T is hereby notified for general information that,
in pursuance of the powers vested in him under
the Land Acquisition Ordinance, 1945, His Excel-
lency the Acting Gcvernor has been pleased to
appoint Mr. RALPH G. OGILIVIE to be the
Authorised Officer for the purposes of the acquisi-
tion of the following let of land:-
All that lot of land situate at Snug Corner
in the parish of Saint George in the island of
Grenada containing by admeasur.ment 2040
square feet and bounded on the West and on
the South by public roads on the North by
land of Lintorn Williams and on the South by
lands of the heirs of Jeremiah and lands of
Rosena Mitchell;

Grenada Agricultural Scholarship.

PPLICATIONS are invited for the award of
an Agricultural Scholarship tenable at the
Imperial College of Tropical Agriculture for a period
of three years beginning about October, 1953.
Applicants should submit the following:--
(a) Birth Certificate;
(b) Evidence of attendance at a school in this
colony for NOT LESS THAN THREE
YEARS preceding the application;
(c) Testimonials from tw6 persons other than
school teachers under whom education
was received;
(d) Testimonials from Head Teachers of the
schools in the Colony which they have
attended giving all significant details of
school career;
(e) School leaving certificate of the University
of Cambridge Examinations Syndicate, or
an equivalent examining body showing
that the applicant has passed in one or
more subjects cf the Science Group ;
(f) A Certificate of fitness from a Medical
Officer;
(g) Evidence of British Nationality.
Applications must be submitted to the Adminis-
trator, Grenada, not later than 31st May, 1953.

December, 1953.

NOTICE is hereby given that the above Exam-
inations will take place in December as
usual.
The Entry Forms must be returned duly com-
pleted and accompanied by Treasury Receipts for
the Fees on or before Saturday 30th May, 1953.
The Fees payable are : -
(a) For the School Certificace ... $13.80
(b) For the Higher School Certificate :-
Approved School Candidates .... $19.20
Other entries (first unit) ... 4.80
Each subsequent unit ... 2.40
With a maximum fee of ... 21.60
To these must be added the following local
fees :-
(a) School Certificate .... ... $3.60
(b) Higher School Certificate ... 5.00
An additional fee of $2.40 must be paid by each
candidate taking Science in any form (except
Hygiene).
Should any complete Form be.received between
the 1st and 5th June it will be accepted provided
that an additional late fee of $1.20 accompanies it,
but no late entry will be valid after 5th June,
1953.

NOTICE.


Qualifications: Applicants should have broad-
casting experience particularly in script
writing and production of radio programmes.
Experience in commercial broadcasting will
be of assistance although not necessary.
Applicants should also have good administra-
tive experience and business ability. They
should also possess a sound knowledge of
conditions in the Caribbean Area and should
be familiar with current world events.
Technical knowledge of wireless trans-
mission is not required. Knowledge of
copyright laws and the laws of libel and
slander is desirable, though not essential.
Quarters: Quarters are not provided.
Leave & Passages: The officer will be eligible
to earn leave at the rate of one week for
each completed period of three months
resident service. Free first class passages
are provided on appointment and on satis-
factory termination of contract for the
officer and his family between Grenada and
the place of recruitment. Leave passages
are not provided.
Further particulars are obtainable from the Chief
Secretary, Windward Islands, Grenada, to whom
applications, with three testimonials and a recent
photograph should be addressed to reach him not
later than 30th April 1953.

Income Tax Rules.

NOTICE is hereby given that Income Tax
Returns are required to be forwarded to the
Commissioners of Income Tax not later than the
31st May, 1953, by every person whose income
from every source whatsoever was over $480.00,
and every Company engaged in trade or business,
during the year 1952,

fully and correctly completed showing the deduc-
tions claimed and the necessary vouchers in

SPPLICATIONS are invited for the two posts
1A of Tutor (Crop Husbandry) and Tutor
(Animal Husbandry) for appointment about August
1953, by the Eastern Caribbean Farm Institute,
which is to be opened in Trinidad later in the year
by seven British West Indian Governments, as a
residential institution for 40 students, to train Staff
of Departments of Agriculture and others in the
.practice and theory of Agriculture at sub-university
level. The Tutors will be required to co-operate
with the Principal in responsibility for practical
and theoretical tuition, farm 'management, super-
vision and extra-curricula activities.
Candidates should have a Degree or Diploma in
Agriculture, with, if possible, post-graduate training
and/or experience in tropical Agriculture, especially
in the case of tropical crops and/or experience in
agricultural education.
Appointments will initially be on contract at a
salary, according to qualifications, within the scale
$3,120 x $120-$3,840-$240-$5.280 per annum.
SArrangements will be made to maintain any exist-
ing pension rights or a gratuity will be paid in lieu
thereof. Self-contained quarters provided at 10%
of salary to a maximum of $50 a month, plus 5%
per annum of the value of furniture supplied.
Free passages for Tutor, his wife and maximum of
two children, on appointment and termination of
contract. Liberal leave on full salary.

following Motion Picture production
Apparatus :-
One 35 mm Simplex Acme sound projector
complete with speaker and Amplifier. For opera-
tion on 110-125 volt, 60 cycle-alternating current:
together with one generator (110 volts) and gasolene
motor (4 cylinder Ford 194-1 engine) for use where
there is no power supply.
This generator has an output capacity of nine
kilowatts, and is capable in itself, apart from
supplying the projector, of carrying a fairly large
extra load such as cinema or theatre lighting: In
fact it would supply all the amenities for a small
cinema or theatre.
The entire machine is of such size and so mounted
that it is mobile, i.e., it can be transported by truck.
The equipment which is stored at Belair Health
Centre has been very little used, and was recently
overhauled and is believed to be in perfect working
order. It may be viewed by arrangement.

Food: The average level of retail prices of those articles taken into account in the food group
was 4 points higher than at 31st December, 1952, anid 201% higher than at 1939, This increase was due
to increases in the retail prices of Sugar, Oil and Bluggoes, and a decrease in the retail price of Pens and
Beans.
Rent: There has been no change recorded in the general level of the working-class rents.
Fuel and Cleaning: There were increase in .the jo.eail prices cf Matches and Soap, This
-esulted in an increase cf 14 points on the figure for December, 1952, and an increase of 1C1% on the
figure for 939.
Clothing : Information collected from retailer indicates, that at 31st January, 1953, the average
olvel of retail prices of clothing of the kinds generally boughtt by the working-class families was
tlhe same as at 31st i.ecember, 19.i2, and 202% higher i'hn (it.1939.
All Others : There was ~r. increase in the, rI'a.- fpric of Cups and Saucers. This resulted' in-an
i e-ease of *4 points on the figure for 31st ecemnb 1952,in.nd 83% cnthe 1939 prices.
