THE appointment of Mr. ROBIN BROOK, O.B.E.,
nas a Deputy Chairman of the Colonial Develop-
ment Corporation expired on the 31st October and
the Secretary of State for the Colonies has appoint-
ed Mr. H. N. HUME, C.B.E,, M.C., from 1st
November, 1953, in his place.
In view of the appointment by the Corporation
of Mr. W. RENfELL as Chief Executive, the post
of Deputy Chairman :will .not have executive
functions, and Mr. HUME, who has hitherto been
a part time member of the Board, will continue to
serve in.,hat capacity but will, of course, have the
additional duty of presiding over the Board in the
absence of the Chairman.

IN pursuance of the requirements of section 3 (2) (a) of the Aid to Pioneer Industries Ordinance,
1952, it is hereby notified for general information that the Governor-in-Oouncil :proposes to make
the undermentioned Order under section 3 of the said Ordinance. Any person who objects to the
making of such Order shall give notice in writing of his objection and of the grounds on which he
relies in support thereof to the Clerk of the Executive Council on or before the 5th February, 1954.

Order made by the Governor in Council under section 3 () of the Aid to Pioneer
Industries Ordinance, 1952.
(Gazetted 1954).


1. Short title. This Order may be cited as the
AID TO PIONEER INDUSTRIES (MANUFACTURE OF JAMS, JELLIES
AND FRUJi'I Pi~ESEERVES) ORDER, 1954.

2. Declaration of Pioneer Industry. The manufacture of Jams, Jellies and Fruit Preserves is
hereby declared to be a pioneer industry and Jams, Jellies and Fruit Preserves are hereby declared to
be pioneer products for the said purposes.

Morne Rouge Area.

T ENDERS are invited for the sole right to
Harvest the Coconut Crop from the Under-
mentioned area of Government Lands in the Morne
Rouge Area: -
(1) That reclaimed area of land bounded on the
North-West by the Sea, on the South-East
by the main road to Quarantine Station,
on the South-West by lands occupied by
A. O. Seon and on the North East by
area (2),
(2) Approximately 16 acres of land cultivated
in coconuts and bounded on the North-
West by the Sea, on the South-West by
area (1), North-East by area (3), and on
the South-East by Grand Anse Road and
part of area '1),
(3) Approximately 16 acres at present uncleared
and bounded on the North-West by the sea,
on the North-East by lands of George
Banfield, on the South-East by Grand Anse
Road and on the South-West by area (2).
The Contract will run from 8th February, to
31st December. 1954.
Tenders should be addressed to the Superinten-
dent of Public Works and delivered to his office to
reach there by noon on Monday, 25th January,
1954.
The Government does not bind itself to accept
the highest or any tender,

NUTMEGS.
N order to clarify a previous notice on the subject
of the granting of permits for transactions in
licensable produce, it is hereby notified that
applications for the sale of DRIED NUTMEGS
should be made to the Authorising Officer through
the Grenada Co-operative Nutmeg Association or its
Agents, and not through licensed dealers as in the
case of other licensable produce.

SALE OF LICENSABLE PRODUCE.

T is notified for general information that the
undermentioned persons have been appointed
as additional authorising officers under the Sale of
Licensable Produce (Control) Ordinance:-
(a) The Revenue Officer, Sauteurs, for the Parish
of St. Patrick's vice the Agricultural Assis-
tant, Tivoli.
(b) The Agricultural Assistant, Tivoli, and the
Revenue Officer, Grenville, for the Parish of
St. Andrew's in addition to the Agricultural
Officer.
(c) Mr. D. M. B. Oromwell in addition to Mr.
W. H. Hagley for the parish of St. George.
It is further notified for the information of all
Nutmeg Growers that the undermentioned Man-
agers of Nutmeg Receiving Stations and Agents of
the Grenada Co-operative Nutmeg Association
have been appointed to be Authorising Officers
under the Sale of Licensable Produce (Control)
Ordinance for the purpose of granting licences for
transactions in nutmegs and mace only.

Maintenance of Government Lands
in the Morne Rouge Area,

T ENDERS are invited for the annual main-
1 tenance of the undermentioned areas of
Government Lands in the Morne Rouge area:-
(1) That reclaimed area of land bcunded on the
North West by the sea,.on the South-east
by the main read to Quarantine Station,
on the South-west by lands occupied by
A. O. Seon and on the North-east by
area (2).
S(2) Approximately 16 acres of land cultivated in

SIt is intended to clear area (3) during 1954 and
the area would be added to the area to be main-
tained as and when clearing is completed,
The Contractor should include in his tender for
grass-cutting and clearing, drain-cleaning including
sea-heads, clearing of blocks, control of weeds
undergrowth and defective or overhanging trees,
prevention of grazing' and any other matter
necessary for the proper upkeep of the area except
maintenance of rdads and buildings. The Contract
will run from 8th February to 31st December,
1954,

dent of Public Works and delivered to his office to
reach there by noon on Monday 25th January
1954.

Webb Scholarship.

AScholarship, known as the Webb Scholarship,
may be awarded in 1954.
The Scholarship is awarded to a woman student
normally resident in one of the less developed areps
of the British Commonwealth of Nations. The
Scholarship is iawarded4or the I urpose-of providing
her with an opportunity to receive a liberal
education at university standard which would fit
her to play a leading role in the further, develop-
ment of her community.
The value of the Webb Scholarship is 250 a
year.


A candidate must be qualified for matriculation
as an undergraduate student of the University of
London. The Scholarship is primarily intended
for an undergraduate student, but may in
exceptional circumstances be awarded to a .post
graduate student.
A candidate must send written notice of her
intention to compete for the Scholarship to the
Registrar of the College on or before 1 March. She
will be required to submit, on a form which will
be supplied by the Registrar, particulars of her
qualifications and of the studies she wishes to
pursue in the event of the Scholarship being
awarded to her.
The candidate selected must pursue a course of
study approved by the appropriate Faculty.
The Scholarship is tenable for the minimum
period required for the completion of the course to
which the Scholar is admitted, subject to the
provision that the tenure shall not exceed four
sessions.


UP TO ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS
REWARD
A reward of up to one thousand dollars
($1,000-00) will be paid to any person or
persons giving information to the Superintendent,
of Police which information leads to the arrest and
conviction of any person or persons who instiga-
ted, commanded, counselled, procured, solicited,
aided, facilitated, encouraged, promoted or con-
spired with any other person or persons who set
fire to the Overseer's house at Bopland Estate,
Gouyave, on the 28th November, 1953, the
watchman's house at Belmont Estate, St. Patrick's,
on the 30th November, 1953, Theresa Phillips'
house at Chantimelle on the 2nd December. 1953,
Mrs. Robinsoni Bartholomew's dwelling house at
Belmont, St. Patrick's on 6th December, 1953,'or
to any of these houses; or to the fishing boat of
Irvie Banfield of Gouyave on 2nd December, 1953,
or who gives information to a similar effect, in
any other case of setting fire to buildings or
property or of planning to set fire to them.

Supreme Court of the Windward Islands and
Leeward Islands at Grenada, in its Criminal
Jurisdiction, will be held at the Court House. in
the town of St. George, on Wednesday, the 5rd day
of February, 1954, at ten o'clock in the forenoon,
when and where all concerned and bound over to
prosecute or to give evidence or summoned as
Jurors, or Witnesses are required to give their
personal attendance, and all Officers who have taken
Inquisitions Depositions, Examinations, Recogniz-
ances or other papers cognizable by the Court are-
