And whereas, I, Patrick George Thomas, Lord Hailes, Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief of The West Indies, having occasion to be
(a) absent from the seat of the Federal Government, but not from the Federation, during the course of a visit to Jamaica, and
(b) for the purpose of that visit, absent from the Federation for periods that will be of short duration : appointed, by Instrument given under the Public Seal of The West Indies on the 15th day of July, 1960, John Stanley Mordecai, c.m.g., to be my Deputy during such absences :
And whereas the said John Stanley Mordecai, c.m.g., had occasion to be absent from the seat of the Federal Government and in consequence therefore I revoked his said appointment as my Deputy, and, by Instrument under the Public Seal of The West Indies given on the third day of August, 1960, I appointed Harvey Lloyd da Costa, q.c, to be my Deputy during the remainder of the periods of my absence :
And whereas the said John Stanley Mordecai, c.m.g., has returned to the seat of the Federal Government and I have revoked the appointment of the said Harvey Lloyd da Costa, q.c. :
And whereas the periods of my absence as aforesaid have not yet terminated :
Now therefore, I the said Patrick George Thomas, Lord Hailes, in pursuance of the powers conferred upon me in that behalf by the said article and of all other powers me thereunto enabling, do appoint you the said John Stanley Mordecai, c.m.g., to be my Deputy during the remaining periods of such absences and in that capacity to perform on my behalf all the functions of the office of Governor-General vested in me, subject, however, to such instructions as I may from time to time address to you.
Given under my Hand and the Public Seal of The West Indies this seventh day of August, 1960, in the Ninth Year of Her Majesty's reign.
By His Excellency's Command
O. E. HENRY Acting Secretary to the Governor-General
