Appointment of a Board of Inquiry \
under section 8.
His Excellency Sir ALEXANDER THOMAS WILLIAMS, a Knight
Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint
Michael and Saint George, a Member of the Most Excel-
lent Order of the British Empire, Governor and
Commander in Chief in and over the Leeward Islands and
Vice Admiral of the same.
The Honourable Mr. Justice JOHN RAMSAY BLAGDEN,
RICHARD COTTRELL, Esquire.
GORDON DA BREO, Esquire
WHEREAS a trade dispute exists between the waterfront workers
of St. John's, Antigua, and their employers:
AND WHEREAS I think it fit that the matter be referred to
a Board of Inquiry:
NOW THEREFORE, by virtue and in exercise of the powers
conferred upon me by section 8 of the Trades Disputes (Arbitration and
Inquiry) Act, 1939, I do hereby appoint you the said JOHN RAMSAY
BLAGDEN, RICHARD COTTRELL and GORDON DA BREO to be a Board
of Inquiry with all the powers by the said Act conferred, and I do hereby
authorise and require you in the manner in the said Act provided to
inquire into the dispute at present existing between the waterfront
workers of St. John's, Antigua, and their employers and, having regard
to the economy of the Island as a whole, to make recommendations.
AND I HEREBY direct that you the said JOHN RAMSAY BLAGDEN
shall be Chairman of the said Board of Inquiry.
AND I DO HEREBY COMMAND all persons whom it may
concern to take due notice hereof and give their obedience accordingly.
GIVEN under my hand at Government House, Antigua, the
1st day of July, 1958.
