NOTICE.

Export of Livestock.

F is hereby notified for general information that
the ban on import into Trinidad of Livestock
from Grenada has been lifted under certain condi-
tions as undermentioned :-
(a) Cattle, sheep and goats are admitted provided
an Import Permit from the Department of Agricul-
ture, Trinidad, has first been obtained ;
(b) Poultry is admitted without an Import
Permit from Trinidad provided that total shipments
(by vessel) are certified by the Department of
Agriculture, Grenada, as free from Newcastle
disease.
Pigs are still not allowed to be imported into
Trinidad.

LIVESTOCK CENSUS.




(Under the Livestock (Annual Census)
Ordinance No. 8 of 1953).




LL owners of livestock and poultry are asked
J t loco-operate fully with the Department of
Agriculture in the taking oi a Census of all live-
stock in the colony. This census which will be
ca, ried out during the month of April 1955, wil
be the first of a, series of annual livestock counts,
from which it is hoped that the Department will
be able tc as-ess the islands milk and meat supply
more accurately with a view to assisting the
proper marketing of these products and rendering
more effective the department's schemes for the
improvement of livestock in the colony.
2. Forms have been printed and as from 1st
April will be available at all Police Stations, Post
Offices, Medical Centres, Schools and Agricultural
Stations. Owners of livestock are asked to call at
the nearest point, (in the case of schools livestock
owners should cdll between the hours of 3 and 4
p.m. only), and with the assistance of the atten-
dant at the station to fill in the form which should
be left witl the attendant when completed.
3. Owners of livestock are earnestly requested
to make every effort to make this census a success.
Inaccurate returns will be very misleading and
lead to ill judged policies. Please give your full
co-operation.
4. The census is to be taken in regard to numbers
in the possession of the owner on 1st April 1955,
and all returns should be completed as soon as
possible after that date and in case later than 30th
April 1955.
5. So remember, on the 1st April go to your
nearest station, give the required information, and
so do your part in ensuring a better future for your
animals and for yourself.

INCOME TAX ORDINANCE.


Income Tax Rules.


,OTICE is hereby given that Income Tax
SReturns are required to be forwarded to the
Commissioners of Income Tax not later than the
31 1 I ail, 19553, by every person whose income
from every source whatsoever was over $480.00,
and every Company engaged in trade or business,
during the year 1954.
2. The Income Tax Forms of Return must be
fully and correctly completed and should show
deductions claimed. Supporting vouchers, partic-
ularly Interest and Life Insurance receipts, are
to be forwarded with the Returns.
3. Employers are requested to submit to tlhe
Commissioner of Income Tax not later than 31st
March, 1955, a list of employees whose incomes
were over $360.00 per annum during the \ear
1951.
4. Any person who may not have received a
Form applicable to hip '" her particular case may
obtain su.ch i um o;; applicationn at the Income
Tax Oliice, St. Georgo'i.s or any District Revenue
Office.
5. Attention is invi]',d to Section 59 of the
Ordinance which lays down that failure to comply

The Grenada Banana Co-operative Society
Ordinance No. 57 of 1954.

SLL growers of bananas who desire to become

make application in writing for membership so
that a Register of Members could he compiled.
Forms of Application may be obtained from the
Secretary (pro. tem) from collectors of iananas
and from the District Agricultural Officers.
Applications must reach the Secretary before
the 30th of March Ro that the register may be
compiled in time for revision before the 31st March
as required by section 12 of the Ordinance.
It is proposed to convene a general meeting of
the Society on Tlihrsdlay the 12hI April, 1955 for
the election of six members of a Committee, and a
notice to this effect will be published.

5. Rooted Cocoa Cuttings are delivered free of
charge to the applicants at a point, as near as
possible to the site at which they are to be planted,
accessible at the time to the motor vehicle convey-
ing the plants.
6. The conditions under which rooted cocoa
cuttings will be issued are as follows :-
(i) The area selected by an applicant will be
inspected by an authorised officer, as soon
as possible after the receipt of the applica-
tion, for the purpose of determining the
suitability of the site in regard to altitude,
soil type, wind protection and other
ecological and environmental conditions.
The applicant will then be notified whether
or not the area is approved for planting.
(ii) If for stated reasons the area is declared to
be unsuitable for planting cocoa clones, no
allocation of plants will be made to the
applicant.
(iii) If tle area is declared suitable, an authorized
officer will inform the applicant what
minimum action is required of him by the
Department of Agriculture, in regard to
provision of ground shade, windbreaks, soil
conservation measures, soil preparation etc.
The Agricultural Department will render all
assistance, guidance and advice in this
connection,
(iv) The minimum area for which plants will hb
issued will be that which will contain fifty
(50) rooted cuttings planted at a spacing of
10 ft. by 10 ft. in a single block, the equiva-
lent of one-eighth (-) of an acre.
(v) The area to be planted will be re-inspected
by an authorised officer immediately before
the proposed date of delivery of the plants,
