University of Puerto Rico. The course will com-
mence on 1st September, 1953.

at Public Auction on Thursday 20th August, 1953,

Postal Department to every person paying customs
duties and associated parcel posts charges over

Regulation of Traffic.
Y virtue of the powers vested in me under
Section 79 of the Motor Vehicles and Road
Traffic Ordinance, 1938, I hereby order that be-
tween the hours of 4 and 6 p.m. on Thursday the
20th day of August 1953- that portion of the road-
way on the Carenage which lies between its
junction with the entrance to the Pier and the
Empire Theatre' shall be closed to Vehicular
Traffic.

NOTICE.

DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE.

Apprenticeship Training Scheme 1953/4

PPLICATIONS are invited for four (4) vacancies
in connexion with the 1953/4 Agricultural
Apprenticeship Training Course. organised by the
Department of Agriculture, which will commence
on October 1, 1953.
2. Applicants must state their age and educational
qualifications, and previous experience in agriculture.
In addition, reasons should be given fcr their
interest in the above-mentioned course and also
some indication of the opportunities that will be
available to them, on completing the course, for
practising agriculture.
3 The course is designed to provide training in
the practical aspects of agriculture, animal hus-
bandry etc., applicable to Grenada. Selection will
normally be made of candidates between the ages
of 17 to 20 years old.
4 It must be clearly understood that Government
is under no obligation, expressed or implied to offer
any employment in the Department of Agriculture
on the termination of the course.
5. The successful applicants will each receive an
allowance of $384 per annum during the period of
the course, and in addition will be supplied with
furnished quarters at Mount Moritz Agricultural
Station.
6. Applications should be addressed to the
Director of Agriculture, Department of Agriculture,
-t. George's, and should reach him not later than
August 31, 1953.

NOTICE.


APPLICATIONS are invited for the post of
Headmistress of the Girls' High School in
St. Kitts, which will be vacated by the present-
holder on the 31st August, 1953. The school roll
at present numbers 180 and courses are offered up
to the standard of Cambridge Overseas School
Certificate.
2. The post is pensionable and carries a salary
of 750 per annum. An unfurnished flat is avail-
able on the school premises at.a rental of 050 per
annum. The appointment will be on probation for
three years and subject to the passing of a,
satisfactory medical examination.
3. Applicants should possess a degree of a
recognized University within the Commonwealth,
together with a Teacher's Diploma. The Head-
mistress will be required to teach mathematics.
throughout the school and ability to teach. com-
mercial subjects will be regarded as an asset.
4. The candidate selected for the appointment
will be required to sign an undertaking to repay
the cost of passages and other travelling expenses
if.the post is relinquished within three years for
any reason other than mental or bodily infirmity.
5. Applications with at least two testimonials
and a photograph should be submitted to the
Administrator of St. Kitts, Nevis and Anguilla,
not later than the 3Ist August, 1953.
