Mr. Randolph referred to the death of
Mr. Taylor Chase. the senior member
of'the firm and the wil he made dis-
posing of his vast estate. During his
life he had ever been mindful of those
in his employ and their faithfulness.
He rruie.nbered them In his will and.
In this particular he displayed thl"
noet remarkable appreciation for
those who had been with We during
htis long and successful business ca-
reer. He left $1270. to the Chase &
Sauborn company. To seven salesmen
,wbo had been with the hon- ongest
be left each $2.000. Mr. Randolph wa
one of the seven. To fitty other em-
ployees he left SI.0 each. To 100 of
them. messenger boys and the minor
poelton holders in the store, he left
$S60 each. T0 tour widewa of rm
who had been in his service all their
live hbe left $10.0 to each: fb ,,was
a man., whose kindly and charitable
dispoeltion went out to his fellow me
and .was especially mindful of bener-
olent organisatlons and to the Bal-
vation Army he left $15.W0 and to ev-
ery other fraternal and benevolent or-
ganitation in the city of Boston he left
$5.410 each. He was a man that took
a deep interest In his traveling sale-
nen and sympathized with them In
their efforts to promote the business.
To his home town, Feanell, near Bee-
ton. he spent $800,000 to. deepen the
harbor and $300.000 to build a sea
wall around it for protection, while all
of the public Institutions of the town
were the recipients of *large contriti-.
timon. Mr. Randolph, wh6 knew My.
Chase well, said he was the mostt con-
siderate and remarkable man along
llnes indicated in this little sketch he
ever knew.

County Fair to bring forth quail on

Edwards. In her exhibit there is wine
galore, and looked good enough to
temvt a water wagon man.

sugar cane, sixteen feet tall, was a
sight wort seeing.. Jim thinks he will
carry off the blue ribbon with his blue
ribbon cane. It sure looks good.
Jim Nelson t the Ocala Gas En-
gine Co., to su ilyn the water for
the fair grounds. He is lifting it into
big galvanized tanks with one of their
engines. No one need go thirsty on
the fl grounds.
Mr. Olla of Kendrick, drove In with
a fine lot t Japanese suar cane, as

The stock pens ae, bested Ju"t to

first exhibit we struck was that of P.
L. Grantham, who has two fine Duro
shoats; Edwards Bros., with two pens
of splendid Berkshire hogs, large and
small. Then came Mr. & R. Pyle'
three-year-old bay mare colt, a
black colt of same age, Marion C
grown and they bespeak their health
and good points. Jim Pyales show-
ing a iee two-year-o. dolt and Dr.
J. C. Rooser a twU-year-old colt that
is certainly a r~latin lor fo Marion.

colts by the dozen that are indeed fine.
The Palmetto Park Stock Farm, Z.
C. Chambliss & Co, the original be-
liee" and producers of thoroughbred
cattle, have three pens In which are
represented a half scrub cow with a
three-fourths blooded calf and they
tll the story of how the native stock
can be improved by crossing with full-
blooded Shorthorns. Messrs. Charley
HewIll and X. C. Chambliss of Martin,
have a pen from their Martin farm of
blooded' Shorthorns. and they show
their blood and breed.
Alfred Ayer, Marion's tax assessor,
is showing a pen of six ane Holstetas
from a calf up. Next Isa a pen of 12
Jerseys from the stock farm of J. B.
Simonton, near Micanopy. where you
can see them from the calf to the
head of the herd, a splendid bull.
Next you come to the pen of Frank
D. Sampson, of Boardman, the big or-
ange grower, who has 12 aead of Jer-
seys that are Indeed beautles and
must be seen to be appreciated.
Nor must the pen of 10 head of
horses be overlooked coming from J.
M. Meffert's Lowell farm, consisting
of two mares with eight colts. They
show what can be done In this line.
