1. Location


Crestview is in West Florida, 55 miles northeast of Pensacola.
from Choctawhatchee Bay and 30 miles from the Gulf of Mexico.


It is 25 miles


2. Transportation

U. S. Highway 90 and Florida Highway 85 pass through Crestview. Bail service
is provided by the Louisville and Nashville Railroad. Greyhound Bus Lines
and Coastal Stages provide bus service. Air service is not available.

5. History

The town of Crestview was incorporated in 1916 and re-incorporated in 1925.
Crestview is the county seat of Okaloosa County and is located on the Old
Spanish Trail.

6. Major Sources of Income

The major sources of income are the military payroll at Eglin Field, fishing,
timber, textile manufacturers and agriculture.

Crestview has a semi-professional baseball team.

Fraternal organizations are Masons and Order of the Eastern Star.

7. Organized Entertainment

The Shalimar Club (night club) is 10 miles south of town.

8. Recreational Frcilities

There are two public tennis courts and one privately-owned swimming pool in
Crestview. There is a golf course about 10 miles from town and nice beaches
30 miles from town.

9. Hunting

Quail, turkeys, dove, deer, squirrels and fox are found in this vicinity.
There are unposted hunting grounds in the immediate vicinity. No hunting
camps or hunting lodges are available.

10. Fishing

Fresh water bream, trout, bass, perch, and catfish are caught in Yellow River
and Shoal River. Salt water bluefish, scamp, ling, bonita, amberjack, tarpon,
sailfish, shark, devilfish, ray, flounder, leather jack, channel bass, sea
bass, speckled trout, grouper, lady fish, and skip jack are caught in the
Choctawhatchce Bay and thd Gulf of Mexico. There are no fishing camps or
fishing guides. Fishing boats can be chartered at Niceville and Valparaiso.

11. Churches

Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian, Church of Christ, Assembly of God, and
Church of God denominations have services in Crestview.

2. Tourist Courts

Crestview Tourist Camp, 10 units, rates $2 and up, lunch room on grounds.

Mar-Camp, seven apartments, rented by the month,

Baker's Hospitality, 13 units, $2 and up, restaurant in connection.

Highland Courts, 17 units, $2.50 and up, restaurant across road.
