ENACTED by the Legislature of the Colony
of Antigua.

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Bush
Fires (Amendment) Ordinance, 1956 and shall be
read as one with the Bush Fires Ordinance,
1901, as amended, hereinafter called the Principal
Ordinance.

2. Section 5A of the Principal Ordinance is
hereby amended by the substitution of the words
" Chief Health Inspector" for the words Clerk to
the Country Board of Health ".

tration Act.

ENACTED by the Legislature of the Colony
of Antigua.
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Title
)b Registration Act (Amendment) Ordinance,
1956, and shall be read as one with the Title by
Registration Act, as amended, hereinafter called the
the Principal Act.

2. Section 12 of the Principal Act is hereby
amended by the substitution of the following for
the third sentence of the section:-
S" The Registrar of Titles shall there-
upon proceed to give public information of
such application by exhibiting on the door of
the Court House a copy of the schedule of
applications in form 3 in the Second Schedule,
and the person presenting the request shall

ENACTED by the Legislature of the
Colony of Antigua:-
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Short title.
Publication of the First Lists of Voters (Exten-
sion of Time) Ordinance, 1956.


2. Notwithstanding anything contained in
section 44 of the Antigua Constitution and
Elections Ordinance, 1951, the provisions of the
said section shall be construed with respect to
the publication of the first lists of voters for the
purpose of the general election to be held in the
year 195(6 as if for the word "twenty-one"
appearing in the second line of subsection (1)
of the section, there were substituted the words
"thirty-one ".

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the
Indictments Act (Amendment) Ordinance, 1956,
and shall be read as one with the Indictments Act,
as amended, hereinafter called the Principal Act.

2. Subsection (1) of section 3 of the
Principal Act is hereby amended by the substitution
of the words "such persons as the Chief Justice
may appoint" for the words "the Chief Justice,
the Puisne Judge, the Attorney General and the
Chief Registrar'.

The Coronation (Leeward Islands) Stamp (Invalidation)
Order, 1956, dated October 30, 1956, made by the Gov-
ernor in Council under Sections 4 and 5 of the Stamp
Act (Cap. 135) as amended.

1. Citation. This Orden may be cited as the Corona-
tion (Leeward Islands) Stamp (Invalidation) Order, 1956.

2. Invalidation of Stamp. The Leeward Islands
stamp originally authorised for use, inter alia, by the Coronation
Stamp Order, 1953 (S. R. & 0. 1953 No. 8) and further des-
cribed in the Schedule to th a Order, and the continued use
whereof was authorized, inter alia, by the proviso to paragraph
2 of the Coronation Stamps (Revocation and Continuance of Use)
Order, 1953 (S. R. & 0. 1953 No. 30) shall, as from 31st
October, 1956, no longer be valid for payment of postage or
stamp duties:

Provided that any person who is in possession of any such
stamp may, at any time between the 31st day of October, 1956
and the 31st day of January, 1957 apply to any Post Office in
the Colony to have such stamp exchanged for and replaced by a
valid stamp or stamps of equal value authorised for use in the
Colony.

Made by the Governor in Council this 30th day of October,
1956.

The Interpretation and General Clauses (Extension of term Gover-
nor ") (Exceptions) Order, 1956, dated 15th October, 1966, made
by the Governor under subsection (3) of section 2 of the Inter-
pretation and General Clauses Act, 1955 (No. 1211955) as
amended.


WHEREAS by subsection (3) of section 2 of the Interpretation and General
Clauses Act, 1955 (No. 12/1955) as amended, it is provided that whenever in any
Act passed by the General Legislature of the Leeward Islands or in any Ordinance
having effect in the Colony on the first day of July, 1956, or in any Ordinance
passed thereafter, the expression Governor" appears, save as otherwise expressly
provided or implied in such Act or Ordinance a'-d except, when, in the case of
any such Act, the Governor, by order published in the Gazette, declares otherwise,
that expression shall be deemed to include the officer for the time being adminis-
tering the Government of the Colony:
AND WHEREAS it appears to me expedient to declare that the expression
"Governor" when used in the Acts specified in the Schedule shall not be deemed
to include the officer for the time being administering the Government of the
Colony.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, KENNETH WILLIAM BLACKBURNH, a Knight Com-
mander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, an
Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Governor and Com-
mander in Chief in and over the Colony of the Leeward Islands and Vice
Admiral of the same, in exercise of the power conferred by the said subsection,
and all other powers me thereunto enabling, do hereby declare and order as
follows:-
1. CITATION. This Order may be cited as the Interpretation and General
Clauses (Extension of the term Governor ") (Exceptions) Order, 1956.
2. INTERPRETATION. In this Order-
"Schedule means the Schedule to this Order.
3. DECLARATION. The term "Governor" when used in the Acts specified
in the first column of the Schedule in the sections set out in the second column of
the said Schedule which relate to the matters mentioned in the third column
thereof shall not be deemed to include the officer for the time being administering
'the Government of the Colony.

THE CORONATION (LEEWARD ISLANDS) STAMP (INVALIDATION)
ORDER, 1956, DATED OCTOBER 25, 1956, MADE BY THE
GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL UNDER SECTIONS 4 AND 5 OF THE
STAMP ACT (CAP. 135) AS AMENDED.


1. Citation. This Order may be cited as the Corona-
tion (Leeward Islands) Stamp (Invalidation) Order, 1956.
2. Invalidation of Stamp. The Leeward Islands
stamp originally authorised for use, inter alia, by the Coronation
Stamp Order, 1953 (S. R. & 0. 1953 No. 8) and further
described in the Schedule to this Order, and the continued use
whereof was authorised, inter alia, by the proviso to paragraph
2 of the Coronation Stamps (Revocation and Continuance of
Use) Order, 1953 (S. R. & 0. 1953 No. 30) shall, as from the
31st October, 1956, no longer be valid for payment of postage
or stamp duties:
Provided that any person who is in possession of any such
stamp may, at any time between the 31st day of October, 1956
and the 31st day of January, 1957 apply to any Post Office in
the Colony to have such stamp exchanged for and replaced by a
valid stamp or stamps of equal value authorised for use in the
Colony.
Made by the Governor in Council this 25th day of October,
1956.

SCHEDULE.
The special green Leeward Islands stamp of the value of 3 cents
to commemorate the Coronation of Her Majesty Queen ELIZABETH the
Second consisting of a portrait of Her Majesty the Queen in black on a
frame with the Coronation date and the name "Leeward Islands"
thereon.
