An Ordinance to remove doubts as to the appoint-
ments of Hugh Burrowes to be or to act as a
Magistrate.

WHEREAS doubts have arisen as to the
validity of the appointments dated respectively the
8th day of August 1959 and the 9th day of October
1959 of Hugh Burrowes to be, and to act as, a
magistrate in and for Magisterial Districts A and B
(Antigua):
AND WHEREAS it is desirable to remov
such doubts:
Be it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent
Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the
Legislative Council of Antigua, and by the authority
of the same, as follows:-
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Hugh Short title.
Burrowes (Validation of Appointments) Ordinance,
1962.

Validation of 2. It is hereby declared that the appointments
appointment&. dated respectively the 8th day of August 1959 and
the 9th day of October 1959 of Hugh Burrowes-

(a) to be a magistrate, and

(b) to act as a magistrate

in and for Magisterial Districts A and B (Antigua)
made by the Administrator in purported exercise of
the power and aul hority vested in him by sections
6 and 12 respectively of the Magistrate's Code of
Procedure Act shall be deemed to have been validly
made in accordance with the provisions of those
sections, and accordingly all things done or purported
to be done after the 7th td(y (f Angust 1959, and
before the 1st day of January 1960, by the said
Hugh Burrowes in performance of the functions
of the office of magistrate or, as the
case may be, acting magistrate, shall for the purposes
of that Act be, and be deemed always to have been,
validly and effectively done.

OBJECTS AND REASONS.



The object of this Bill is to remove certain doubts which
have existed with respect to the appointments dated respectively,
the 8th day of August 1959 and the 9th day of October 1959,
of Hugh Burrowes to be a magistrate, and to act as a magistrate
in and for Magisterial Districts A and .B by declaring that the
said appointments shall be deemed to have been validly made in
accordance with the provisions of the Magistrate's Code of Pro-
cedure Act, and that all things done by such magistrate after the
7th day of August 1959 and before the 1st day of January 1960
shall be deemed always to have been validly and effectively done.

MADE BY THE ADMINISTRATOR UNIER SECTION 4 (1) OF
THE AID TO PIONEER INDUSTRIES ORDINANCE, 1950
(No. 9 OF 1950).

1. This Order may be cited as the Aid to Short title.
Pioneer Industries (Messrs. Leeway Liquors Lim-
ited) Order, 1962.

2. Messrs. Leeway Liquors Limited is here- Declration of
by declared to be a pioneer manufacturer for the f~elerManu
purposes of the Aid to Pioneer Industries Ordi-
nance, 1950, in relation to the pioneer factory
situated at the old airport building, Coolidge, and
in relation to the manufacture of the following
pioneer products:-
Scotch Whisky
Malt Whiskies
the manufacture of which was declared to be a
Pioneer Industry by the Aid to Pioneer Industries
(Distilling, Blending and Bottling of Whisky)
Order, 1962; and the production day of the said s. R. & 0.
Messrs. Leeway Liquors Limited in relation to the 24/19(2.
above mentioned pioneer products is declared to be
the 1st day of February, 1963.
