THE DEFENCE (OFFICERS) (AMENDMENT)
REGULATIONS, 1959.

Made by the Deputy to the Governor-General under section 221 of the
Defence Act, 1958.

ARRANGEMENT OF REGULATIONS.
1. Citation
2. Amendment of Principal Regulations.


His Honour the Deputy to the Governor-General, in exercise
of the powers conferred upon him by section 221 of the Defence Act,
1958 and of all other powers him thereunto enabling in that behalf
makes the following regulations.

Citation 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Defence (Officers)
(Amendment) Regulations, 1959, and shall be read as one with the
Defence (Officers) Regulations, 1958, hereinafter called the Principal
Regulations.

Amend- 2. The Principal Regulations are hereby amended by adding
ment at the end thereof the following regulation as regulation 8:-

ulations. "Honorary 8. (1) A person may be appointed to a com-
rank. mission in an honorary rank under such
conditions as may be specified in the appointment.

(2) A person appointed to a commission in
an honorary rank shall not, by virtue of such
appointment, be entitled to any pay, allowance,
retired pay, pension, gratuity or other like
benefit."

OBJECTS .AND REASONS

The object of this Bill is to incorporate the Federal
Public Service Association of The West Indies, which is an
Association of officers of the federal public service, and to
exempt the Association from the application of territorial
laws relating to trade unions.

A Bill intituled

An Act for the incorporation of the Federal Public
Service Association of The West Indies and for the exemp-
tion of the Association from certain Territorial laws.

Be it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent
Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate
and the House of Representatives of The West Indies, and
by the authority of the same, as follows:-

Short title. 1. This Act may be cited as the Federal Public
Service Association of The West Indies Act, 1959.

Interpre- 2. In this Act unless the context otherwise requires-

being associated under the name of the Federal

discretion or subject to the decision, control or management
of the Incorporated Association, the determination of a
majority of the members thereof, in the event that unanimity
cannot be obtained, shall be deemed and taken to be the
determination of the Incorporated Association.

6. (1) All property of whatever kind which is at thevlst to
commencement of this Act the property of the Associationincor-
or is held in trust for the purposes of the Association or isorateion
held or possessed on behalf of the Association by any member
thereof is hereby transferred to and vested in the
Incorporated Association.

(2) All property of whatever kind bequeathed by
will or otherwise given to the Association shall be held by,
and is hereby vested in, and shall be deemed to be the
property of the Incorporated Association.

7. Subject to the Rules of the Association, the P"er to

purchase, transfer, assignment, donation, exchange, demise,
gift, devise, bequest, grant, conveyance, surrender or other-
wise, any real or personal property or any estate or interest
therein and to take, hold and enjoy the same, subject to the
performance of any trust upon which the said real or personal
property may have been acquired.

let, charge, improve, manage, develop, exchange, lease,
mortgage, sell, convey, assign, dispose of, turn to account,
or otherwise deal with all or any of the property of the
Incorporated Association or any part thereof.
Power to 9. Subject to the Rules of the Association, the

the President or Secretary of the Association or by post or
