the Land Tax defaulters' list has been
received at the Provost Marshal's
Office and persons whose names
appear on this list are warned that
property for which taxes have not
been paid will be sold by public
auction in accordance with Land Tax
Act No. 1 of 1917 unless payment is
made on or before the 31st day of
October, 1960.

selected for the sitting of the Court

Vacancy of Post of Colonial
Engineer, Antigua.

Applications are invited for the
post of Colonial Engineer in the
Government Service of Antigua.

2. The salary of the post is $8,160
per ann um.

3. The appointment is subject to
medical fitness. The post is pension-
able and the candidate selected will
be on probation for three years.


4. QUALIFICATIONS: Membership
of the Institute of Civil Engineers or
equivalent qualifications. Previous
Colonial experience is desirable.

5. DUTIES: The Colonial Engi-
neer is the chief Technical Adviser
to the Ministry of Public Works and
Communications on all engineering
matters relating to the construction
and maintenance of public buildings,
roads and bridges, water and drain-
age, and is required to assume execu-
tive responsibility for the efficient
and smooth running of the Public
Works]Department in both its admin-
istration and technical fields.

6. Applications should be address-
ed to the Administrator, Antigua, The
West Indies, to reach him not later
than 15th November, 1960.

7. Any further particulars requir-

Tenders are invited for the pur-
chase of the agricultural machinery
listed below.

One Challenger III diesel crawler
tractor titted with AV 600 Leyland
Engine, 102 h. p., 1955 model. The
tractor which has worked for about
6300 hours has been well maintained
and in good working condition.

One Blaw-Knoz cable winch, fitted
to above tractor in good working
condition.

One Ransomes Supertrac 3 furrow
extra heavy duty plough, in good
condition.

The Machinery can be inspected, by
appointment, at Tomlinson's Work-
shop, Antigua Syndicate Estates Ltd.

Tenders should be submitted in
sealed envelopes clearly marked 'Ten-
der for Agricultural Machinery' to
the Director of Agriculture, Antigua,
to reach him on or before 1st Decem-
ber, 1960. The Director of Agricul-
ture reserves the right to reject any or
all tenders.

TOWN AND COUNTRY
PLANNING ORDINANCE
NO. 4/1948

The following subsections of para
6 of the Villa Area (Town Extension)
Schem- are published herewith for
general information.

ZONING: HOUSING ZONES
1. The plots facing on the road to
FORT JAMES shall be regarded as
Zone A. The minimum floor space
for dwelling houses in this area shall
be 1,000 sq. ft. This shall also apply
to the area on the north side of the
road to Fort James. Zone B shall
cover and extend from main street B
to the northern side of the main
street E. In this area the minimum
floor space of all dwelling houses
shall be 320 sq. ft. Zone C shall
extend from the southern side of
main street E and the minimum floor
of any dwelling house shall be 120
sq. ft. The height of building from
floor to plate shall not be less than
8ft. the ventilation space under the
floor shall not be less than 24 inches
and the building shall be on concrete
or stone masonry pillars.

COMMERCIAL ZONE

2. All those plots bordering the
streets surrounding the park and
shown on the map or plan with a red
line along the frontage shall be zoned
for the accommodation of commercial
buildings, in which ar-a, stores,
shops, offices, printeries, clubs, hotels,
restaurants, cinemas, places of enter-
tainment, retail warehouses, public
buildings and minor trades not
giving rise to public nuisance (e.g.
noise, smoke, noxious odours) shall
be permitted. Domestic dwellings
on upper floor shall be permitted but
all other domestic dwellings shall be
excluded.

(Courts) (Amendment) Order in Council, 1960

Made ... ... 12th September, 1960

At the Court at Balmoral, the 12th day of September, 1960

Present,

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Her Majesty, by virtue and in exercise of the
powers conferred on Her by section 4 of the
Leeward Islands Act, 1956 (a), and by the
Dominica Act, 1938 (b), and of all other powers
enabling Her in that behalf, is pleased, by and
with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order,
and it is hereby ordered, as follows:-

1.-(1) This Order may be cited as the citation.
Windward Islands and Leeward Islands (Courts)
(Amendment) Order in Council, 1960.
(2) The Windward Islands and Leeward
Islands (Courts) Order in Council, 1959 (c), and
this Order may .cited together as the Windward
Islands and Leeward Islands (Courts) Orders in
Council, 1959 and 1960.

2. Section 20 of the Windward Islands and Amendment
Leeward Islands (Courts) Order in Council, 1959, of tion
is amended as follows:- of 1959.
(a) by the deletion of the words "and
S such other officers in subsection (1) and the
substitution therefore of the words and such
Deputy Registrars (if any) ";

(b) by the substitution of a semi-coloo
for the full stop at the end of subsection (1)
and the addition thereafter of the words and

officers of the said Courts as may be appointed
for that Colony in accordance with any law in
that behalf for the time being in force
therein ";

(c) by the deletion of the words and
other offices in subsection (3) and the sub-
stitution therefore of the words and the office
of Deputy Registrar "; and
(d) by the deletion of subsection (4) and
the substitution therefore of the following new'
subsection (4), that is to say-
(4) Power to appoint a person io
act in the office of Registrar or the office
of Deputy Registrar for a Colony during
any period during which it is vacant or
the holder thereof is unable for any
reason to perform the functions of that
office shall vest in the Administrator of
the Colony acting after consultation with
the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court."

Resolution of the Legislative Council of the ng of
Antigua dated October 24, 1960, made under
21 (1) of the Windward Islands and Leeward Islands
(Courts) Order in Council, 1959.


WHEREAS section 28 of the Windward Islands and
Leeward Islands (Courts) Order in Council, 1959, provides
that section 21 of the Order shall apply in relation to the
Judicial and Legal Service Commission and the members there-
of as it applies in relation to the Supreme Court and the judges
thereof:
AND WHEREAS subsection (1) of section 21 of the
Windward Islands and Leeward Islands (Courts) Order in
Council, 1959, provides that the judges of the Supreme Court
shall receive such remuneration and allowances as may from
time to time be determined by the Governor-General by order
a draft of which has been approved by resolution of the Legis-
lative Council of each of the Colonies to which this Order
applies:
BE IT RESOLVED that the draft Order entitled the
Judicial and Legal Service Commission (Remuneration and
Allowances of Members) Order, 1960, proposed to be msde by
the Governor-General under the Windward Islands and
Leeward Islands (Courts) Order in Council, 1959, as set out in
the Schedule hereto, be approved. /

Passed the Legislative Council this 24th day of October,
1960.

RESOLUTION OF THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL THE COLO' OF
ANTIGUA DATED OCTOBER 24, 1960, MADESECTION
15 OF THE CUSTOMS DUTIES ORDINANCE, 1927 (No. 11
OF 1927).


WHEREAS section 15 of the Customs Duties Ordinance,
1927, provides that the Legislative Council may from time to
time by resolution increase, reduce, abolish or otherwise alter
the customs duty leviable on any goods imported into the
Colony :
BE IT RESOLVED by the Legislative Council of
Antigua as follows :-
The First Schedule to the Customs Duties Ordinance,
1927, shall be and is hereby altered and amended by the
insertion between items 18 and 19 after the words CARDS,
playing (See PAPER) of the following :-

Full Preferential
Cartons, empty bottles, capsules,
screw caps and labels import-
ed by the Antigua Distillery
Ltd. for use in connection
with their Rum Industry ... 1 ad val. 1 % ad val.
Passed the Legislative Council this 24th day of October,
