11. To be eligible for consideration for enlistment in the British Army, soldiers must be:-
(a) aged between 17Y2 and 25 years;
(b) unmarried;
(c) of the requisite physical standard; and
(d) fluent, if required, in both spoken and written English.

DEPUTY GOVERNOR-GENERAL

His Honour John S. Mordecai, Kt., C.M.G., Deputy Governor-General of The
West Indies, will leave Trinidad on 15th April for Jamaica on official duty as Chair-
man of the Regional Labour Board. His Honour will thereafter proceed on leave to
Canada and the United Kingdom, at the end of which leave he will relinquish his
present post.

Consequent upon the departure from Trinidad of His Honour John S. Mordecai,
Kt., C.M.G., Deputy Governor-General of The West Indies, Her Majesty has been
pleased to designate by instructions given through the Secretary of State for the
Colonies pursuant to article 4 (1) (b) of the Constitution of The West Indies, Mr. H. L.
DaCosta, C.M.G., Q.C., as the person to assume and perform the functions of the
office of Governor-General, with effect from 15th April, 1962.

ACTING ATTORNEY GENERAL

Consequent on the appointment of Mr. H. L. DaCosta, C.M.G., Q.C., Federal
Attorney General, to assume and perform the functions of the office of Governor-
General, Mr. S. S. Ramphal, Assistant Attorney General, has been appointed to act
as Federal Attorney General, with effect from 15th April, 1962.

AN ACT to appropriate an additional sum from the Consoli-
dated Fund of the Federation for the services for the
year ending on the thirty-first day of December, one
thousand, nine hundred and sixty-one.

Be it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent
Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate
and the House of Representatives of The West Indies and
by the authority of the same, as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as the Supplementary short title.
Appropriation (1961 No. 3) Act, 1962.

2. The Accountant General may withdraw -fiom the$424,107
Consolidated Fund of the Federation on the warrant of thepraed
Minister of Finance.and apply towards the services of theoutof the
Consoli-

hundred and twenty four thousand, one hundred and seven
dollars which sum is appropriated and shall be deemed to
have been appropriated as from the first day of January one

AN ACT to provide for the payment of pensions to persons
who have held the office of Prime Minister of the
Federation.
Be it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent
Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate
and the House of Representatives of The West Indies, and by
the authority of the same, as follows:
Short 1. This Act may be cited as the Pensions (Prime
title. Minister) Act, 1962.

Payment 2. (1) A person who has, whether before or after the
o pesion commencement of this Act, held the office of Prime Minister
who has of the Federation for a continuous period of not less than two
Abi~nser years or for periods amounting in the aggregate to not less
than two years and who has ceased to be a member of the
House of Representatives of the Federation shall be paid a
pension of nine thousand six hundred dollars a year:








The Pensions (Prime Minister) Act, 1962 7

Provided that no pension shall be payable under
this Act to any person so long as he is a member of a chamber
of the Federal Legislature.

(2) Any pension payable under this Act shall be
charged on the Consolidated Fund of the Federation.
