Appointment of Superintendent of Water
and Electricity Supply Area.


The Administrator has been pleased
to appoint the Superintendent of
Public Works, Virgin Islands to be
the Superintendent of the Road Town
Water Supply Area and the Superin-
tendent of the Tortola Central
Electricity Supply Area in accordance
with subsection 1 of section 4 of the
Water and Electricity Supply Ordi-
nance, 1955, No. 8 of 1955.

With reference to the notice
appearing in the Antigua, Montserrat
and Virgin Islands Gazette of the
13th March, 1958, it is notified for
general information that Mr. H. D. C.
MOORE has resigned his appointment
as a temporary member of the Public
Service Commission.

It is hereby notified for general in-
formation th;t the Cloni;l Air
Navigation Order, 1955, of the United
Kingdom has been amended by the
Colonial Air Navigation (Amend-
ment) Order, 1958, made by Her
Majesty in Council on the 19th day of
February, 1958, and laid before Parlia-
ment on the 25th day of Febrnary,
1958. This amendment will come
into force on the 1st day of May, 1958.
2. This Order amends the Colonial
Air Navigation Order, 1955-

(a) by extending the provi-
sions of Article 22 of that
Order, which relate to
the number and descrip-
tion of the operating crew
of aircraft, so as to apply
also to the number and
description or other per-
sons having duties to
perform in the aircraft,
and
(b) by modifying the provi-
sions of Rule 71 of the
Rules of the Air in the
Second Schedule to that
Order, which relate to
the lights to be shown by
certain flying machines
registered in Colonial
territories.


3. A copy of this Order may be
seen, if desired, at the offices of the
Chief Secretary or of any of the
Administrators of the Leeward
Islands. The Order will in due course
form part of the bound volume of
Laws of the Leeward Islands for 1958.

any of the above areas. Any animals
found straying on the airport will be
shot.

This Department has been experi-
encing considerable difficulty in
reading meters at the proper time and
preparing bills for water used, due to
the habit of certain individuals remov-
ing from houses without giving notice
of such removals to the department.

The attention of owners and sub-
letters of buildings is drawn to Section
13 of S. R. & 0. No. 23 (f 1954, which
states inter alia Water Service rate
shall be paid into the Treasury by the
person requiring, receiving or using
the water supplied by the Public
Works Department ".

Owners and sub-lettors are therefore
advised, that should their tenants
and/or sub-tenants leave the buildings
without requesting the reading of the
meter and payment of the water rates
may be recovered from the owner or
sub-lettor as the case may be.

construction of six (6) reinforced
concrete supports for a cylindrical
steel tank at Willikies Village.
2. The size of the supports are
approximately as follows:-

Base 17'X 3' 6"x 1'
Upper Section 7'x 12' x 1'6"


3. The plans and specification sheets
can be obtained from the Water &
Drainage Section, P. W. D. on depos-
iting the sum of $10. 00 which will
be returned upon the receipt of a
bona fide tender and the plans and
specifications.

4. Tender should be in a sealed
pnvelpe addressed to the Colonial
Engineer P. W. D. and should reach
the P. W. D. not later than 12.00
noon on 5th May, 1958.

5. Government does not bind itself
to accept the lowest or any tender.
