FLYING OF FEDERAL FLAG
THE Council of State has considered the occasions and manner in which the Federal Flag should be flown and
has agreed on the following procedures which are published for general information.
2. The Federal Flag may appropriately be flown on all Government buildings throughout the Federation
on the following Commemorative and Federal Days:-
(a) Commemorative Days

3. The Council has also agreed that
in the unit territory concerned.


it will be appropriate to fly the Federal Flag on all public holidays


4. As regards the procedure for flying the Federal Flag, the following has been approved by the Council:

(i) Buildings with one flagstaff
(a) The Federal Flag should be flown on the Federal Days listed at paragraph 2 (b) above.
(b) The Union Flag should be flown on all other days i.e., on the Commemorative Days listed at
paragraph 2 (a) above, and on normal days when it is desired to fly a flag.

(ii) Buildings with two flagstaffs
Both the Federal Flag and the Union Flag should be flown on Commemorative Days, Federal Days,
and other normal days on which it is desired to fly flags.
5. The Council has agreed that when both flags are flown the Union Flag should not be smaller, nor be
in a position of less importance than the Federal Flag; and that the Union Flag should be on the left hand
side when facing the building.

THE Federal Secretary, acting under the powers conferred on him by the Appointments in the Public Service
(Delegation) Regulations, 1958, has, after consultation with the temporary Public Service Commission,
