HIS Excellency EDWARD BETHAM BEETHAM, C.M.G., C.V.O., O.B.E., Governor
and Commander-in-Chief of the Windward Islands, left the Colony for St.
N pursuance of authority conferred upon him by Letters Patent, His Excellency
the Governor has issued a Commission appointing Louis COOLr-LARTIGUE,
Esquire, Chief Secretary Windward Islands, to be Governor's Deputy, Windward
Islands, with effect from 25th August, 1953, until further notice.
His Excellency's Commission is published for general information.

Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Officer of the Most
Excellent Order of the British Empire, Governor ard Commander-
S in-Chief in and over the Windward Islands, comprising the
Islands of Grenada, St. Vincent, St. Lucia, and Dominica, and
their Dependencies, issued under my Hand at Government House,
Grenada, and the Public Seal of the said Island of Grenada,
this 24th day of August, One thousand nine hundred and fifty-three.

BY virtue of the power and authority in me vested by WINDWARD ISLANDS
LETTERS PATENT bearing date at WESTMINSTER the twenty-seventh day
of August, One thousand nine hundred and fifty-one, I do by this Com-
mission under the Public Seal of the Island of GRENADA appoint you the said
Louis COOLS-LARTIGUE, Chief Secretary, Windward Islands, to be my
Deputy within the said WINDWARD ISLANDS from on or about the 25th day of
August, One thousand nine hundred and fifty-three and until further orders, and
in that capacity, should the necessity arise for so doing, to exercise, perform, and
execute for and on behalf of the Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the WIND-
WARD ISLANDS during the period recited, but no longer, all things that belong to the
office of Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the WINDWARD ISLANDS according to
the tenor of such Letters Patent already recited or in other Letters Patent adding
to, amending or substituting for the same, and subject to the Royal Instructions and
other Instructions passed under the Royal Sign Manual and Signet to the Governor
and Commander-in-Chief of the said WINDWARD ISLANDS of GRENADA, ST. VINCENT, ST.
LUCIA and DOMINICA,and during Her Majesty's pleasure:
II. AND I DO HEREBY DIRECT that you the said Louis COOLS-LARTIGUE, Esquire,
Chief Secretary, Windward Islands, shall not continue to act as Deputy to the
Governor after the Governor has arrived at Grenada or some other Officer
having a prior right so to act or to administer the Government of the WINDWARD
ISLANDS has notified that he is about to assume it:
III. AND I DO HEREBY require and command all and singular Her Majesty's
Officers, civil, military, naval, air and otherwise, and all others the inhabitants of the
said WINDWARD ISLANDS and all others whom it may concern to take due notice thereof
and to give their ready obedience accordingly.
