SSenor JORGE IGNACIO NICOLINI has been
appointed as Consul-General of the Argentine
Republic in London in place of Senor TAUREL with
jurisdiction including the United Kingdom Over-
sees Territories not already within the district of
an Argentine Consular officer at Hong Kong.
Senor NICOLINI has been accorded provisional
recognition in respect of his jurisdiction in the
Windward Islands pending the receipt of his Com-
mission of Appointment.

NOTICE


T ENDERS are hereby invited for the exclusive
right, for one year from January, 1955, to
sell all Government property which Governmept
desires to sell, through a licensed auctioneer, 'at
public auction.
Government will retain, the right to sell property
at auction under the provisions of sections 11 and.


12 of the Auctioneers Ordinance 1951 during the
continuance of any contract that may be awarded.
Tenders should be addressed to the Chairman of
the Tenders. Board, Treasury Department, St.
George's, and should reach him on or before the
20th dcay of Dedember, 1954. They should state
percentage rate (or rates) of the prices realized for
which the applicant would be prepared to sell the
various kinds of property entrusted to him, and
should distinguish between cases where a sale is
effected and those where no sale is effected.

ROYAL VISIT.

A RRANGEMENTS are being made for the hold-
I ing of a Public Rally at the Queen's Park in
the forenoon of Monday 7th February, 1955, during
the visit of Her Royal Highness the Princess
Margaret to the Colony.
At this Rally all the school children (Secondary
and Primary) whom it may be possible to bring
from all schools within the Colony will be present,
and it is hoped that they will be able to sing an
appropriate locally-composed song (both words and
music) in honour of Her Royal Highness.
Members of the public are invited to submit
suitable composition (preferably with music) for
the occasion.
From among the entries received selections will
be made by the Board of Education for submission
to His Excellency the Governor who will make the
final selection.
Entries should reach the Education Officer not
later than 24th December, 1954, and may be single
or joint efforts.

.Food: The iveraee level of retail prices of those articles taken into account in the food group
was the same as at 31St October, 1954, mnd 206% higher than at 1939.
Rent: 'There Ihas been no change recorded in the general level of the working-class rents.
SFuel, and Cleaning: There was no change in the figure for this class during the period under
review. The increase of 163% on the 1939 prices shown in the figure for 31st October,. 1954,
remained unchanged.
Clothing: Information collected from retailers indicated that at 30th November, 1954, the
average level of retail prices of clothing of the kinds generally bought by the working-class families
was the same as at 31st October, 1954, and 187% higher than at 1939.
All Others: There was no change in the prices of the articles under this group. The increase
of 87% on the 1939 prices shown in the figure fot 31st October, 1954, remained unchanged.
All Items: If the average changes in the cost of all the foregoing items are combined in accord-
ance with their relative importance in the 1939 working-class family expenditure, the resultant general
average increase at 30th November, 1954, was the same as at 31st October, 1954, and 191% higher than
1939.
