S PATENT, bearing date at WESTMINSTER the twenty-seventh day of August, One
thousand nine hundred and fifty-one; I do by this Commission under the Public Seal
of the Island of GRENADA appoint you the said WILLIAM GEOFFREY Boss, Financial
and Economic Adviser, Windward Islands, to be my Deputy within the said
WINDWARD ISLANDS from on or about the 15th day of October, One thousand
nine hundred and fifty-four and until further orders, and in that capacity,
should the necessity arise for so doing, to exercise, perform and execute for
.and on behalf of the! Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the WINDWARD ISLANDS
during the .period recited, but no longer, all things that belong to the office' of
Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the WINDWARD ISLANDs according to the tenor
of such Letters Patent already recited or in other Letters Patent adding to, amending
or substituting for the same, and subject to the Royal Instructions and other
Instructions passed under the Royal Sign Manual and Signet to the Governor and
Commander-in-Chief of the said WINDWARD ISLANDS of GRENADA, ST. VINCENT,
ST. LuCIA and DoMINICA, and during Her Majesty's pleasure :

continue to act as Deputy to the Governor aftex the Governor has arrived at
Grenada or some other Officer having prior right so to aet or to administer the
Government of the WIN~WARD ISLANDS has notified that he is about to assume it:
III. AND I DO HEREBY require and command all and singular Her Majesty's
Officers, Civil, Military, Naval, Air and otherwise, and all others the inhabitants of the
said WINDWARD ISLANDS and all others whom it may concern to take due notice thereof
and to give their ready obedience accordingly.

PPLICATIONS are invited for the post of
Graduate Master, Grenada Boys' Secondary
School.
2. The salary of the post is at the rate of $2,304
rising by annual increments of $96 to $2,880 per
annum.
.3. Applicants should state ability to teach some
of the following subjects:- Spanish, French,
Geography and Mathematics.
4. The post if pensionable and the holder will be
subject to Colonial Regulations and local General
Orders in force.
(a) Age.
(b) Schools or University at which educated
and certificates or diploma obtained.

Rent: There has been no change recorded in the general level of the working-class rents.
Fuel and Cleaning: There was no change in the figure for this class during the period under
review. The increase of 163% on the 1939 prices shown in the figure for 31st August, 1954,
remained unchanged.
Clothing: Information collected from retailers indicated that at 30th September, 1954, the
average level of retail prices of clothing of the kinds generally bought by the working-class families
was the same as at 31st August, 1954, and 187% higher than at 1939.
All Others: There was no change in the prices of the articles under this group. The increase
of 87% on the 1939 prices shown in the figure for 31st August, 1954, remained unchanged.
All Items: If the average changes in the cost of all the foregoing items are combined in accord.
ance with their relative importance in the 1939 working-class family expenditure, the resultant general
average increase at 30th September, 1954, was the same as at 31st August, 1954, and 191% higher than
at 1939.
