This report is a compilation of the publications of the staff of the
University of Florida, the graduate theses, and the publications spon-
sored by the University.

In format, the publications of the staff are listed alphabetically by
author and by fields. Included for each field are the graduate theses
giving the author and the name of the faculty member who directed or
supervised the work. By fields, also, are listed the publications spon-
sored by the organized research agencies. A final section lists other
publications sponsored by the University of Florida.

This compilation represents a departure from earlier compilations
which included, in addition to publications, a brief description of
research activities underway. It is now planned to continue in future
compilations the listing of publications only and graduate theses.

A listing of publications is only one indication of the contributions
of the faculty to the ever-widening sphere of knowledge. Items cited
range from popular articles to technical reports of research. Though
there is no real measure of the contributions which publications make,
in the aggregate they indicate the contributions of the University of
Florida to a more effective teaching program, to an expansion of the
frontier of knowledge, and to the practical solution of every day prob-
lems.

Inquiries concerning any of the materials listed in this report may
be addressed to the author, the chairman of the Research Council, or
the administrative research unit indicated.
