
Savings Bark Regulations, to require 10 days
notice of withdrawal from any depositor who has
failed to deliver his or her Pass Book for
examination.
2. Regulations 11 and 12 are repeated here for
general information :-
Notice of Withdrawal.
11. The Treasurer may require ten days
notice of a withdrawal before paying it, but
imay, in his discretion, pay it either immedi-
ately or before the expiration of ten days.

Examination and Comparison of Pass Books.
12. Every depositor shall once in each year
in the month of February, forward his book to
the Treasurer for examination and comparison
with the Books of the Office, and for the
entry of any interest due to the 31st Decem-
ber previous.
If a depositor fails to so forward his book
and omits to do so wi hin one month after a
written request therefore has been served at
his residence, the Treasurer shall, if ihe thinks
fit, debit the depositor's account with the sum
not exceeding one shilling, to meet the costs
of the collection of the book. "

VACANT POST OF ASSISTANT ENGINEER. ELECTRICITY
AND TELEPHONE DEPARTMENT, GRENADA.


V PPLICATIONS are invited for the above post
.1 and may be addressed to the Secretary,
Public Service Commission, Government Office,
Grenada, B.W.I. to reach him on or before 3C/Ih
September, 1955.
Candidates should have served 4 years appren-
ticeship with an accredited firm of electrical or
mechanical manufacturers. They should hold a
Certificate equivalent to the City and Guild or
better. They must be conversant with the
installation of diesel distribution systems, trans-
formers, etc., the maintenance and operation of
electrical A.C. plants.
The successful Candidate will have additional
responsibility, under the Engineer in Charge, for
telephones until control of the system passes in
two years.
The post is permanent and pensionable and carries
salary in the scale of $3,120 x $1L'i-:T.:.40 per
annim. The qualifications and experience of the
successful candidate will be taken into account in
,fixing his point ot entry in the scale.
Travelling allowance is also payable at an
approved rate. The present rate is $912 per
annum.


Should a suitable candidate not be available,
consideration will be given to any applications
which may be received for the temporary filling .of
the post on a contract basis.
Free passages are provided on first appointment
for officer and family (wife and children) up to a
maximum of five passages.
Assisted passages to officer and wife to the
United Kingdom or ITrited States of America on
vacation leave up to a maximum of S528 per
passage each way. Minimum period to qualify for
assisted passages is a tour of five (5) years.
Quarters are not provided.
Housing accommodation is not easily available.
ff suitable Government quarters are available,
officer may he perniitted tc rent at a rate not
exceeding 10% ot salary.
Basic essential furniture can be procured.
Cutlery and crockery may be purchased locally.
Income tax is payable at approved rates.
Applications should be accompanied by two
recent testimonials.

WINDWARD ISLANDS PROPOSED SHIPPING
SERVICE.

OFFER' are invited to operate a local shipping
service in the Windward Islands, British
West Indies. The principal object is to provide
an adequate and regular passenger and cargo
service for the smaller islands which are known as
the Grenadines (Carriacou, Union Island, Mayreau
Canouan and Bequia) connecting them with
Grenada to the South and St. Vincent and

possibly St. Lucia to the North. Extensions to
Trinidad and Barbados might also be desired. The
exact schedule of the service would be for dis-
cussion, but it is desirable that in each fortnight
there should be at least three calls Northbound
and three Southbound at each of I he islands in the
Grenadines named above. The vessels employed
should he of shallow draught and of Ebhout 2W0
Stones deadweight capacity anld would hli\e to ho
capable of maintaining such a schedule in all
weathers. They should provide adequate cargo
space and accommodation for about ton cabin
passengers and a larger number of deck passengers.
Those interested in operating such a service
should communicate with the Chief Secretary,
Windward Islands, Grenada, British West Indies,
before the 15th November, 1955, giving an outline
of their proposals, including: type and number
of vessels to I)e operated; tonnage and speed;
passenger and cargo capacity; crew requirements;
and any conditions proposed. Those whose pro-
posals appear to justify it will then be invited to
enter into more detailed discussions.

APPLICATIONS are invited for the temporary
post of Assistant Surveyor in the Pubtli
Works D)epartment.
The successful candidate will be allowed salary
within the scale $2016 x 96-82592 per annum
appropriate to experience and/or qualifications.
Travelling allowance at the rate of 61.C00 per
month will he paid in addition.
Candidates should possess at least the Local
Surveyor's Licences issued by the Governor in
Council and should be able to carry out Cadastral,
Topographical and other Engineering Surveys.
Candidates possessing the School Certificate or
other similar or higher qualifications are preferable.
The appointment will he terminated by one.
month's notice from either party.
Applications must be in tho Candidate's own
handwriting and should state clearly:
(i) Full name and address
(ii) Date of Birth
(iii) Education
(iv) Qualification and Experience
(v) Certified copies of recent testimonials
(vi) Date available to commence duties.
Applications should be enclosed in sealed enve-
lopes endorsed "Assistant Surveyor" addressed to
the Secretary Public Service Commission and
delivered so as to reach him not later than 12 noon
on Friday 20th September, 19.55.
