Zephyrhills is in Central Florida, 25 miles northeast of
northeast of St. Petersburg. The elevation is 88 feet.
Tampa, and 52 miles
Florida Highways 39, 41 and 54 pass through Zephyrhills. The Atlantic Coast
Line Railroad and the Seaboard Air Line Railroad provide rail service. Bus
service is provided by Greyhound Lines. Air service is not available.
Pasco County had a population of 13,729 in 1945. The population of Zephyr-
hills was 1,239.

The town was founded by a group of G. A. R. veterans. It has been known as
a vetererif town because Spanish American War veterans came here and also
Legionaires after World War 1. The railroads cam through and the town grew.
Zephyr in Greek means gentle west wind. The town was named Zephyrhills
because it is located in the hills of Pasco County, and there is almost always

Saturday night. Dues are ,2.50 per year. There are shuffleboard courts and
benches around where cards, dominoes and checkers are played.
