DIRECTION FOR USE OF PUBLIC SEAL
THE CONSTITUTION OF THE WEST INDIES, ARTICLE 111
WHEREAS a seal has been prepared for the Federation by order of Her Majesty The Queen and its use has been
authorised by Royal Warrant dated the 20th day of July, 1959:
And whereas it is expedient that the said seal be used in place of the stamp which, by virtue of the
provisions of article 111 of the Constitution, the Governor-General approved for use as the public seal of the
Federation until such time as a public seal will have been provided for the Federation and the Governor-General
shall have directed that that seal be used:
Now therefore I, PATRICK GEORGE THOMAS, LORD HAILES, Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief of
The West Indies, do hereby direct that the said seal prepared for the Federation and authorised for use by
Royal Warrant as herein above recited shall be used from the first day of January, 1960, as the public seal of
the Federation.
