Owing to the long period of drought
and the severe strain placed on the
domestic water supplies, the Govern-
ment of Antigua has decided to take
whatever peciail measures are possible
to bring relief to the situation.
Towards this end the Government
have already taken urgent steps to
import by air freight a number of
electric submersible pumps to link up
new wells to the central system. This,
the Government is advised, will bring
immediate relief to domestic consu-
mers.
In addition, the Government have
secured the temporary services of Mr.
MARTIN-KAYE, !in eminent geologist
with detailed experience of Antigua's
water resources who will advise the
Government in collaboration with the
Public Works Department. Mr.
MARTIN-KAYE is expected this week-
end.


The Government is determined to
take all necessary steps to meet the
situation and the public are asked to
co-operate by conforming to all notices
issued from time to time for the con-
servation of water.
The Minister for Public Works and
Communications, the Hon. E. E.
WILLIAMS, has set up a special Com-
mittee under his chairmanship which
will meet daily to review the situation
an d co-ordinate any necessary
measures. Mr. A. E. L. WILLIAMS,

Ministry, will be Secretary of t h e
Committee and the members will

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN
that COSDEN OIL & CHEMICAL
COMPANY of Big Spring, Texas,
U.S.A. have applied for registration
in Antigua of United Kingdom
Patent No. 933340 dated the 28th day
of June, 1960, and issued on the 21st
day of February 1964, and have filed

Government will supply the necessary
drill, serge, duck, a 1 so badges a n d
official buttons for tunics. All other
materials a r e to be supplied by t h e
contractor. Prices are to include the
cost of affixing badges to tunics or
jumpers.

2. Tenders must be signed and
should be in sealed envelopes
addressed to the Secretary to the
Administrator and marked
"TENDERS FOR UNIFORMS ".
Tenders should reach this office by
noon on Saturday, 19th December,
1964.

3. Government does not bind itself
to accept the lowest or any tender.

4. If the delivery of uniforms is
delayed for a period exceeding four
weeks after the date of receipt of the
material or uniforms are unsatisfac-
torily tailored, Government reserves
the right to cancel the contract on
giving one week's notice in writing.

vestigating the demand for mortgage
finance for building houses in Anti-
gua.

2. Whilst this survey cannot com-
mit Government in anyway to
provide the finance; it is considered
that it will be very useful in attract-
ing finance to the island for this

In pursuance of the provisions of
of regulation 2 of the Foot and
Mouth Disease Regulations, 1954
(S. R. & 0. 1954 No. 11) made by the
Administrator in Council under sec-
tions 12 and 14 of the Animals
(Diseases and Importation Ordinance,
1953, this Notice is hereby given this
25th day of November, 1964.

1. This Notice may be cited as
the Foot and Mouth Disease (Guade-
loupe) Notice, 1964.

2. The Presidency of Guadeloupe
in the French West Indies is hereby
notified to be a country in which
there is an outbreak of Foot and
Mouth disease and the said Presi-
dency is hereby declared to be a
prohibited country for the purposes
of the Foot and Mouth Disease Regu-
lations, 1654.
