The money raised will be .spent in

At present the income of' the Marion

The easy days of the democracy in
Florida are over. From now on dem

ocrats will have to work for what they

want. Ocala Star. j

You are dead wrong. Lots of good

things come along and sit right down!
in idle people's laps.
One of our daily exchanges, the
price of which is the same as that
of the Star, has increased its tele telegraph
graph telegraph service and also raised its
rates. It informs us of the fact, and
coolly proposes that we pay it $2 per
annum to boot. We like its nerve.
We never read any of said exchange

except its editorial page, and if it

doesn't want to swap even it can go
chase itself.

A dollar contributed by 'a good

democrat to the democratic national

campaign fund will accomplish a

great deal. The contributor of a dol dollar
lar dollar can feel that he" is actually per

forming, one of the following services

to the democratic party; a ten dollar
contribution does ten times, as much;
a hundred dollar contribution one hun hundred
dred hundred times as much, and so on.

If used '' in sending telegraphic

news, one dollar will send a 100-word
news item to a possible one million
one hundred and fifty thousand read readers.
ers. readers. :: :

If used in sending out special ar

ticles, it will print and deliver to ed

itors a thousand-word article, which
may reach eight hundred and thirty thirty-five
five thirty-five thousand readers.

If used by the editorial department,

it will place a democratic editorial
the length of this on the editorial
desk of papers having a circulation of

slightly over a million and a quarter.
It will purchase three hundred
eight-page pamphlets on the League
of Nations or other democratic liter literature,
ature, literature, or pay postage on one hundred
of them, or buy one hundred and
twenty-five buttons.
If used by the speakers' bureau, it

will carry a democratic message from
one of our speakers to one hundred
and fifteen voters.
- It must be borne in mind that there
are many millions of voters and that
they mast be reached not once, but
many times and in many ways.
Every 5 democrat can and should

do his or her part. And doing one's

part consists in giving liberally ac

cording to one's ability and means

not merely a nominal sum.

Treasurer Gary made us jealous

yesterday, collecting more money
than we did. He reports contribu

tions of a dollar each from Mr. and

Mrs. S. F. Ron of Reddick. Mr. Lan-

dis Blitch of Blitchton. A member

of the Cash family gave him $2 this
morning, and Mr. E. L. Carney $1.

We acknowledge $2 from Mr. W. L.

NOTES AND COMMENTS

(Contributed)

It will at least take a year br two

or some husbands to get adjusted to

be new order of things that of

stavinar home with the baby while

friend wife takes her "night out."

.-
Of the many beautiful, words utter

d by the late Robert Ingersoll none

were more worthy of remembering

than these: "The time to be happy is
now, the place to be happy is here,
the way to be happy is to make others

so.'

while away she secured a wonderful

maid of all work and a few days after

their arrival home creamed onions

were called for by the lord of the
manor. Going into the pantry a gen

erous portion of onions was handed
to the maid and sweetly the little

ousewife said: "Mary, cream them

the best you know how, for Mr. W.

is so fond of good creamed onions.

Yessum," replied Mary, returning to

the kitchen, where in a few minutes

she began to smile all over her face.'
"Goodness me," she exclained, if

2e missus aint gone and give me nar

cissus bulbs for onions."

-
If one will take a position in the

neighborhood of the Court Pharmacy

about mid-afternoon or early evening,

he will see more good-looking middle-

aered and over-fed men than will or ordinarily
dinarily ordinarily be seen in a day's journey

There is a little lady in our town,

A few mornings ago we were with her
