Tenders for Conveyance of Mails and Passengers
by Motor Bus on the Eastern and Western
sides of Grenada.

SEALED Tenders are invited for conveyance of
the Mails by Motor Bus for a period of three
months from the Ist day of January, 1955, between
the General Post Office, St. George's, and the Dis-
trict Post Offices of SI. David's, Grenville, Sauteurs,
Victoria and Gouyave, including the Postal Sta-
tions on the way as well as between the several
District Post Offices and Postal Stations referred
to. The Mails for the Eastern and Western sides
of the island are conveyed by different routes and
persons tendering should clearly indicate which
service is being tendered for.
The services will be performed daily (Sundays
and Public Holidays excepted) from Sauteurs and
St. George's and under such conditions as shall be
agreed upon in the respective contracts, informa-
tion as to which will be supplied on application to
the Colonial Treasurer.
The make and age of the vehicle proposed to be
used for the service should be stated.
Government does not bind itself to accept the
lowest or any tender.
Tenders close at 4 00 p.m. on Wednesday, the 15th
day of December, 1954, and should be addressed to
the Chairman, Tenders Board, St. George's, and
marked on the envelope Tender for Mail Service.'"

QEALED tenders are invited for conveyance of
the mail by motor bus between the District
Post Office of Grenville and the Postal Stations of
Birch Grove and La Digue for a period of three
months from the 1st Januvary, 1955.

The service will be operated daily (Sundays and
public holidays excepted) and the contractor will
be required to meet the contract bus for the Mail
Service Eastern Course at Grenville, morning and
afternoon.
The contractor will be required to perform the
service under such other conditions as shall be
agreed upon in the contract, information about
which will be supplied on application to the
Colonial Postmaster.
Full particulars of the vehicle to be employed on
the service, giving age, condition, make etc. should
be supplied.
Government does not bind itself to accept the
lowest or any tender.
Tenders close at 4.00 p.m. on Wednesday, the 15th
day of December, 1954, and should be addressed to
the Chairman, Tenders Board, St. George's, and
marked on the envelope "Tender for Mail Service."

Owners of such vehicles are advised to pay in-
spection fees from now onwards at their respective
District Revenue.Offices and then approach the
Inspector of Motor Vehicles at the Traffic Branch,
New Fire Station, Carenage, in advance with a
view to effecting any alterations. that may 'be
necessary to comply with the provisions of the
Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Ordinance, 1938,
and of the Regulations made thereunder.
Vehicles must be presented in a thoroughly
clean condition, and must have Deen :recently cyer-

steering arms, springs, trackrods, brake connections,
shackles, bolts, nuts, split pins, engine, engine

air filter, carburettor and all working parts mustI
be cleaned in order to admit of proper examination.
Dust covers, if used, must be removed before, pre-
sentation in order to admit of an examination
being made in full. All split pins, etc., must be
clearly exposed, also chassis and engine numbers.
Drivers' seats must be securely fastened so that the
driver can have proper control over the vehicle.
Spot lights, musical horns and whistles are strictly
prohibited. Each vehicle must have its tare and
maximum gross weight painted in white figures not
less than 21 inches in height upon a black ground
in a conspicuous place on the right or offside of
the vehicle.
The Registered Identification marks on all
vehicles must conform to provisions of Regulations
7, 8 and 9 and the Second Schedule to the Regula-
tions No. 35 of 1938, and be in such a condition as
to render each letter or figure readily distinguish-
able. The attention of owners of A'iotor Omnibuses
and Goods Vehicles is specially directed to Regula-
tion 23 (II) (a) regarding the position of front
lamps. Spot lights will not be allowed except with
the written approval of the Licensing Authority.
The attention of the owners of Hiring Cars and
Motor Omnibuses is directed to the Motor Vehicles
and Road Traffic (Amendment) Regulations, No. 6
of 1914, as amended by the Motor Vehicles and
Road Traffic (Amendment No. 2) Regulations,
No. 70 of 1946 which require that printed copies
of the Tariffs of Maximum Fares be displayed in
such Vehicles. These are now available and may
be purchased at the Treasury, St. George s, and at
any District Revenue Office, at 4 cents per copy.
Vehicles which have been found by the Inspector
to have defects must not be used on the roads
until they have been issued with a Certificate,
certifying that the.vehicles may be duly licensed.

