the Qceen has been pleased to approve the appoint-
ment of Mr. EDWARD BETHAM BEETHAM, C.M.G.,
C. V. O., O. B. E., Resident Commissioner Bechu-
analand Protectorate, to be Governor and Com-
mander-in-Chief, Windward Islands in succession
to Sir ROBERT ARUNDELL. K.C,M.G., O.B.E.,
whose appointment as Governor and Commander-
in-Chief, Barbados, was announced on 16tb October

I for the Colonies has notified the Governor
that the Queen will not be advised to exercise Her
Majesty's power of disallowance with respect to the
following Ordinance of the Grenada Legislature:-
No. 17 of 1952.-An Ordinance relating to
Agricultural Small Tenancies and for pur-
poses connected therewith.

Trade Liberalisation Plan-Canada
& U. S. A.

IT is hereby notified for general information that
all West Indian Governments have agreed to
the continuance of this Plan in 1953 on the present
basis, and both Canada and U. S. A. Governments
have now accepted the proposals that they should
be extended accordingly.

As formerly, goods imported from Canada under
the Plan must be first authorised by Scrip issued
by the Canadian Department of External Trade
and Conmmerce, when licences will be granted
locally.

Vacant Office of Chief Clerk, Registrar's
Office and Court Stenographer.

SPPLICATIONS are invited from candidates
within or without the Public Service for the
post of Chief Clerk, Registrar's Office and Court
Stenographer (Class I) with salary at the rate of
$1,248 x $96-$1,728 per annum with a Cost of
Living Allowance of 20%.
Candidates must possess the Cambridge School
Certificate or a higher educational qualification and
be capable of writing shorthand at a speed of not
less than 140 words per minute and be able to type.
Special consideration will be given to candidates
having previous experience of Court procedure.
Applications should be addressed to the Admin-
istrator to arrive before Saturday, 24th January,
1953, marked "For attention of the Secretary,
Public Service Commission."

TREASURY.


Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic
Ordinance.

T HE attention of the public is again drawn to
Regulation 12 of Part III of the Regulations
made by the Governor in Council under Section 87
of the Motor Vehicles arnd Road Traffic Ordinance
(S.R. & 0. No, 35/1938) which reads as follows:-
12. Licences-fixing of. The licence
shall be placed in a metal disc which shall be
affixed to the windscreen or other prominent
part of the car approved by the Licensing
Authority".
For the purpose of this regulation the windscreen
is the part of the vehicle approved by the Licensing
Authority and the disc should be placed in the
lower corner of that part of the windscreen furthest
from the driver. In the absence of the metal disc
and adhesive may be used.

Receipts, Nos. 929/933, will be accepted by
Government as evidence of payment.

NOTICE is hereby give that Assessment Lists
in respect of the Town of St. George may be
seen at the Treasury, and in respect of the other
Towns at the respective District Revenue Offices,
from the 1st day of February, to the 30th day of
April next, and that attendance will be given at
such offices for the purpose of receiving the rates
mentioned in the Assessment Lists.
