STATUTORY INSTRUMENT No. 10 of 1959.

THE TRAVEL (EXEMPTION FROM FORMALITIES) (FORM
OF IDENTIFICATION) REGULATIONS, 1959.


Made by His Excellency the Governor-General under section
3(1) of the Travel (Exemption from Formalities) Act, 1958.


ARRANGEMENT OF REGULATIONS

1. Short title.
2. Form of identification.
3. Expiration of endorsement.
4. Signature on endorsement.


His Excellency the Governor-General in. exercise of the powers
conferred on him by section 3(1) of the Travel (Exemption from
Formalities) Act, 1958, and all other powers enabling him in that behalf,
hereby makes the following Regulations:-
Short title. 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Travel (Exemption
from Formalities) (Form of Identification) Regulations, 1959.

Form of 2. The form of identification for persons entitled to any exemp-
identifica- tion under the Travel (Exemption from Formalities) Act, 1958, shall
tion. be as set out in the Schedule to these Regulations and shall be endorsed
on the passport of the person entitled to the exemption.

Expiration 3. The date of expiration of the endorsement to be inserted on

(a.) in the case of a member of the Senate, the date on which
he is required to vacate his seat in the Senate by article
12(1) of the Constitution;
(b) in the case of a member of the House of Representatives,
the date on which the Governor-General is required to
dissolve the House of Representatives by article 38(2)
of the Constitution; and
(c) in the case of a public officer, the expiration of five years
from the date of the endorsement or, where the officer
is serving under a contract of service for a specified
period ending within the period of five years aforesaid,
the date of termination of his contract of service.

4. The endorsement aforesaid shall be signed, in the case of Signature
members of the Senate and members of the House of Representatives, On endorse-
