FEDERAL SUPREME COURT

Council, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Excellent
Order of the British Empire, Governor-General and
Commander-in-Chief of The West. Indies, &c., &c., &c.


To: CLYDE VERNON HARCOURT ARCHER
WHEREAS by paragraph (1) of article 77 of the Constitution of the The West Indies provision is made for the
appointment, in the event of the office of any Federal Justice being vacant, of a person qualified for appoint-
ment as a Federal Justice to be temporarily a judge of the Federal Supreme Court:

And whereas an office of Federal Justice is vacant:

Now therefore, I the said PATRICK GEORGE THOMAS, LORD HAILES, in pursuance of the power conferred
on me by the said article and of all other powers me thereunto enabling, do appoint you the said
CLYDE VERNON HARCOURT ARCHER as from the first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-eight
to be temporarily a judge of the Federal Supreme Court to hold office, and to have and exercise all the functions
and authority appertaining to that office in accordance with the provision of the Constitution of
The West Indies.

Given under my Hand and the Public Seal of The
West Indies this 1st day of April, 1958, in the
Seventh Year of Her Majesty's reign.

APPOINTMENT OF DEPUTY REGISTRARS OF THE FEDERAL SUPREME COURT

PURSUANT to Regulation 4 (2) of The Federal Supreme Court Regulations, 1958, and with the consent of
His Excellency the Governor of the Leeward Islands, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased
to appoint the holders of the following offices in the Supreme Court of the Windward Islands and Leeward
Islands to be Deputy Registrars of the Federal Supreme Court:
The Registrar of the Antigua Circuit;
The Registrar of the Montserrat Circuit.

to appoint the hoJder of the following office in the Supreme Court of the Windward Islands and Leeward
Islands to be Deputy Registrar of the Federal Supreme Court:
The Registrar of the St. Vincent Circuit.

CORRECTION TO NOTICE NO. 32-LETTERS PATENT

NOTICE is hereby given of a typographical error in Gazette Notice No. 32 published on 28th March, 1958,
whereby the Letters Patent therein notified purported to relate to the appointment of MR. ALFRED BAILLIE
BENNIE as a Federal Justice instead of ALFRED BAILLIE RENNIE, the latter being the correct name.

INTERIM SHIPPING COMMISSIONER

MR. R. C. DUFF-URQUHART, Interim Shipping Commissioner, has been granted leave of absence from Trinidad
from 2nd April. During MR. URQUHART'S absence or until other arrangements are made, MR. E. A. MAYNIER,
Permanent Secretary in The Department of Trade and Industry has been appointed to act as Interim
Shipping Commissioner.
