NOTICE.


HIS Excellency the Acting Governor has been
informed that Her Majesty the Queen will
review Ex-Servicemen of Great Britain, the
Commonwealth and Empire on July 5th, 1953, in
Hyde Park, London. The British Empire Service
League are responsible for the overseas represen-
tatives. It has been suggested that the partici-
pation by Commonwealth Countries should be
about 2,000 men of which on a proportionate basis
ten would be from the Windward Islands.
2. Ex-servicemen from this Colony who will be
in the United Kingdom on the date specified and
desire to participate in the review are requested to
forward their names and addresses to the Govern-
ment Office not later than Tuesday, the 10th March,
1953.

Sin respect of the Town of St. George may be
seen at the Treasury, and in respect of the other

April next, and that attendance will be given at
such offices for the purpose of receiving the rates
mentioned in the Assessment Lists.

ACQUISITION ORDINANCE, 1945
(NO. 3 OF 1945).

In the Matter of a Declaration made by the
Governor in Council that a certain lot of
land situate at Snug Corner in the Parish
of Saint George in the island of Grenada
is to be acquired for a Public purpose.

DECLARATION OF ACQUISITION OF LAND.

(Second Publication).
W HEREAS it is enacted by section 3 of the
Land Acquisition Ordinance, 1945, that if
the Governor in Council considers that any land
should be acquired for a public purpose he may
cause a declaration tb that effect to be made :
AND WHEREAS it is considered by the Governor
in Council that the land mentioned and described
in the Schedule hereto should be acquired for use
as a Health Centre.
Now THEREFORE it is hereby declared by the
Governor in Council that the land described in the
Schedule hereto is hereby acquired for a public
purpose to wit for use as a Health Centre.
IT IS HEREBY FURTHER DECLARED that a plan
of the abovementioned lot of land drawn by
Lawrence Frank Benoit Esquire, Licensed:Surveyor,
may be inspected during working hours at the
Government Office in the town of Saint George in
the said Colony.

SCHEDULE.

All that lot of land situate at Snug Corner in
the Parish of Saint George fin the island of
Grenada containing by admeasurement 2,040
square feet and bounded on the West and on the
South by public roads cn the North by land of
Linton Williams and on the South by lands of the
Heirs of Jeremiah and lands of Rooena Mitchell.

NOTICE.

A.PPLICMTIONS are invited for the post of
Manager and programme Director, Windward
Islands Broadcasting Station, Grenada, on contract
for three years in the first instance.
Salary: The Salary of the post is 800 per
S annum. A transport allowance of 100 per
annum and a dost of living allowance of
100 per annum are also payable.
Duties: The station will be operated as a
sub-department of Government and tlie
officer will be responsible for its financial
and general management in accordance
with Colonial Regulations and the General
Orders and Financial Rules of the Windward
Islands. He will be required to supervise
programmes and will be expected to under-
take such duties in connection with broad-
casting as may be required of him by
Government.
Qualifications: Applicants should have broad-
casting experience particularly in script
writing and production of radio programmes.
Experience in commercial broadcasting will
be of assistance although not necessary.
Applicants should also have good administra-
tive experience and business ability. They
should also possess a sound knowledge of
conditions in the Caribbean Area and should
be familiar with current world events.
Technical knowledge of wireless trans-
mission. is not required. Knowledge of
copyright laws and the laws of libel and
slander is desirable, though not essential.
Quarters: Quarters are not provided.
Leave & Passages: The officer will be eligible
to earn leave at the rate of one week for
eaeh completed period of three months
iesileit service. Free first class passages
n re provide'. on appointment and on satis-
factory termination of contract for the
officer and his family between Grenada and
the place of recruitment. Leave passages
are not provided.
Further particulars are obtainable from the Chief
Secretary, Windward Islands, Grenada, to whom
applications, with three testimonials and a recent
photograph should be addressed to reach him not
later than 30th April 1953.


Award of Schoiarships to the
Metropolitan Vocational School,
Puerto Rico.

THE United States. Government, through its
Mutual Security Agency, has made funds
available for 45 scholarships for candidates from
the British Caribbean territories to be trained for
one year at the Metropolitan Vocational School in
Puerto Rico.

3. Although the present scholarships are for one
year only, the Caribbean Commission will request
that the United States Government provide funds
in 1954 to allow scholarship holders to complete
their courses.
4. Each scholarship will pay for the student's
tuition for one year ($400), and will enable him to
defray the cost of board and lodging and small
incidental expenses, for which purpose a sum of
$1,000 is paid to the students by the Metropolitan
Vocational School in twelve monthly instalments.
The Director of the Vocational School will make
arrangements for students to be accommodated in
suitable boarding houses near the School, The
grant of $1;000 is sufficient to meet the needs of a
thrifty student for one year. No assistance is
given by the Mutual Security Agency or the Carib-
bean Commission towards the cost of travel to or
from Puerto Rico.
1 5. Although the language normally used at the
School is Spanish, arrangements have been made
for Caribbean students to receive instruction in
English.
6. Applicants for these scholarships must have
the following qualifications :
(a) they must be over the age of 16;
(b) they must have at least two years of satis-
factory attendance at a recognized secondary
school:
(c) they should have had some [initial training
in the course for which they apply.
7. All applications must be addressed to the
Administrator, Government Office, St. George's,
from whom the necessary application forms may
be obtained and should reach the Government
Office not later than the 4th March, 1953.
8. Trainees may commence their courses in
August, 1953.

NOTICE.

Income Tax Ordinance.

Income Tax Rules.

NOTICE is hereby given that Income Tax
Returns are required to be forwarded to the
Commissioners of Income Tax not later than the
31st May, 1953, by every person whose income
from every source whatsoever was over $480.00,
and every Company engaged in trade or business,
during the year 1952,
2. The Income Tax Forms of Return must be
fully and correctly completed showing the deduc-
tions claimed and the necessary vouchers in
support, particularly Interest and Life Insurance
receipts are to be forwarded with the Returns.
3. Employers are also requested to submit, to
the Commissioners of Income Tax not later than
81st March, 1953, a list of employees whose
income were over $360.00 per annum during the
year 1952.
4. Any person who may not have received a
Form applicable to his or her particular case may
obtain such a form on application at the Income
Tax Office, St. George's, or any District Revenue
Office.
5. Attention is invited to Section 59 of the
Ordinance which lays down that failure to comply
with any Rule made under the Ordinance.
