that the Queen will not be advised to exercise Her
Majesty's power of disallowance with respect to the
following Ordinance of the Grenada Legislature:-
No. 11 of 1952-An Ordinance to make provision
for the protection of Praedial Produce.
No. 32 of 1952.-An Ordinance to amend the
Praedial Larceny Ordinance, 1952.

GOVERNMENT NOTICE.

Licensable Produce.

T is notified for general information that as from
Thursday, 26th November, 1953, the provisions
of the Sale of Licensable Produce (Control) Ordi-
nance, No. 1 of 1952 were brought into effect by a
Proclamation, S.R. & O. No. 43 of 1953, dated
25th November, 1953.
2. This Ordinance provides that 'no person shall,
without written consent of an authorised officer
and subject to such conditions as may be expressed
therein, buy, sell, offer for sale or deliver to any
other parson any licensable produce". This sec-
tion does not apply to the export of nutmegs by
the Grenada Co-operative Nutmeg Association.
3. For the purpose of the above Ordinance, the
Authorised Officer means the Director of Agricul-
ture or any other officer appointed under the
Ordinance,
4. The object of the Ordinance is to control the
sale or delivery of Licensable Produce at such
times as the provisions of the Ordinance are
brought into operation.
5, Licences to move particular lots of licensable
produce will be granted only under special con-
ditions as follows:-
(a) For the shipment of bagged and finished
products from the port of St. George's.
(b) For the movement of bagged and finished
products to licensed dealers, in cases of
emergency only.
Applications will be entertained only from the
licensed dealers who are to receive or ship the
product in question, Direct applications from
producers will not be considered.
Applications from dealers should be in du, licate
and should state the name and address of the
supplier or suppliers, the number cf bags to be
taken possession of in each case, the premises on
which the licensable produce is located and the
nature of the emergency which prompts the appli-
cation. In all ca:es the Produce Sellers books and
particulars of affidavit must accompany each
application.
A copy of every application and every licence
granted will be sent to the Superintendent of
Police for record,
In the case of the movement of licensable
produce from one dealer to another, no licence will
be granted until the premises of the dealer issuing
the stock have been inspected and the application
recommended by a Produce Inspector.
Applications cannot be entertained in respect of
any but bagged and finished produce.
All applications should be addressed to "The

I am in possession of a few copies of the Syllabus
for the Intermediate and Final Examinations
to be held in the year 1C54. Anyone intending to
take any of these examinations should apply early
for a copy.

NOTICE.
TENDERS are hereby invited for the exclusive
right, for one year from 1st January, 1954, to
sell all Government property which Government
desires to sell, through a licensed auctioneer, at
public auction.
Government will retain the right to sell property
at auction under the provisions of section i1 and 12
of the Auctioneer Ordinance 1951 during the con-
tinuance of any contract that may be awarded.
Tenders should be addressed to The Government
Secretary, Government Office, St. George's, and
should reach him on or before the 1st day of
December, 1953. They should state percentage
rate (or rates) of the prices realized for which the
applicant would be prepared to sell the various
kinds of property entrusted to him, and should
distinguish between cases where a sale is effected
and those where no sale is effected.

half-yearly inspection of these vehicles will com-

Owners of such vehicles are advised to pay in-
spection fees from now onwards at their respective
District Revenue Offices and then approach the


Inspector of Motor Vehicles at the Traffic Branch,
New Fire Station, Carenage, in advance with a
view to effecting any alterations that may be
necessary to comply with the provisions of the
Motor Vehicles and RoadTr.iffic Ordinance, 1938,
and of the Regulations made thereunder.
Vehicles must be presented in a thoroughly
clean condition, and must have been recently over-
hauled. The body and wings axle, chassis, frame,
steering arms, springs, trackrods, brake connections,
shackles, bolts nuts, split pins engine, engine
shield and case, clutch, gearbox, magneto or coil,
air filter, carburettor, and all working parts must
be cleaned in order to admit of proper examination.
Dust covers, if used, must be removed before pre-
sentation in order to admit of an examination
being made in full. All split pins, etc., must be
clearly exposed, also chassis and engine numbers.
Drivers' seats must be securly fastened so that
the driver can have proper control over the
vehicle. Spot lights, musical horns and whistles
are strictly prohibited Each vehicle must have
its tare and maximum gross weight painted in
white figures not less than 2 inches in height
upon a black ground in a conspicuous place on the
right or offside of the vehicle.
The Registered Identification marks on all
vehicles n.ust conform to provisions of Regu-
lations 7, 8 and 9 and the Second Schedule to the
Regulations No. 35 of 1938, and be in such a con-
aition as to render each letter or figure readily
distinguishable. The attention of owners of Motor
Omnibuses and Goods Vehicles is specially direc ed
tn Regulation 23 (II) (a) regarding the position of
front lamps. Spot lights will not be allowed except
with the written approval of the Licensing
Authority.
The attention cf the owners of Hiring Cars and
Motor Omnibuses is directed to the Motor Vehicles
and Road Traffic (Amendment) Regulations, N o 6
of 1944, as amended by the Motor Vehicles and
Road Traffic (Amendment No. 2) Regulations.
No. 70 of 1946 which require that printed copies
of the Tariffs of Maximum Fares be displayed in
such Vehicles. These are now available and may
be purchased at the Treasury, St. George's, and at
any District Reve .ue Office, at 4 cents per copy.
Vehicles which have been found hy theInspector
to have defects must not be used on the roads
until they have been issued with a Certificate,
certifying that the vehicles may be duly licensed.

ELECTRICITY.

December, 1953, electric current consumers
will be allowed until the 2nd day in the month
following that in which the bills are sent to them
for payment.
Disconnection for non-payment of electric cur-
rent bills will commence on the 3rd day of every
month, This disconnection will be made fromthe
street, and a minimum charge of One Dollar and
fifty cents (1.50) will be made for reconneotion.

Post of Assistant Colonial Engineer Public
Works Department, St. Lucia.

APPLICATIONS are invited for the post of
Assistant Colonial Engineer, Public Works
Department, St. Lucia.
2. The Assistant Colonial Engineer will be
required to assist the Colonial Engineer and help
in design and construction and maintenance of
Public Works.
3. He will be subject to Her Majesty's Colonial
Regulations and to the General Orders of the
Colony.
4. The post, which is pensionable, carried a
salary scale of $2,880 x $120 $3,840.
5. A transport allowance is payable in accordance
with local regulations at the current rate of $300
per annum basic allowance plus mileage allowance
of 12c. for every mile travelled on duty, and the
officer will be required to keep a car for the per-
formance of his duties.
6. Subsistance allowance will be paid in accor-
dance with local regulations at approved rates when
travelling in the Colony outside his station.
7. Quarters are not provided
8. Free passages to St. Lucia for the successful
candidate, his wife and a maximum of 3 children
will be provided.
9. Applicants should state :-

(c) Nature of present and past employment.
(d) Details of experience.
10. Applications which should be accompanied
by two recent testimonials and a medical certificate