ROYAL VISIT.

ARRANGEMENTS are being made for the hold-
LX ing of a Public Rally at the Queen's Park in
the forenoon of Monday 7th February, 1955, during
the visit of Her Royal Highness the Princess
Margaret to the Colony.
At this Rally all the school children (Secondary
and Primary) whom it may be possible to bring
from all schools within the Colony will be present,
and it is hoped that they will be able to sing an
appropriate locally-composed song (both words and
music) in honour of Her Royal Highness.
Members of the public are invited to submit
suitable composition (preferably with music) for
the occasion.
From among the entries received selections will
be made by the Board of Education. for submission
to His Excellency the Governor who will make the
final selection.
Entries should reach the Education Officer not
later than 24th December, 1954, and may be single

Maintenance of Government Lands in
the Morne Rouge Area.

TENDERS are invited for the annual main-
L tenance of the undermentioned areas of
Government Lands in the Morne Rouge Area :-
(1) That reclaimed area of land bounded on
the orth West by the Sea, on the South-east
by the Main Road to Quarantine Station, on
the s'outh-west by lands occupied by A, O.
Seon and on the North-east by area (2).
i :(2) Approximately 16 acres of land cultivat-
ed in coconuts 4nd bounded on the North-
vest by the Sea, on tho South-west by area
(1) North-east by area (3) and on the South-
east by Grand Anse Road and part of area (1).
(3) Approximately 16 acres at present un-
cleared and bounded on the North-west by the
Sea, on the North-east by lands of George
Banfield, on the South-east by Grand Anse
Road and on the South-west by area (2),
It is .intended to clear area (3) and this area
would be added to the area to be maintained as
and when clearing is completed.
The Contractor should include in his tender for
grass-cutting and clearing, drain-cleaning including
Sea heads, clearing of blocks, control of weeds,
undergrowth and defective or overhanging trees,
Prevention of -grazing, and any other matter
necessary for the proper upkeep of the area except
maintenance of roads and buildings. The Contract
for 1965 to, commence on 1st January, 1955.

Applications for Scholarships under the
Caribbean Vocational Training
Scheme, 1955.


T HE Grenada Government has been informed of
the arrangements proposed by the Foreign
Operations Administration of the United States of
America, for the consideration of applications for
vocational training in Puerto Rico in 1955.
Foreign Operations Administration are particularly
anxious to assist those territories which lack voca-
tional training facilities locally.
It is expected that not more than 48 applications
will be approved from the British Caribbean
territories and not more than 16 applications will be
considered from the Windward Islands.
It should be noted that facilities are offered
under the Scheme for 1955 in institutions in
Puerto Rico other than the Metropolitan Voca-
tional School.
The value of the Scholarships to be awarded
will be $150 U.S., a month for Junior Participants
(between ages of 17-22 years) and $240 U.S., a
month for Senior Participants. Most of the
courses have been planned to last one year but
others will have shorter or longer periods depend-
ing on the needs of the trainees concerned.
Applications will be considered from persons
between the ages of 17 and 35 years only and may
be addressed to to the Secretary, Public Service
Commission, Government Office, St. George's, to
reach him not later than 15th December. 1954,

SEALED Tenders are invited for the contract
for the sale of ice in Grenada on the following
terms and conditions:-
(i) Purchase price ex-factory-75 cents per
block of not less than 105 lb. Minimum
quantity to be purchased 2,000 tons per
annum.
(ii) detail price--1 cent per lb. in St. George's
town; elsewhere at 3 cents for each 2 lb.
or part thereof.
(iii) The contractor may be required to maintain
up to four depots in the town of St. George's
at least three of which must be established
immediately at the Carenage, the Market
Square area, and Montserrat. In addition
the contractor will be required to provide
immediately at least one other dep6t in
each of the remaining parishes. .:
(iv) The contract is. awarded for a period of
three years with effect from-1st Jantiary,
1955, subject to review of wholesale and
retail prices at the end of each year. If
these prices are not mutually auccoptahle at
the end of each year the contact will be
subject to the Governor's final decision.
