APPOINTMENT TO THE FEDERAL PUBLIC SERVICE
THE FEDERAL SECRETARY, acting under the powers conferred on him by the Appointments in the Public Service
(Delegation) Regulations, 1958, has after consultation with the temporary Federal Public Service Commission,
appointed Mr. WELLINGTON FRIDAY as an Administrative Assistant, on secondment from the service of the
Government of Dominica, with effect from the 13th December, 1958.

ASSENT TO BILLS
IT is hereby notified that on the 17th December, 1958, His Excellency the Governor-General assented to the
Bills passed by the Senate and the House of Representatives for the following Acts :-
The Supplementary Appropriation (No. 2) Act, 1958.
The Travel (Exemption from Formalities) Act, 1958.

APPOINTMENT OF COMMANDER, WEST INDIA REGIMENT
His EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL has, after consultation with the Prime Minister, appointed with effect
from the 1st January, 1959-
(a) Brigadier KENNETH HAYTER COLLEN, C.B.E., Commander Caribbean Area to be Commander of
all units of the West India Regiment, and
(b) Lt.-Col. BASIL LESLIE GUNNELL, O.B.E., M.C., to act as the Commander of all units of The West
India Regiment during any period when Brigadier Collen is absent from his permanent duty station
on leave or on duty.

IT is hereby notified that pursuant to the provisions of section 7 of the Defence Act, 1958, His Excellency the
Governor-General has been pleased to appoint the undermentioned to be members of the Commissions Board :-
THE COMMANDER, Caribbean Area;
THE FEDERAL DEFENCE OFFICER;
THE COMMANDING OFFICER, The Jamaica Regiment.

IT is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor-General on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen has approved
the.appointment of each of the gentlemen mentioned hereunder to a Commission in the West India Regiment in
the rank specified opposite thereto with effect from the 1st January; 1959, and it is further notified that
His Excellency has signified that the said officers shall stand in order of command and precedence in accordance
with the table of service set out hereunder below each officer's name :-
