NOTICE.

Post of Community Development Officer.


SPPLICATIONS are invited for the post cf
11 Community Development Officer for employ-
ment, in the first instance, under the Aided Self-
Help Housing Scheme.
2. (a) The post, which is non-pensionable, is
for a period of two years in the first instance and
carries a flat salary at the rate of S1,920 per
annum.
(b) An appropriate allowance will be paid in
respect of travelling required to be done under the
Scheme.
3. The duties of the post are:-
(i) To explain the principles and methods f[
Aided Self-Help, and to present the details
of the programme to the community.
(ii) To interview persoins who apply for par-
ticipation in the Scheme.
(iii) To organise the groups of self-helpers wio,.
have been selected for the projects.
(iv) To help in stimulating groups, and to
advise solutions for individual and group
problems.
(v) To perform any other relevant duties as
may be directed by the Superintendent
of Public Works.,
4. Applicants should have sotno training in thi
basic principles and methods of community develop-
ment and organis.ltion an.d should state in their
applications the following intorimation :-

(b) Schools attended and certificates obtained.

LIVESTOCK CENSUS.

(Under the Livestock (Annual Census)
Ordinance No. 8 of 1953).



1il, o\\lners of livestock and poultry are asked
1 to eonoperate fully with the Department of
Agriculture in the taking of a Census of all live-
stock in tfh colony. This census which will he
carried out during the month of April 1955, will
be, tho tirst of a series of annual livestock counts,
from which it is hoped that the Department will
be able tc assess the islands' milk and meat supply
more accurately with a view to assisting the
proper marketing of these products and rendering
more effective the department's schemes for the
improvement of livestock in the colony.
2. Forms have been printed and as from 1st
April will he available at ;,11 Police Stations, Post
Offices, Medical Centres, Schools and Agricultural
Stations. Owners of livestock are asked to call at
the nearest point, (in the case of schools livestock
owners should call between the hours of 3 and 4
p.mI. only), and with the assistance of the atten-
dant at the station to fill in the form which should
be left with tile attendant when completed.
3. Owners of livestock are earnestly requested
to inake every effort to make this census a success.
Inaccuirte returns will be very misleading and
lead to ill judged policies. Please give your full
co-operation.
4. The census is to be taken in regard to numbers
in the possession of the owner on 1st April 1955,
and all returns should be completed as soon as
possible after that date and in case later than 30th
April 1955.
5. So remember, on the 1st April go to your
nearest station, give the required information, and
so do your part in ensuring a better future for your
animals and for yourself.

Government Office.
No account for beef supplied by a Contractor
will be passed for payment at the Treasuir until

of accepting any ,part, of the tender.

Conditions of Contract.
: 1. The Contract to be from 1st May to the 31st
December, 1955 inclusive.
2. The contractor undertakes to deliver beef at
his own expense into tle Stores" of (Institutions)
at the agreed price, at such days, at such times,
and in such quantities as may be stated on the
requisition of the Head of the Department or
Officer in charge, and for the purposes of such
delivery any time so specified by the Head of the
Department or Officer in Charge, shall lie deemed
to be of tle essence of this Contract.
3. Such beef supplied must be of unexceptionable
quality, and according to the samples or specifica-
tion which accompanied the Tender, in cases where
such sample or specification was submitted.
4. Any beef considered by the Head of the
Department or the Officer in Charge to be of
inferior quality may be rejected by hinm, and shall
be immediately removed and replacci by the
Contractor at his own expense, without any
allowance being made to him for such Ieolf.
5. If the rejected beef is not removed within 6
hours from the time notice shall have been give-i
to the Contractor, it will be returned to, and at,
thie expense of the Contractor ; provided that if the
Contractor gives such explanation as may be sutis-

factory to the Governor, such reduction shall not
be made.
f. Should the Contractor neglect or refuse to
replace rejected beef or to supply any of the beef
contracted for at the time stated in the requisi-
tions, the Head of the Department or Officer in
Charge shall be at, liberty to purchase the said beef
from other persons; and tie difference between the
price paid for such beef and the contract price shall
be deducted from the next payment made to the
Contractor.
7. The Head of the Department or Officer in
charge may, if he should deem it necessary,
purchase beef at once to replace rejected beef.
8. If the Contractor should fail to comply with
paragraph 3,- or commit any of the irregularities
mentioned in paragraph 6 the Governor in Council
shall have power to terminate the Contract
immediately or i.t buch time as may appear to him
proper or convenient.
!. The Contract may he determined at any time
by three months' notice being given either by tihe
Contractor to the Colonial Secretary or by the
Colonial Secretary to the Contractor. Such notice
shall be deemed to relate to the whole Contract
and not to :iny item or items thereof.

Baskets (" Barrels") for growing Rooted
Cocoa Cuttings.

BEALED Tenders are invited to supply the
SCocoa Stations with potting baskets, for the
period 1st May to 31st July, 1955.
Details of the design and type of basket will be
supplied on application to the Agricultural Officer
(Coc-a).

from Grenada has been lifted under certain condi-

(b) Poultry is admitted without an Import
Permit from Trinidad provided that total shipments
(by vessel) are certified by the Deparktent of
Agriculture, Grenada, as free from Newcastle
disease.
Pigs are still not allowed to be imported into
Trinidad.
