Traffic Regulations 1938.

half-yearly inspection of these vehicles will com-

Owners of such vehicles are advised to pay
inspection fees from now onwards at their respec-
tive District Revenue Offices and then approach
the Inspector of Motor Vehicles at the Traffic
Branch, Police Headquarters, in advance with a
view to effecting any alterations that may be
ne essary to comply with the provisions of the
Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Ordinance, i93P,
and of the R, gulations made thereunder.
Vehicles must be presented in a thoroughly clean
condition, and must have been recently over-
hauled. The body and wings, axle, chassis, frame,
steering arms, springs, trackrods. brake connec-
ti3ns. shackles, bolts nuts, split pins engine, engine
shield and case, clutch, gearbox, magneto or coil
air filter, carburettor, and all working parts must
Ie cleine' in order to admit of proper examination.
Dust covers if used must be removed before before
presentation in order to admit of an examination
being made in full. All split pins etc. must be
clearly exposed also chassis and engine numbers.
Drivers' seats must be securely fastened so that the
driver can have proper control over the vehicle
Spot lights, musical horns and whistles are strictly
prohibited. Each vehicle must have its tare and
maximum gross weight painted in white figures
not less than 22 inches in height upon a black
ground in ;L conspicuous place on the right or
offside of-the vehicle.
The Registered Identification marks on all
vehicles must conform t o provisions of Regulations
7, 8 and 9 and the Second Schedule to the Regu-
lations No. 35 of 1938 and be in such a condition
as to render each letter or figure readily distin-
guishable. The attention of owners of Motor
Omnibuses and Goods Vehicles is specially directed
to Regulation 23 (11) a; regarding the position of
front lamps. i'pot lights will not Le allowed
except with the written approval of the Licensing
Authority.
The attention of the owners of Hiring care and
Motor Omnibuses is directed to the Motor
Vehicles and Road Traffic (Amendmentl Regula-
tions No. 6 of 1914 as amended by the Motor
Vehicles and Road Traffic (Amendment No. 2)
Regulations No. 70 of 1946 which require that
printed copies of the Tariffs of Maximum Fares be
displayed in such Veh:rles. These are now avail-
able and may be purchas-oi at the Treasury t.
George's and at any District Rvenme Office at
4 cents per copy.


Vehicles which have been found by the Inspector
to have defects must not be used on the roads
until they have been issued with a Certificate
certifying that the vehicles may be duly licensed.

Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic
Ordinance.

rTHE attention of the public is again drawn to
Regulation 12 of Part III of the Regulations
made by the Governor in Council under. Section 78
of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Ordinance
(S.R. & 0. No. 35/1938) which reads as follows;-
12. Licences-fixing of. The licence
shall be placed in a metal disc which shall be
affixed to the windscreen or other prominent
part of the car approved by the Licensing
Authority".
For the purpose of this regulation the windscreen
is the ptrt ot the vehicle approved by the Licensing
Authority and the disc should be placed in the
lower co'-er of that part of the windscreen furthest
from the 'river. In the absence of the metal d.sc
and adilt sive may be used.
