CORRECTION

WITH reference to Gazette Notice No. 11 published in Vol. 5 No. 4 dated Friday,
9th February 1962, the date of resumption of duty of Mr. F. A. Phillips, Secretary
to the Cabinet, was 1st February 1962 (and not 1st January 1962 as stated in the
notice).

The Governor-General has accepted the resignation of Mr. L. N. Blache-Fraser,
C.M.G., as Chairman of the Federal Public Service Commission, to take effect from
the 14th April 1962.

Consequent on the resignation of Mr. L. N. Blache-Fraser, C.M.G., as Chairman
of the Federal Public Service Commission, His Excellency the Governor-General
has, pursuant to Article 102 of the Federal Constitution, been pleased to appoint
Dr. J. R. Groome, J.P., to be Chairman of the Commission in an acting capacity
from the 12th March to the 14th April, and on a substantive basis from the 15th
April 1962 onwards.

THE DEFENCE (RATES OF PAY AND ALLOWANCES)
(AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1962.

ARRANGEMENT OF REGULATIONS.

Regulation
1. Citation and commencement.
2. Table I to principal Regulations amended.
3. Table III to principal Regulations amended.




His Excellency the Governor-General in exercise of the powers
Cap. 101. conferred on him by section 221 of the Defence Act, 1958, and of all
other powers him thereunto enabling, hereby makes the following
regulations:-

Citation 1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Defence (Rates of
and Pay and Allowances) (Amendment) Regulations, 1962, and shall be read
commence- as one with the Defence (Rates of Pay and Allowances) Regulations,
ment. 1958, contained in the Fourth Schedule to the Defence Act, 1958, and
hereinafter referred to as the principal Regulations.

(2) These Regulations shall be deemed to have come into opera-
tion on the 1st day of October, 1960, immediately after the commence-
ment of the Defence (Rates of Pay and Allowances) (Amendment)
Regulations, 1960.

Table Ito 2. (1) Table I to the principal Regulations shall have effect as if
principal it provided that an officer (other than an officer of the Quartermaster
Regulations category) whose substantive rank is that of Major shall be paid at the
amended. rate of $14.48 a day after six years service in that rank.

(2) Nothing in this regulation shall affect the rate of pay provided
in the said Table for an officer of that rank after eight years service as
such.

Table III to 3. Table III to the principal Regulations shall have effect as if
principal the rate of pay provided for a soldier of the rank of Private were-

amended. (a) where he is a Class A II or B I tradesman, $3.80 a day;

(b) where he is not a tradesman, $3.32 a day after eighteen
months service with three military qualifications.

His Excellency the Governor-General in exercise of the powers
Cap. 511. conferred on him by section 4 of the Civil Establishment Act, 1958, and
of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the
following Order,:-- .

This Order may be cited as the Civil Establishment Order,


2. The Civil Establishment (General) Order, 1958, as amended,
is hereby further amended in the manner set out in the Schedule to
this Order.








The Civil Establishment Order, 1962


SCHEDULE article 2

The Schedule to the Civil Establishment (General) Order, 1958,
is hereby amended by inserting, as from 1st September, 1961, at the
end of the "Defence Section", appearing under the heading "Governor-
General", the following:-
