Made by His Excellency the Governor-General under section 4
of the Civil Establishment. Act, 1958.

ARRANGEMENT OF ARTICLES
Article
1. Citation.
2. Replacement of Schedule to the Civil Establishment (General)
Order, 1958.
3. Commencement.
SCHEDULE.

His Excellency the Governor-General in exercise of the
powers conferred on him by section 4 of the Civil Establishment Act,
1958, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes
the following Order:-

1. This Order may be cited as the Civil Establishment (No. 3)
Citation. Order, 1960.

Replace- 2. The Civil Establishment (General) Order, 1958, shall have
ment of effect as if the Schedule to this Order were substituted for the Schedule
Schedule. thereto.

3. This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of
January, 1961.

Made by the Governor-General this 25th day of November,
1960.

(AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1960.

Made by the Governor-General under section 221 of the
Defence Act, 1958.

ARRANGEMENT OF REGULATIONS

Regulation

1. Citation and commencement.

2. Amendment of regulation 4 and 5 of principal Regulations.

3. Substitution of new Tables for Tables I, II, III, and IV to principal
Regulations.

His Excellency the 4Governor-General, in exercise of the
powers conferred upon him by section 221 of the Defence Act, 1958,
and of all other powers thereunto him enabling in that behalf, hereby
makes the following Regulations:-

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Defence (Rates of Citation
Pay and Allowances) (Amendment) Regulations, 1960, and shall beand
read as one with the Defence (Rates of Pay and Allowances) mment."
Regulations, 1958, contained in the Fourth Schedule to the Defence
Act, 1958, and hereinafter referred to as the principal Regulations. cap 101.
(2) These Regulations shall be deemed to have come into
operation on the 1st day of October, 1960.

2. Regulations 4 and 5 of the principal Regulations are hereby Amend-
amended by inserting immediately after the words "family allowance"ment of
regulations
appearing therein the words "and unaccommodated rent allowance." 4 and 5 of

CONDITIONS OF PAYMENT OF ALLOWANCES

(i) No officer shall be entitled to a family allowance unless -
(a) he is maintaining his wife or dependent children; or
(b) he is a widower, or is divorced, and has the custody of
any of his dependent children; and
(c) he makes provision to the satisfaction of the Commander
for the maintenance of his wife and/or children at least
to the extent qf the rate of family allowance appropriate
to his case.

(ii) No officer shall be entitled to a rent allowance unless -
(a) he is maintaining his wife or any of his dependent
children; and

(b) he is not accommodated in quarters provided by the
Crown.

(iii) An officer in receipt of an allowance shall be responsible for
notifying his commanding officer immediately of any change
in the circumstances of his family which affects his entitlement
to such allowance.

D-Increments:

(a) For length of service as a soldier after attaining the age
of 18 years. A soldier shall receive an increment to his
basic rate of 120 a day on completion of five years' reckon-
able service and a further 120 a day on completion of ten
years' reckonable service.

(b) For length of service as a warrant or non-commissioned
officer. In addition to any increments admissible under
paragraph (a) a warrant or non-commissioned officer shall
receive increments to his basic rates as follows:-

(c) For length of service as Class I tradesman. In addition to
any increments admissible under paragraph (a) above,
lance-corporals and soldiers shall receive an increment of
12 a day after each four years as a Class I tradesman,
subject to a maximum of 360.

CONDITIONS OF PAYMENT OF ALLOIFANCES

(i) No soldier shall be entitled to a family allowance unless he has
reached the age of twenty-one years and-

(a) is maintaining his wife or dependent children; or

(b) is a widower, or is divorced, and has the custody of any
of his children:

Provided that if a soldier on enlisting in the regiment was in
receipt of a rate of family allowance in Her Majesty's military forces,
he shall be entitled to that rate, under these Regulations, notwith-
standing, the fact that he would not be entitled to it under this condition.
(ii) Family allowance shall be payable on the condition that it is
expended currently on the maintenance of the soldier's wife
and/or dependent children and the soldier makes an allotment
from his pay at the rate prescribed by Table V to these
Regulations to be deducted from his pay.

(iii) No soldier shall be entitled to unaccommodated rent allowance
unless-

(a) he is maintaining his wife or dependent children; and

(b) he is not accommodated in quarters provided by the
Crown.

(iv) A soldier in receipt of an allowance shall be responsible for
notifying his commanding officer immediately of any change
in the circumstances of his family which affects his entitle-
ment to such allowance.
