No. 13 of 1957.
75. Any person engaged in any
business by way of trade carrying a
stock in trade in excess of five hun-
dred dollars or in any profession shall
keep in the English language proper
books of account sufficient to record
all transactions necessary in order to
ascertain the gains and profits made
or the loss incurred in each such trade,
business or profession. and any such
person who fails to co nply with the
provisions of this section shall be
guilty of an offence a;s inst this Ordi-
nance, and in addition to any penalty
incurred he shall be liable to payany
tax to which he may be assessed un-
der the provisions of his Ordinance.

Antigua are advised that this Depart-
ment's secondary mains operate at
400 volts 3 phase/230 volts single
phase 6 cycles per second except for
Coolidge Air Field, Hodges Bay,
Cedar Grove and Parham areas.
2. From 1st April, 1964, appara-
tus and appliances, together with any
associated transformers, for any other
voltage or frequency should not be
installed without the prior inspection
and approval of an officer of this
Department, who may call for addi-
tional corrective devices.
3. Furthermore, this Department
will not accept responsibility for
damage to non-standard equipment
due to voltage variations, which are
largely caused by the use of such
equipment.

DECLARATION dated 3rd march,
1964 made under section 3 of the
Land Acquisition Ordinance, 1957
(No. 4 of 1957) for the acquisition of
Land in the colony of the Virgin
Islands for a public purpose.


IT IS HERFBY DECLARED that
the Administrator in Council with
the approval of the Legislative Coun-
cil of the colony of the Virgin Islands
considers that a portion of land sit-
uate at Fat Hog's Bay in the Island
of Tortola ana more particually
described in the Schedule hereto,
should be acquired for a public pur-
pose namely, for the establishment of
a Public Burial Ground and for
building sites.

A plan of the said land may be
inspected at the Administrator's
Office, Road Town, between the hours
of 10.00 a.m. and 12 noon on any day
except Sundays or public holidays.

2.48 acres situate at Fat Hog's Bay in
the Island of Tortola and bounded as

STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS.
1964, No. 7.

The Stamps (Shakespeare) (Commemoration) Order, 1964,
dated 19th March 1964, made by the Administrator in
Council under sections 4 and 5 of the Stamp Act (Cap.
186).


[ Gaetted 9th April, 1964.]

1. Short Title This Order may be cited as the
Stamps (Shakespeare) (Commemoration) Order, 1964.
2. Interpretation. In this Order the expression
stamps means adhesive stamps for postage and revenue.
3. Special stamp. There shall be issued in the
Colony and used during the period from the 23rd day of April,
1964, to the 22nd day of July, 1964, or until stocks are exhaus-
ted, whichever date is the earlier, to commemorate the fourth
centenary of the birth of Shakespeare, a special stamp of the
value of 12 cents in the design specified in the Schedule hereto.
4. Dies and residues. The several dies and other
implements required to give effect thereto shall be provided, and
the same shall be destroyed, together with all residues whatso-
ever of stocks of the stamps hereby authorised, as soon as
practicable after the 22nd day of July, 1964.

advice of the Executive Council this 19th day of March, 1964.

1. Short title. These Regulations may be cited as
the Betting and Gaining (General Control of Gaming Premises)
(Amendment) Regulations, 1964, and shall be read as one with
the Betting and Gaming (General Control of Gaming Premises)
Reg-llations, 1963, (S. R. 0. 35/1963, 38/1963) and all
amendments cthreto, hereinafter called the principal Regulations.
2. Amendment of Regulation 17 of the
principal Regulations. Paragraph (8) of Regulation 17
of the principal Regilations is amended by deleting the words
"or consumed" in the first line so that that paragraph shall
read as follows:
"(8) No alcoholic beverages shall be served in a
g lming room in licensed premises."

SEASON FOR COTTON.
BY THE ADMINISTRATOR.

WHEREAS under 3 of the Cotton Protection Ordinance,
1922 (No. 7 of 1922) as amended by the Cotton Protection
Amendment Ordinance, 1926 (No. 5 of 1926), it is provided
that the Anministrator in Council may from time to time by
Proclamation published in the Gazette declare any period of each
year to be a close season for cotton and for such other plants as
may be specified in any such Proclamation either for the whole
Colony or for such area or areas thereof as may be specified in
such Proclamation.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DAVID JAMES GARDINER ROSE,
a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire,
Administrator of the Colony of Antigua, with the advice of the
Executive Council of the Colony, do by this my Proclamation
declare that the period from the 1st May, 1964, to the 31st July,
1964, both days inclusive, shall be a close season within the
meaning of the said Ordinance for the whole of the Colony of
Antigua, excepting that area, of land situate at Friars Hill under
the control of the Central Cotton Station.
AND I do hereby order all occupiers of lands, in pursuance
of the said Ordinance, completely to uproot and burn all cotton
and okra plants and all or any portion of the same growing or
remaining on such land occupied by them before the first day of
the said close season.
AND I do further declare that any person who sows or
plants or causes to be sown or planted any cotton or okra in any
part of the said Colony during the said close season shall be
. guilty of an offence under the said Ordinance.










GIVEN at the Administrator's Office, Government
House, Antigua, this 11th day of March, 1964,
in the thirteenth year of Her Majesty's reign.
