Night Worth The Price of

Admission.

1VAN WLAIS!, VAI CIIN

The dramatic pernomn in the pre-
election caucus iist night at the City
Hall were slow in gathering, but when
they finally got in a-tion they made up
for lost time. The orchestra was very
late in appearing, but were roundly ap-
plauded, and their initial number for
the evening "blew off" at a most oppor-
tune moment of the nroceedings.
Dr. G. A. Klock rapped the gavel for
ilelnce about 8:30, and upon motion of
F. W. Pope, I)r. Klock was made per-
nianent chairman. Chairman stated
that the object of the call was to try to
dt-cidc upon a AN of representative citi-
zcns to fill the vacancies in city offices
at expiration of the municipal year,
which is February. I'pon motion, the
nominations for Mayor were called. Fred
Stillman was first on his feet. and put
in nomination D. F. Randolph; Henry
Schmidt nominated F. W. Pope, and
Ernet.t Mills placed the name of former
Iayvor, E W. Greene before the meeting
Chairman Klock was about to proceed
with the distribution of ballots. when
WVm. Jackson arose, and suggested that
the nominees be given an opportunity
to erect their platforms in the public
presence so that all might the better de-
cide where lie wanted to stand. The
Jackson suggestion met with unanimous
approval and the Mayoralty spigot was
:,ulled out, and speech-making was on
